What kind of beauty content do you engage with most?

I’m mostly a lurker and the content I come across tends to be through Instagram, which is mostly new product releases and looks, but I don’t read/watch a lot of review content on purpose (unless I’ve already reviewed myself), so then if I watch a video, it’ll usually be a get-ready-with-me video.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I used to watch videos for-get-ready-with-me and new product trys but I haven’t in many months. I stopped following all Instagram beauty content as well. I come here for what I want to see, whether it’s product comparisons or the newest on the market or look ideas, the site is familiar and easily navigable. I’ve always been a fan of one stop shopping and too much choice (sea of youtube and Instagram content) tends to overwhelm and burn me out.

Well this site, obviously, for reviews/swatches. Also following on Insta for headlines.

Also on Insta, following Pat McGrath, NYX & Mac cosmetics for their product release news and especially their great makeup application videos. McGrath’s are my fave, they’re so glitzed out!

I only follow one YouTuber, Michele Wang, because I love her taste and her voice! It’s got kind of an AMSR quality to it that I find calming. 😀

I come here, of course. I have a few You Tube subscriptions but I no longer watch any of them regularly. I like the monthly faves and fails but only watch reviews of products that I am actively considering. If I have a need, I will watch a tutorial, which inevitably is from past content. I am part of a Makeup Use It Up Facebook group. I also enjoy makeup and skincare subReddits because there is a possibility of a dialogue with others and there are a lot of knowledgeable people there. Some of them are pretty funny too. And I still read magazine and newspaper columns, although it’s almost entirely on line. During the shutdown, I diverted myself with biographies of cosmetic company tycoons. Very soothing.

This is a good question and one I really had to consider.
The one consistent I have followed/engaged with over the last couple years in Temptalia.
Secondary is Insta, because I’m on there the most, but I don’t stop to watch too much of it.
I’ve mostly given up watching YouTube content with the exception of the odd Mel Thompson video.
I spend more time following dog trainers on all platforms
*priorities 🙂

It depends on the platform.

Although I watch a lot of YouTube content, I never comment or like, I just don’t see the reason and don’t want to use my Google account for that.
I also don’t engage on Facebook, because I use that platform for family and friends interaction, not with brands or influencers.
On Instagram I usually engage with new launches and products presentations, expressing my opinion. I almost never interact with makeup looks.

But I absolutely love interacting on temptalia. I find most topics engaging. 😁 From surveys to daily questions, to new launches and old favorites. I also feel more engaged because I get the feeling of actual interaction, either from Christine or the other members of the community.

I visit this site daily ..
However in generaI I don’t really watch a lot of beauty content .
If I am really interested in a product and want as many swatches as possible to try and see it on various skin tones then I’ll do a search just for that product.

There is one Beauty vlogger I visit now and then A makeup artist Ali Andreea
She lives in Paris and I watched some of her videos on apartment hunting and life in Paris as well as some of her try on’s…I love all things Parisian.

Fairly often I am tempted by a video promising old lady tips. OMG! Most are way too lengthy. Get to the point! I can only absorb so much info at one time.

I’m on here most days. instagram a wee bit and I only follow one YouTube biogger Adaleta Avdic she’s mostly into skincare and I just like the way she does her reviews. Otherwise there’s not enough time in the day to fit everything in.

I read and interact here, The Makeup & Beauty Blog, Phyrra, and sometimes Musings of a Muse. I usually spend a lot of time in the Phyrra “Hex Squad” Facebook group.

On YouTube, I watch mostly reviews and demonstrations using products, mainly. I like a good list or tag video, as well. I’ve gotten good tips from Robert Welsh, Lisa Eldridge, and Wayne Goss. I’m mostly a lurker, but their are a few smaller creators I interact with.

Usually beauty youtube. I like seeing things in practice – but the colors in videos are WILDLY different in reality – because I can get a good feel for what will work with my skin tone just by seeing the texture, application, and (potentially – for some reason check-ins aren’t more popular) wear. They’re not as popular as they used to be, but I also really like the “what’s in my bag” videos – though “what I’ve used up” is a good second. I want REAL reviews on products. I want to know what ACTUALLY gets used by people who are sent free stuff all the time. Of course I’m a sucker for first impressions…I’m just more likely to subscribe if they come back later with a real review. Angelica Nyqvist is good about a monthly update.

Anyway…yeah, youtube. Though to be fair I check in to your blog every single day too.

First and foremost, it’s this blog I visit daily. I scroll through Instagram and might stop and peek at something that really piques my interest. The only You Tuber I watch regularly is Angela Van Rose, as she reviews high end beauty and her makeup style is similar to mine, although her skin type and colouring are not.
