I got the email from Beautylish about these yesterday – they look nice but that powder brush would cost me the equivalent of very nearly $280, with currency conversion and taxes – and while I have a reasonably healthy level of disposable income, that sort of spending on a luxury item sight unseen in the current climate is a no-go for me.

I’d love to see a side-by-side of a fully made up face with the same products & techniques used – only the brushes varying. One side good quality low priced brushes, the other side, something like these.
I have never imagined that I’d be able the see the difference in a meaningful way, and so am not tempted by super expensive (to me) brushes. Even if the experience of applying products felt much better – it’s not important enough to me to splurge. My current brushes feel fine, and work to my requirements. Maybe if I was a pro MUA doing cover shoots….. Curious how you all think about this.

I can just feel the soft silky bristles sliding over my face. I already have my share of brushes but just imagining a fresh new brush gliding across my face always entices me. I’m not buying anymore brushes but if someone was in need of some it would be interesting to see what the reviews are like on these.

If money was no object, I would love to pick these up. As it stands, only my husband has been working this past year (I’ve been virtually schooling our second grade son). So these are one of those purchases that will never be justified (like the Dyson Airwrap…sigh). I will say, I do appreciate using better brushes. But knowing I spent this much on brushes would make me feel guilty every time I did my makeup instead of making me feel good. 😕

Pretty. But I do not support animal hair brushes. I’m not a vegan, or even a vegetarian, but ripping hair out of animals we don’t even eat or use, like squirrel? Fuck that. And fuck companies for doing it. I just read L’Oreal isn’t going to use animal hair in their brushes from here forward. Good on them. If the big companies are doing it, it’s time for the smaller ones to get on board. Put that money in to manufacturing higher quality synthetic rather than hunting down squirrels and farming badgers.

I want luxe synthetic brushes that don’t cost an arm and a leg with the illusion that paying an exorbitant amount somehow makes them luxe rather than craftsmanship.
