Summer 2021: Sephora Colorful Eyeshadow Swatches
In April, Sephora Collection released almost two dozen new shades into their Colorful Eyeshadow ($9.00 each) range. When they reformulated this range last, I bought all the shades available and regretted it (I didn’t even end up writing formal reviews for everything). I guess I am a glutton for punishment or an eternal optimist, as I purchased the shades that were in-stock and here we are with 18 swatches!
There were also some additional shades released in the last week, which I purchased but don’t have yet but will share soon, hopefully.
Sephora; “Colorful”??? Seriously?
Most of these are variations of neutral colors. I only see several shades that truly quantify as something I would term “colorful”! They DO look quite nice in quality, though.
Ditto! Even Astral Blue looks muted to me.
Golden Bronze looks amazing, but $9 is more than I want to spend on a single shadow, especially when I’ve already got 40 eyeshadow pans in my collection that I like.
The shadows they had before the ones you regret getting (the ones that included Girl Night Out, Snakeskin Dress, etc.) were, for the most part (at least the ones I got) were excellent. In the past release, I got 2 or 3 good ones (including the closest dupe I’ve ever had for MAC’s Grand Entrance). I’m so awash in eyeshadows, though, that unless there’s something really outstanding among these new shades, I’m likely to pass on them all. I think Choco Excess was also a previous shade. I can’t help smiling at “Wine O’Clock”. Golden Bronze and Soft Suede are two that appeal to me.
I was just thinking this! I have a couple of old single eyeshadows from a previous Sephora release that I really like! I dug them out and I depotted them and the names aren’t on the back so I don’t even know what they’re called, but one of them, a taupey shade, has been a favorite neutral for single-shadow looks for years.
These look nice but I don’t need anything right now.
I think the shades here are just beautiful and, thank goodness, they all look OK from the swatches. I know that these are variations of warm neutrals, but sometimes they are the staple shades you run out of.
There are quite a few of these where I’m wondering, did anyone bother to look at these in pan before releasing them, let alone test them? First light looks like the worst offender, but there are some others that definitely shouldn’t have passed go too. There’s no reason for $9.00, Sephora can’t make a really nice single. A few seem decent enough, but some look almost epically bad. I see a lot of chalkiness or what looks like powderiness (obviously not a word but it should be) or dryness to these. It really is a shame. On a positive note, your photography makes them look great, you can’t tell until you zoom in closer!
First Light arrived broken, and I just pushed it back into the pan – I didn’t want to bother exchanging!
Hmmm.. colourful???
I find these remarkably similar to one another and lacking in the vibrancy I would expect for something labelled colourful. The swatches look good tho
The whole formula is called Colorful, and the formula itself does have a larger range of colors than just these new shades, lol!
I don’t want them just the same 😆
For $9 I’d rather support one of several indie makers!
I think they look really pretty!
