How do you deal with over-applied foundation?
For me, I usually have to remove and reapply. If it isn’t too over-applied, then I might use a dampened smudge to try and pull some of it off my skin.

I’m generally pretty good about not over-applying foundation.
My bigger issue is when products don’t mesh. I change things up so often every once in a while I end up with a foundation patching or pilling due to a primer, or an not quite compatible (or not yet fully dry) skin product.
In that case I try to sponge it out but I find the best option (esp when I get really frustrated) is to start again.
I definitely can relate to this. When using new combos, I try not to do it if I know I’m in a hurry, in case if it doesn’t work out. But I don’t always follow my own rule LoL
Honestly, this hasn’t been a problem for me in quite a few years. However, I do use a waterproof foundation during summer, and it can sometimes set a little faster than non-waterproof formulas. Therefore, I really DO need to work a little faster at blending it in or I can get a patch that is a bit thick. In that case, my damp beauty sponge can help me smooth it out and reduce that heavy look.
I don’t have this problem too often, only occasionally with new foundations. A dry beauty blender will usually take off the excess. If it’s really out of hand, I’ll just remove it and start over.
I take the Artis brush and use a circular motion to remove some of it. If there is an especially thick patch, I pat on some moisturizer to soften it and rub some more with the brush. Since I wear sunscreen always and let it set for 20 minutes before applying foundation, it would be a major time suck to remove the foundation and start over.
It almost never happens to me, as I am usually using half a pump to one pump of foundation, and I squeeze it first on the back of my hand. If too much product gets out, I just clean it from my hand once I finish.
But if it happens, at first I try to blend as much as I can. I mostly apply my foundation with my fingers, so I try to use desperately to use the whole palm to get product out. 😅 But if it happens, it’s just starting all over again for me. I am so used to have a thin layer of foundation, that I can easily feel my skin uncomfortable if I have too much product on.
I take a clean brush and sort of buff off the extra.

It’s pretty easy with a pump delivery system not too over apply – which what L’Oreal’s True Match foundation has and one and a half pumps is all I need.
If I did over apply, I would wait to let it settle and use some setting powder to tone it down.
