- Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I feel like I haven’t purchased anything in awhile! My last Sephora order was May 10th! What! I’m waiting on my PMG blush order… I think that’s all that’s upcoming, lol!
- Weekend plans: Maybe pop by my parents’ pool, but I’ve been using weekends more for getting work done (like photographing/swatching) so I can write during the week.
- Are you a risk-taker?: In many ways, I don’t consider myself to be a risk-taker at all. I generally would describe myself as risk-adverse, though someone might look at a few of my life choices (like working on Temptalia) as a risk… so maybe very occasionally!

Recent Purchases: So, I took a bit of a plunge for me…. I really wanted a nice, high end foundation, so I purchased Estée Lauder Double Wear. I’ve heard so many good things, so I’m excited to try it out. Also, Terra Moons had a restock and a sale, so I purchased a few more singles from them, namely, a dupe for Clionadh Cosmetics Verte which I’ve been drooling over for months.
Rediscoveries: I’ve been rotating through my foundations more this week and have enjoyed it. I also broke out my Oden’s Eye Alva palette this morning and really love how the shadows blended out.
Weekend plans: Well, the whole family has been sick with a really nasty cold the entire week, so we’re taking it easy this weekend. Hopefully we’ll all be much better by Tuesday.
Are you a risk-taker?: Not. At. All. I had such a tumultuous childhood where everything seemed unsafe that taking big risks just gives me anxiety.
Winston is getting so big! He’s such a pretty boy.
RECENT PURCHASES: Alien Cosmetics Strawberry Milkshake Palette.
RECENT REDISCOVERIES: Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Bronzer in Amber. I bought it when it launched to use as contour, but I didn’t apply it right. I decided to try it again this month and the results are much better.
WEEKEND PLANS: Today we have a house appraisal for refinancing,. Tomorrow, signing paperwork for my younger son. We’re hoping to start prepping my older son’s room for painting.
ARE YOU A RISK TAKER? My severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder makes me risk avoidant, or at least lean toward calculated risks, but sometimes I can surprise myself and others.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I’m pretty much by myself in the office most of the time, so I’m happily taking advantage of the state and the CDC’s new recommendations and wearing no mask while I’m in the office (I’m fully vaccinated). So that meant breaking out my liquid foundation, and I’ve been reacquainting myself with both my La Mer Soft Fluid and Shiseido Synchro-Skin foundations. I started the week using La Mer, but a hormonal breakout on my chin has left me finishing the week with Shiseido and I am only reminded how much I love love love these two foundations. They’re special and fit exactly what I need: one for lighter days, and one for just a little more coverage. And both have a *chef’s kiss* gorgeous finish. I’ve missed these!!
Weekend plans: I want to finish more of my writing, I have a personal project I’m working on and I’m stuck editing a chapter. Have been for a week. But work’s been stressful, so that’s probably why I have writer’s block. I look forward to using the three days to unwind and work on more of my writing!
Are you a risk-taker?: No. I’ve had severely high anxiety my entire life, and I need safe, regular routine. Otherwise, I spin into a panic attack pretty quickly. It’s…it’s not a way to live. I’m talking to a therapist and building a toolbox, and it helps but I’ll never be a risk-taker. I quite enjoy being boring!
Recent purchase: Just ordered some more UD Primer Potion from Sephora so I could also get my birthday freebie before the month ends (I went for the Laneige set).
Weekend plans: I don’t feel like dealing with holiday weekend crowds and traffic so probably mostly stay close to home, take advantage of the nice weather to do some yard work, get some takeout, read a lot. Maybe take a long walk or two around town.
Am I a big risk taker? NOOOOOO. I am HIGHLY risk adverse. It’s hilarious because I work in cryptocurrency, a very risky industry, but I don’t deal with any of the risky areas of it (except for the risk of how it’s probably damaged my resume to work in a controversial field, lol).
Aww! A hiccuping baby pooch just brought a ray of joy into my life! 🐶
Purchases/rediscoveries: Another week of no color cosmetics. Just took advantage of an Ulta sale for my HG Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Lavender Mint shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately, they are just the 10 oz. size, but I was all out of conditioner, so.
No rediscoveries either. I haven’t worn makeup in over a week because I’ve been pretty ill with *some* virus. Tested negative for Covid, but my friend who is an EMT has also been sick, got a negative result, but her Doc explained to her that sometimes the South African variant gives false negative test results. Idk what to make of this info.
Weekend Plans: Just resting up and trying to get well.
Are you a risk taker? Not really. At least now not so much. I’m thoroughly daunted at the prospect of even moving cross country, even though I want and need this desperately. Oh, that I still had that old “can do, will do” motivation I once had in abundance!
I hope you get well soon!
Thank you so much, Helene! I am feeling much better today, thank goodness.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new cosmetic wise.
Weekend plans: We got a wellness day off from work today, so last night I purchased a ticketed entry to museums in San Francisco. Long drive, I’ll probably hate the traffic on my way back tonight, but I haven’t been to an art museum for almost 18 months.
On Saturday and Sunday I plan to go hiking, and on Monday I’ll take care of all the chores remaining.
Are you a risk-taker?: I would say no, I am generally a person who likes her routines. I don’t take financial risks, I plan all my decisions, I make sure everything is safe.
But… I still enjoy rock climbing during hikes; I hiked alone in secluded areas and most people consider it risky. I moved almost 5 years ago alone from Europe to US. I has a wonderful long relationship with a man I met on the Internet and had a date after one week of conversation (we weren’t even living in the same city).
I still don’t consider myself a risk-taker. I just take risky decisions from time to time. 😅
Winston is adorable!
I doubt Winston enjoyed having hiccups but I sure enjoyed watching him.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I restocked Olaplex 0 and Olaplex 3. I hit TJ Maxx and Marshall’s this afternoon and picked up Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eye Shadows in Nude Awakening and Smoky Silk and Semi-Gloss Lip and Eye Paints in Botticelli and Bellini. I thought the last two were also Suede Shade Liquids or I would not have bought them but they do look pretty on my eyes although they are too pale for my lips.
Weekend plans: Nothing special. Maybe a barbecue at a friend’s place on Monday.
Are you a risk-taker?: I don’t do things that are risky physically and never have, but I have taken risks in other aspects of my life, more so when I was younger.
Winston is soooo cute , his whole body jiggles with the hiccups..lol..
Recent purchases YSL NYC Jungle …and rediscoveries ? Playing with my Shiseido Rouge Rouge ..( still shocked did Shiseido dc’d them What a beautiful formula .
Also playing with ,my By Terry compact Expert dual powder ..love them as a blush topper.
Risk taker ..Honestly not really …however I had to take a leap at a time when a relationship was ending and I was selling a business at the same time ..I felt like I didn’t have a clue where I was going or how anything would work out but everything fell into place .It took a lot of trust in the unknown .
I’ve just received my Pat McGrath order. I bought the eyeshadow quad and a blush. Theres one of the shadows that I don’t think I’ll like. It’s the rosy one that’s more of a glitter base. The brown matte shadow and blush are so smooth. Awesome.
No real plans for the weekend. Need to grocery shop, but may just place and order and pick it up.
I most definitely am not a risk taker. Not even a little bit.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchases for a while but I am going to go HAM when Lisa Eldridge’s pre-order goes live! I’m planning a spending freeze in June but I’m going out with a bang. For my rediscoveries, I’ve been using the ND bloom palette raspberry cream blush quite a bit and I pulled out Pat McGrath La Vie en Rose for the first time in a while for that purple.
Weekend plans: Memorial Day party with my family! Barbecue, ice cream and the sprinkler 🙂
Are you a risk-taker?: Not really, I tend to be avoidant. When I was younger I used to be the girl who walked around at night with headphones in (yikes!) but nowadays I don’t even have much risk opportunity! that’s perfectly fine with me, but who knows if God will change that.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My mom recently made a Walgreens order, so I tossed in a Revlon Satin Ink Silky Sienna liquid lipstick to get to the free shipping minimum-on me, it might make a decent dupe for the discontinued Rhubarb gel lipstick I couldn’t get. Tonight I picked up a new bottle of L’Oreal glycolic acid serum while getting grave decorations at Walmart-I ran out of the serum and really need it today, because I accidentally cut my arm!*
Weekend plans: Worked all day and bought silk flowers for some of the family graves (technically soldiers’ graves are the only ones that are supposed to be decorated on Memorial Day, but my family’s always disregarded that rule and decorated graves for as many family members as we can manage) today, grocery run tomorrow evening, Sunday’s up in the air, actually decorate the graves Monday.
Are you a risk-taker?: Not really, except with my makeup! Case in point: Today I adapted a look that Euphoria makeup artist Doniella Davy did on one of the show’s stars, Hunter Schaefer-hot pink shadow on lid and undereye and purple mascara. Doniella took the shadow all the way over Hunter’s brows, but I only kept it as high as the transition, and when I got home I added Marc Jacobs Love Drunk lipgloss.
*I can be a bit clumsy-the type who can get a cut or a bruise and not remember where or when it happened-and I’ve had quite a bit of luck reducing or eliminating (depending on the size) scarring if I put the glycolic acid serum on cuts.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: AROMATICA – Organic Aloe Vera Gel JUMBO. My last order was May 20th!
Weekend plans: I want to try something else from Korean cosmetics. For example : COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50
Are you a risk-taker?: Yes )
Recent purchases – I went to Shoppers on Thursday – not to my regular location but one on the way home from school. They were out of SO MUCH – basic stuff like the deodorant I like, almost all the LRP sunscreens (including the ones I was shopping for). I did buy a facial one from Avene (I think) for my husband to try and a cheap spray one to use on my chest and neck (I thought it would be quick and easy but I might have got a wonky one because it’s hard to spray and goes everywhere!). I also found another bottle of Laura Biagiotti ROMA for $19.99. I looked at their Milani display but couldn’t even think what I might have wanted to buy so I didn’t buy all that much and still need some good sunscreen!
Weekend plans: dropping several bags of groceries at a food bank at a church in the neighbourhood (in past, their youth group would do a huge event and pick up groceries at houses in the ‘hood but they’ve had to adapt this year because of Covid), going to the library and out for coffee. The weather is cooler and nicer so walking to these places will be lovely. Maybe trying a new recipe but that’s about it.
Am I a risk taker? I work with teenagers – a lot of people think THAT is risky enough. But, no, I’m not. I might take more physical risks if I didn’t have a really bad knee that is getting worse (knee replacement surgery is something I’ve tried to postpone but I think it’s becoming more of a reality) but even hiking on uneven terrain is out of the question for me now. And in many ways, I think daily life (driving, for example) is risky enough and I still want to live a few more decades and be safe!
Adorable Winston! Having hiccups, poor baby boy. He is so cute.
I see you still have wonderfully strong and beautiful nails, Christine. I sometime miss the nail polish reviews.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchases. I decided to stop evaluating my bigger palettes for a bit (I’m trying to purge my stash of makeup a bit) and instead started trying on all of my Dior quints. It’s interesting as some of them are really old, but still seems OK to use. So far I’ve tossed three and kept three I found I really enjoyed using. I’m still going through my lip products, it’s a slow going as I can’t just pick a random lipstick if it clashes terribly with the rest of the makeup/outfit. It’s a bit of fun, some of the lipsticks make me wonder what I was thinking, and then I try them on and sort of like them (in some cases hate how they look). It’s also interesting to find a lipstick that are useable though it probably is three decades old, and finding ones that are two years old and completely turned bad.
Weekend plans: Nothing really, walking Stubbs the standard black schnauzer, gardening, just the usual.
Are you a risk-taker?: I don’t think I ever was, and these days I suffer from depression and have high anxiety levels so I don’t need much before going into full panic. I like the idea of parachuting or mountain climbing, but would never be able to actually do anything like that.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I needed some sunscreen so now that I have an employee discount I shopped at Sephora and got the Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion. Also needed a new brown eyeliner because the Colourpop Creme Gel Liner just kept breaking until I had “used” it all up, so this time I got the KVD Vegan Beauty Tattoo Liner in “Mad Max Brown”. Also as a small gift for my sister since she just finished her first year of college I got her the Laniege Lip Balm in “Berry” and one of the store’s last Becca Highlighters. Finally as a small something for myself I got the Fenty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick in “Goji Gang”
Weekend plans: Just resting at home. My sister is doing her usual livestream tonight, so other than that I’ll have plenty of time to get a chance to edit videos and work out
Are you a risk-taker?: Yes and no. When I am taking risks to me they don’t feel like risks, at least not at the time. However there are a few things where the moment I hear about them my brain immediately says “nope”. But this pandemic has made me into a lot bigger of a risk-taker than I was previously, at least in the short term. Now that I’m slowly emerging out into the world there’s a lot of things I’m saying yes to that I don’t think I would have agreed to trying pre-pandemic
Poor Winston, trying to work out what hiccups are all about!
Recent Purchases and Rediscoveries: Nada!
Weekend Plans: I have spent the past week in hospital suffering from a kidney stone. I went into our local hospital in a great deal of pain last Monday night and was admitted immediately. The staff were fantastic and for a change, they were having one of their rare quiet moments, so I got the undivided attention from all the staff on night duty in the emergency deptartment.
I have had a stent put in so that the stone (a big one) can hopefully pass through and the surgeon laser blasted some of it to make it smaller. I have to have it all removed in the following week or so.
As we have had up to 25 cases of Covid here this past week, lockdown was declared for a week, so we have the kids at home for the week as both of my sons’ are now working from home. So it will be a full house. You really can’t book a holiday interstate or even in regional Victoria at the moment. Masks are back, 5 km limits are back and shops etc are closed. Something we are now all too familiar with.
So I will be resting this weekend. I am feeling much better.
Risk taker – No, I am not really a risk taker at all. I prefer things to be organised, routined, practical etc. And given that our world is at such risk from a virus, is enough for me at this present time.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Wayne Goss Edit Brush Collection; Bobbi Brown Pink Glow Eyeshadow Palette. Pre-ordered from Lisa Eldridge’s Spring/Summer collection.
Weekend Plans: Lots of cleaning up inside and outside the house. Reviewing a landscaping contract to get an unruly backyard that came with the house we purchased paired back and under control.
Risk Taker? Nope. I believe in taking calculated risks. I have a natural setting to view something risky as something not to do and need to be pulled in that direction. If I have good information, I can usually see that benefit of taking action that I first thought was too risky.
Finds/Rediscoveries: Wayne Goss Edit Brush Collection; Bobbi Brown Pink Glow Luxe Eyeshadow Palette. Pre-ordered from Lisa Eldridge’s Spring/Summer collection.
Weekend Plans: Lots of cleaning inside and yardwork outside. Going through clothing I had in storage for a number of years to see what fits/is in style, what can be donated and where textiles can be recycled. Reviewing a landscaping contract to address the overgrown gardens in the backyard of the house we bought last fall. Hoping food from the BBQ graces my dinner plates this weekend.
Risk Taker? Nope! I take calculated risks but my inclination is to resist at first until I have more information that will make me feel comfortable enough to make a decision to proceed.
