What are three products that you really should declutter?
Urban Decay’s older eyeshadows (so way more than three!), now that they’ve come out with a reformulation. I typically recycle/donate (usually, the products are too old to donate in this instance) once a brand reformulates a core range. At most, I’ll keep a few interesting shades that weren’t included in the relaunch.
UD’s 24/7 pencil shadows (I have 4 of them, I think) – they’re dried up and hard and unusable but for some reason, I keep them in a drawer with rarely used stuff); Nars Baalbek gel liner/shadow (it’s a gorgeous shade but has also showing its age, though I can still use it with a bit of Inglot Duraline as a great shadow or base for a powder shadow); Dior Ebloui Illusion d’Ombre shadow – it was never a great colour for me (a bit too red/warm) and it now looks a bit like a shrunken turd but it was so pricey and I’d craved it so much that I keep it for nostalgia (and it, too, is actually still usable, despite the shrunken, “turd” look).
Shrunken turd look 😆
I have a lot of older than I care to realize lipsticks that I cannot part with but should. They don’t smell off and they still apply well but still…lol
I should really go through my lipsticks, especially my liquid lipsticks. I’m sure I’d find more than 3 that are no longer good.
Just about all my lip products. One gloss and one MLBB are really all I need because I so rarely wear anything but balm. The issue is that they can’t be donated, won’t work as cheek colors, and I am too lazy to clean out the tubes and recycle them.
I should probably get rid of my eyeliners, I haven’t use them in a year… and there’s 3 of them.
Especially the Charlotte Tilbury Rock’n’Kohl Eye Cheat. I simply hate the formula, I have purchased it to brighten my eyes, but it’s too creamy and barely stays put.
A lot?
For one thing, some older MAC lipsticks and Lipglasses that now smell like crayons or something!
Another would be some bulky, almost never used eyeshadow palettes. Like KVD MetalMatte.
That’s why I love the MAC recycling program. If my MAC stuff gets too old (or I am not fond of something) I just trade them in for a new lipstick or shadow that I WILL use. Guilt-free decluttering.
That is a good program. However the nearest MAC store is an hour away for me. And even to mail it in, it requires effort. Right now I have an overflowing bag of old compacts just sitting there waiting to B2M lol
At this moment, I have nothing I really should declutter but that is because I spent the day last Saturday decluttering my entire collection. I went through eyeshadows, blushes, face products, eye and lip liners, lipsticks and lipglosses. There was so much that I had never even tried and I probably decluttered about 1/3 of what I had.
I was exhausted by the end of the day.
Of the items I kept, I plan to use something different everyday until I have tried everything that is left at least once to decide if I should still keep it or donate it.
And speaking of donating, Christine, where do you donate your products to? I have a lot of barely used or brand new product that really should not end up in the trash. I did dispose of the non-powder products since no one wants a lipstick after someone has used it, especially in the days of COVID, amirite?
I’ve done it with a local organization, though they’re not currently accepting any donations.
Thank you for the reply. Drats! I will have to ask Professor Google to help me then.
Project Beutyshare will accept donations.
Thank you, Teresa, I will look into that.
Many times in the past I’ve donated makeup products to the local funeral homes. Dead people don’t care if the lipstick was used or not. Just a thought.
Gah! And it is too late now, the trash was already picked up. 😩
Oh well, I will keep that in mind for my next decluttering.
Thank you!
A bunch of old Dior quints, several old Nars duo eye shadow quads. Lots of lip sticks and a few concealers . I try hard to recycle/reuse but most of these products would have to be thrown away. I struggle with throwing makeup in the trash but it needs to be done.
I really don’t have three products to declutter at the moment as I have done one recently. Probably some lipsticks, but I love and use them all.
Lipsticks, lipglosses and more lipsticks. I’ve decluttered everything else, it’s just so hard to look at those pretty colors and think of getting rid of any of them when they still look, smell and perform well. I will do it, when I’m finished my basement! I’m getting so used to getting rid of everything, by then a few (hahahahaha) lipsticks won’t kill me!
Eyeshadow, eyeshadow, eyeshadow, mascara, old eyeliner, some skin care desperately need to be evaluated. I also need to check lippies of all kinds but did that not long ago.
I have a small box of mostly eye palettes and blushes I decluttered last month and need to wrap up and mail off.
II need to throw out my old Jordana (RIP) colored mascaras.
I recently decluttered so many lip products. I was shocked that my not even 2 year old glossier lipstick was smelling like a box of ancient crayons. Low shelf life has really turned me off from brands because I simply don’t go through makeup.
