Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation SPF 15…my first foundation ever (not counting the bottle of drugstore foundation I bought at the age of about 12, which was also way too dark for me). It’s been over a year since I bought it and the bottle’s almost empty now. I’m quite pleased, but not really impressed with it. I still need to test other foundations to be able to compare it though. Currently I’m thinking about testing Bobbi’s new “Skin Foundation”…

Mac Studio Fix Fluid, it covers wonderfully and is a perfect match, but sometimes I wish for a foundation that wouldn’t be so matte…
that’s why I’m so eagerly waiting for Studio Sculpt, maybe that’ll be HG material 🙂

Katrina Avatar

MAC studiofix NC30 (powder).. It’s the only foundation that matches my skin and I like the matte finish it gives me. Still searching for something that would beat my foundi.

Myxa Avatar

Smashbox SPF 15 – although I think I got the wrong shade. Also, Dior Forever powder foundation – that is quite nice, but the smell is very flowery and old ladyish. Will keep looking. I want to try MAC Studio Fix Fluid and Sculpt.

Dee Avatar

MAC satinfinish fluid. I loved the mineralize powder so much I wanted to try the liquid. It’s not really Holy Grail for me, but I like it fine. It’s about on par with what I was using before(Moistureblend)

CeeBee Avatar

I tried DiorSkin Nude this morning and OH MI GOD! It is amazing! I got given a sample by my lovely Dior SA Pam last night and I tried it on this morning and it is beyond incredible! Flawless coverage, blends like a dream and looks so completely natural – more so that any other foundation I’ve ever tried. Once I see how it lasts on, I’m going to buy a bottle!!!

Otherwise, at the moment I’m using Estee Lauder Double Wear Light and I am very happy with the coverage and staying power.

kat Avatar

just bought it and love it! i applied this on one side of my face and mac’s sculpt on the other and no one could tell the diff….actually my friends thought maybelline looked cleaner… 🙂

Sara Kye Avatar

I’m using powder foundation as of now because I don’t need the coverage that much and it’s too hot for liquid. The brand is Za, just a drugstore brand. Medium coverage, and gives me a matte or rather ‘satin’ (in mac terms) finish. It also sort of bronzes my face up a little, I don’t know how since the color is a match to my skin tone but I look more sun-kissed and less pale and chalky with it on.

Hi Christine! 🙂
I’m using several foundations: Double Wear, Double Wear light, Red earth perfect definition, Maybelline Mineral, Clarins Truly Matte and YSL perfect Touch.

Morning Christine,

I use:

MUFE HD with the green primer. Can’t use the foundation without it!

Mac studio Stick
Studio Tech

Lazy days I just

Mac MSF in Med. Buff it in and it’s out the door!

I’m dying to try the new Mac foundation though!!

Taj Avatar

I switch all the time, but lately I stick to Sisley oil-free. It gives me such nice velvety finish yet brightens up my face with reasonable coverage all at once.

Chrystie Avatar

MAC Studio Fix is fantastic. I don’t have the clearest skin, so to be able to have something with good coverage that is lightweight is fantastic.

Inky Avatar

I’ve been using MUFE Matte Velvet (color 30) for a while now. I apply it with a synthetic foundation brush from Sephora and use Coastal Scents Silica Spheres over it (in place of MUFE HD powder). I love the matte finish and coverage and have to use very little product to achieve a good result.

Crystal Avatar

Revlon Custom Creation in Medium. I bought it around the holidays when my wallet couldnt afford to spend $25 on studio tech and now I love it! Very smooth great coverage but still light, and for $7 cant go wrong!

reesa Avatar

Not sure if I’ll ever find an HG. I use a number of different foundations for different coverage/look, etc. And I’m always trying new ones. Here are the ones that I’m loving now:

MAC Studio Fix fluid
MAC SatinFinish / MAC MSF
Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer
Lumiere Mineral cosmetics – Veena Velvet

lala Avatar

MAC Satinfinish Foundation. It gives me that healthy glow. So def. = love! (I don’t top it with any powder since my skin likes it on its own).

Of course I love the NMSF on its own as well (but my skin gets so irritated *extremely red*) so …thats a bummer.

Dewy_Blueeyes Avatar

Today I’m on a sample of the new Dior Nude Hydrating foundation….nice but need to try another colour to see if I could go a shade darker!

Mischel Avatar

studio fix fluid is my favorite bec. of it’s coverage that i don’t need to put in concealer, sometimes i used studio fix stick and studio fix powder.

AshBash Avatar

MAC studio tech. i had studio fix but since it’s winter time, its the wrong color. i dont like the shine i get with studio tech. i think im going to get some MSF to put on top.

mahalia Avatar

Studio fix fluid nw45. It looks too dark in the bottle but lightens to my color once it settles. This great vs. Nc50 that starts out my color but ends up looking chalky on my skin!

Jess Avatar

I’m using Laura Mercier Mineral powder foundation and I love it! It is my HG! It gives flawless even coverage, a nice luminous finish without the metallic look Bare Minerals has, gives my skin a nice glow. I have very little oil breakthrough which is awesome because usually my foundation disappears during the day. Its easy to use and has good light-medium coverage. I use a little under my eyes for concealer and I apply it all over my face with the bare minerals handy buki brush for slightly fuller coverage. I love the sifter it has so you don’t waste a whole bunch of product just opening and closing the lid. If I could change anything I’d make more colors and make it cheaper of course!

Rena Avatar

MAC studio fix powder (NC20). I hate it. I’m only going to finish using it because then I’ll have my six empty containers I can return.
I think my skin is too dry for powder, it just sits on my face and doesn’t look natural.
I can’t wait to try studio sculpt!

valerie Avatar

I have to have super full coverage! So I’m back to Bare Minerals…I’m using Golden Medium as a base concealer/brightener, then using Warm Tan to get the right coloring. Both are super opaque and give me great coverage without additional concealer. I always feel bad when I go to the MAC store, like at last night’s event, and the MAC girls and boys are asking how I get such perfect skin! hehehehe =)
PS> I use either Fix+ or Evian Water Mist Spray (I don’t remember the real name) or some kind of mineral spritz after I use any powder/mineral foundation. Then I use my softest brush to gently pat down my makeup. This way it looks dewy and natural instead of powdery.
For liquid, I keep going back to Revlon Colorstay. I’ve tried Chanel and others but this stuff just works. I can buy as many shades and/or formulas as I need because it’s so affordable.
Oh, and one more thing…I agree with Inky…”Coastal Scents Silica Spheres over it (in place of MUFE HD powder).” Feels so good!

Joanna Avatar

I used to use Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich w/SPF 15, but my skin is very dry, especially in the winter and that just wasn’t enough moisture for me. I’ve been using (only 4 days now) Clinique Supermoisture and so far so good, but I think I got it a shade too dark. Any suggestions for dry, sensitive skin would be greatly appreciated! There are just so many to choose from.

KaylaK Avatar

I am currently using Superfit from Clinique when I need coverage, it does the job for me but I have to mix my Prescriptives custom blend tinted moisturizer w/ it since the lightest shade is still like a shade too dark for me, nooo lines for me! lol I am chomping at the bit to try the Studio Sculpt from MAC though, but my other possibly experiments include Bobbi Brown and Dior’s new foundations too.

Stacey Avatar

I always wear either Hyperreal, Select Tint or Stick. I like all of them. I tried Studio Sculpt a couple of days ago, but I really need to get my own tube so I can have a play around with it to get the coverage I want.

Tam Avatar

I have extremely oily skin (doesn’t break out, just crazy oily) and the only thing I have tried that doesn’t make me look like an oil slick in an hour is Revlon Color Stay Oil-Free. It’s a little thick so I usually am very careful to put it on as thin but even as possible but I love it! I have tried most of the others that people mentioned above and they are gross on me.

Catherine Avatar

EDM semi-matte. Aaaaand, it’s a semi-matte finish lol. I love this b/c it gives good sheer-medium coverage depending on what my skin is doing, I look airbrushed if I do a good job buffing and it stays on all day over my sunscreen and it doesn’t break me out. I also don’t get very oily with this foundation and what I do get is nothing a blotting paper can’t take care of. I do have to say though, if I use too much it does start looking cakey.

Sasha Avatar

MAC Select Tint (although the shade too light for me)
Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder

I’ve been eager to use the MUFE High Def I purchased over the holidays, but I chose the wrong shade, so that needs to be exchanged. I’m also curious to see how it compares to Smashbox’s High Def. foundation.

Mariana Avatar

I am constantly on a search for the best—I love the coverage of MAC foundations, but they break me out. I have discovered MUFE Mat+ Velvet and I am really liking it. I think it is certainly a keeper!

Fie Avatar

I’ve only recently started using MUFE HD foundation. It’s really love! It doesn’t oxidize on my (oily when foundation is on) skin and the coverage is so flawless! It’s my current HG but the price is going to kill me in the long run.

Kathleen Avatar

I switch between Bare Escentuals Fairly Light and LORAC Natural Performance foundation 117. I have oily, acne prone skin, and FINALLY I found the PERFECT foundations!!!

karen Avatar

I was a BE in light for years, but now I’m all about Laura Geller’s Balance N Brighten Baked Powder in Fair. It is Fab! Lasts all day, with little to no need of my MAC blot powder.

Karla Avatar

I sometimes wear clinique perfectly real foundation (N1) the lightest shade avaliable, and then the lightest pressed powder to set it. OR MAC studio tech NC25 which I blended with the cliniqe foundation. I’m pretty pale and olive. If I spray with fix plus spray after applying that my skin is perfect. Matte finish, not to shiny… looks just like my skin but better.

Tiera Avatar

My daily foundation is MAC Mineralize Loose in Medium Plus. Very buildable and always feels light on the skin. Sometimes I go with MSF Natural for even lighter coverage. For full coverage, I’m all about MUFE HD Invisible Cover. HG for sure!

Bridget Avatar

I’ve been using Mark’s Flawless Touch liquid makeup for a few months. The finish is pretty matte and I hate it. I’m not buying another foundation until this one is used up and I apply it when I don’t have to just to use it up more quickly. Sticky, bad coverage, face drying garbage.

Katy Avatar

I use MUFE Mat Velvet, with MUFE HD powder. I love the powder, and I like the foundation better than any other I’ve ever tried (And I’ve tried tons of foundations. Lol.) But I use the lightest shade in it, and sometimes it is still too dark for my skin tone. I think I’ll stick with it for awhile until I do find my HG foundation though.

victoria Avatar

studio fix fluid when the weather is dry otherwise, studio fix powder. it’s the only foundation that matches my skin and has good coverage. i have oily combination skin so it really helps keep the oilies at bay. i broke out with mineral makeup so i have a phobia trying anything different but you never know i might decide to be adventurous one day.

Macaddict Avatar

I switch between MAC Studio Fix (powder)in NC30 and Lancome Colour Hydra Compact in Beige Albatre (cream). I fell in love with the cream medium since last fall – maybe it’s because of the season/weather (fall and winter). So, even though I wasn’t really interested in the upcoming MAC Studio Sculpt foundation, I am now curious and will def give it a try… I have combination skin but my skin soaks up all the moisture I give it! I have had maybe 5 pimples in my lifetime! LOL
With all the rave reviews you ladies are giving to MUFE HD foundation, I have to admit that I am tempted to try it too! Can someone tell me what would be the difference between a regular foundation and a HD one? Thanx in advance.

Helena Avatar

I wish I knew what the perfect foundation for my skin is…once I’m older and have a job, I figure I’ll find out. Oh, well. My skin’s not too horrible; perhaps I only need concealer? Then again, I don’t have that, either. :/

Kellye Avatar

I’m also using the MUFE Mat+ Velvet, over Laura Geller Spackle. It gives great coverage and I can use a foundation brush or my Sonia Kashuk knock-off sponge.

Calico Avatar

Estee Lauder Double Wear – and it is my HG!!!
And everytime I change, I am so sorry I wasted my money.

Sometimes though it works well in conjunction with others, as the lightest shade is only just light enough for me.

This has the BEST coverage, is build-able, non-greasy, non drying, and it lasts all day. I don’t know why this isn’t a cult favorite.

I have bad pigmentation, and dry skin.

Frances Avatar

Thanks to you, I’m absolutely LOVING MAC Studio Fix Fluid. It makes your skin look beyond flawless, and it photographs really well, doesn’t it? Thanks so much, Christine!

Sunni Avatar

EDM Mineral makeup (mix of intensive and glo)- Use in summer but too dry for me to use in the winter. Nice but not HG.
I just bought Maybelline dream liquid mousse to try and it is nicer then I expected. Decent coverage and a nice finish, but color match could be better.

I really want to try MUFE HD and the new MAC foundation.

CoverGirl Trublend Microminerals Foundation in Ivory. My skintone’s light, but yellow-undertoned, and CG has the right amount of yellow in their ivory shades.
