Best Products of the Week | Vol. 299
Hope your weekend is starting off on the right note! Every Saturday, I like to share the top 10 products from the last week of reviews. It’s a nice way to highlight what reviews have been published recently. Similarly, I love reading–and I know others enjoy sharing!–their own “week in review” when it comes to what makeup/beauty products they may have used and/or enjoyed.

Your skin tone/coloring: below my name
Look you loved this week?: I went for understated purple all week. Ilined my eyes with UD 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eyeliner-in Psychedelic Sister (bright purple) and used the plum shimmer from Viseart Tryst on my lids and blended into my crease. I put some of the copper shade in my inner corners and the pale matte shade from crease to brow. I used Uoma Drama Bomb black mascara and Becca blush in Snapdragon. It is so nice to wear blush again now that we don’t have to wear masks everywhere.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: The UD eyeliner in Psychedelic Sister.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I am looking forward to the arrival of
my On the Horizon palette, although Tryst is my project pan for June.
Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Look you loved this week?: Hahahaha….I mentioned about the teaching job I’m doing now. One of our students (ASD but clearly there is more going on – I’ve suspected something physical/neurological for some time; ASD doesn’t rule out other issues and he is nonverbal and the family are refugees so not a lot of medical background) – anyway, he has become increasing aggressive so we now all have protective gear – head protection, Kevlar jackets, wrist guards, etc. – so even LESS of my face is visible now (we are still wearing masks in school). So “look”??? When I take off my head protection and hat that holds it in place and my hair still looks okay – THAT is my favourite look!!!
Any new or old favorites discovered?: And old favourite – Inglot 422 eyeshadow. It is such a beautiful eyeshadow shade and a perfect “one and done” for me.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: Inglot 422, UD Mrs. Mia Wallace (I’m in the mood for a RED lipstick even though my mask covers it; I’ll wear it tomorrow – so technically still “this week”, I guess – for Fathers Day brunch). If it arrives in time, of course my Temptalia On the Horizon palette.
Oh Mariella – you should be earning danger money in this job! How difficult it must be for his family and the school to manage this young man’s behaviour.
I feel for his family very much. Apparently, they’re in danger of being evicted (they live in an apartment) because of other tenants upset by the noise he makes and also their concerns about being in public areas (elevator, lobby, etc.) if he arrives. Mom and Dad are lovely people and goodness knows, they have their struggles. But with the language barrier, their personal background in a war-torn place and other concerns, they have ruled out even exploring medications (“We don’t want him to get addicted to drugs” – they don’t see the difference between drugs and medications) and we’re hoping we can get them at least to consider some medical exploration to see if (as we suspect) he is having seizure activity or perhaps even a brain tumor or something in other areas of his body causing him pain (he has recently – last 2 weeks – started banging his head on the floor or cinderblock walls almost as though there is some sort of pain he’s trying to deal with).
Protective gear at work, not being military, law enforcement or maybe first responder but a teacher! In the summer! I recall having to wear lead apron and throat protection in the operation theatre, that was awfully hot and uncomfortable. but at least we hardly moved around. I hope the the boy will get more help, or that you get help dealing with him, poor kid.
What a job you do! I’m full of admiration, I could never do it, unfortunately I think I’d be much too impatient to be any kind of teacher.
Red lipsticks are so good for the mood, I think. I didn’t buy Mrs. Mia Wallace, I guess I have some dupes though.
Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Look you loved this week?: I did a neon pink and purple look that I really loved! Here’s the link if you want to see: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQL4zlFpRaS/?utm_medium=copy_link
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Not really!
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: My BH Cosmetics 00’s palette came in, so I’m looking forward to using that. I was hoping my Clionadh order would be in, but it’s been stuck in customs in Chicago for a week. 😭
Lovely, colourful eye look, But your earrings (or earring)! It is gorgeous!
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Look you loved this week?: Last Friday I did an eye look featuring all of the shades in CT’s The Rebel 2020 – with the gold shade over the lid, the soft olive green on the mobile lid and the other two shades were either placed in the crease or on the lower lash line (I forget which) and I paired it with Maybelline’s Spice for Me lipstick. I really loved the look.
Any new or old favorites discovered?: CT’s The Rebel 2020
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I have no idea…..
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; cherry cola hair w/violet tint; hazel/green eyes.
Look you loved this week?: It took a lot of work to blend, but I got a really pretty, grungy, matte green smokey eye with the ColourPop x Raw Beauty Kristi Palette. Maybe I’ll try it with the Anastasia primer. Anyway…
EYES: TFSI. CP X RBK At Forest Site Palette — Old Growth (inner half of crease), Puffball (outer half of crease, lower lid), Emerald City (out corner of crease and lid, lower lash line), Fiddlehead (rest of lid, deep crease), and Amanita and Homegrown (mixed for brows). A matte semi-sheer white from Honeybee Gardens (brown bone). The matte bright yellow from the VE Cosmetics Frankly Palette (inner corner). Tarte Tarteist Clay Paint Liner in Navy (upper lash line, lower waterline). UD Perversion Mascara. LIPS — a mix of BH Cosmetics Waterproof Lip Liners (DC) in Samantha and Muse. CHEEKS — A bright coral Tarte blush (I can’t remember which one) and Shimmering Skin Perfector in Dreamsicle. FACE — Milk Watermelon Brightening Serum, Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation in Fair, a Frankenstein mix of setting powders, L.A. Girl Just Because Powder Blush in Just Because… (as contour), CP x Mulan Pressed Blush in Matchmaker (as bronzer), City Color Cosmetics Intense Exposure Highlighting Powder, and CP All Star Mattifying Setting Spray (DC?).
Any new or old favorites discovered?: No, but using the ColourPop x Raw Beauty Kristi palette made me realize it’s just OK. Several of the matte shades are really hard to blend. Still, it’s a better grungy palette for me than Melt 420.
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: I’m camping next week, in hot weather, so I’ll be taking a minimum of makeup. I will be using Nutragena’s Sheer Zinc Mineral sunscreen for the first time, because I can’t use chemical sunscreen on my face, so I’m hoping it’s good stuff.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name, grey green eyes, dark brown hair
Look you loved this week?: Sort of, but maybe for strange reasons, I used the Tarte palette shaped like a pineapple, I used a pink/copper all over the lids, a matte warm shade very like the first one in the crease and over the hoods, followed by a very light matte on the browbone and finally a light shimmer on the inner corners. I had a lighter brown eyeliner and black mascara. I can’t recall lipstick, but I think I used three different ones during the day. It didn’t look bad, but the fun part was me falling asleep on the sofa, waking up, took the dog for a walk and then sat around for quite some time and the eye makeup was still in place, some 30 hours after I applied it. I call that staying power! 😀
Any new or old favorites discovered?: Not really, no-
Any product you’re hoping to use next week?: SG Temptalia palettes, but I’ll have to wait more than a week, I’m sure, I will have to pay tax and stuff before I can admire the palettes in person and that takes more than a week.
Maybe I’ll find some new old makeup to try out to keep the sorting and purging going.
