What products do you reach for when you want a smoky look?

ColourPop Blowin’ Smoke or Baroque palettes, Marc Jacobs Flesh & Fantasy blush, Pat McGrath Donnatella/She’s Heaven/Lavish LuxeTrance Lipsticks. Sigh, so many discontinued faves…

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Smoke Show, LC Venus Immortalis, Lunatick Vampira and Supernatural, Smashbox Punked, SG singles. Steeletto is probably my biggest disappointment in decades. Hopes dashed and shock ensued. I got the MJB first mega, and it’s terrific. 🤷‍♂️

Eyes: Viseart Chroma Theory, CColor Cosmetics Feverish palette, and if I’m up to the extra work, UD Naked Smoky. A bunch of MAC Pro Pans, including Handwritten, too.
Cheeks: whatever goes with my lipstick!
Lips: MAC Shy Girl, Spirit, Among The Fireflies, PML She’s Heaven (RIP), Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb. But sometimes I’ll go more daring than a nude lip and sport a red lip!

I don’t really do a Smokey eye look too much I usually just grab my beloved Shiseido Green kohl pencil .

For a quick traditional smokey eye, KVD Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad in Smoke is my foolproof go-to. UD 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Perversion, NYX Eyeshadow Base in Black, and black mascara. Blush and lips vary widely. I’ll most frequently do easy brown or bronzy smokey eyes, but I don’t have favorite eyeshadows for that, and just rotate my neutral palettes and singles.

I love reddish smokey eyes the most. Favorite palettes are ABH Jackie Aina, ABH Modern Renaissance, Huda Ruby Obsessions, and PML Bronze Seduction.

Some palettes I’ll use for other smokey looks are Ace Beaute Paradise Fallen, Sydney Grace Autumn’s Reign. UD Naked Smoky, ColourPop Butter Me Up, and my blue-gray Lethal Cosmetics palette. On the rare occasion I do a black/gray/silver look, I go with ColourPop Baroque or Smoke Show (Blowin’ Smoke) palette.

New: Melt’s MaryJane. Before… Rott or Bonnie (still melt) or UD’s naked smoky. Lips: Melt Voyeur, Uoma’s Eartha, or a brownie lipliner and balm on top. To be fair, nearly every time I wear eyeshadow it turns in to a smokey look no matter what color.
