I don’t use sponges that often, but I will sometimes use them with drier foundations or for diffusing cream highlighter/blush along the edges (with a bit of foundation).

I like to use sponges for applying foundation and for blending out concealer. I feel it gives a more natural/sheer finish. I have used brushes in the past but those are better for when I want a “full coverage” type finish.
I like sponges for my thicker foundations, like my KGD Maifanshi Moisture Makeup or Tarte Amazonian Clay. Sometimes I use the mini sponges to apply cream concealer to my eyelids because it is easier to get into the corners than with my fingers. The mini sponges also are nice to apply setting powder for undereye concealer although I generally use a brush for this.

I use sponges to apply my foundation, basically because all of mine have a creamier consistency and also because I have texture going on due to large pores and some deeper expression lines going from the sides of my nose towards my mouth. Sponges allow me to get more even coverage. I also use them to pounce in my concealer for a seamless application.
I have certain foundations that just apply better with a sponge such as thicker foundations. Even when using a lighter foundation, I almost always use a sponge towards the end of my makeup application to set everything in. I spray the sponge with MAC Fix + and lightly pat it over my face to meld everything together. I also like using the little sponges that come in a lot of eye shadow palettes, to apply really shimmery eye shadows. I dampen it and it works great and even with eye shadows that normally have a lot of fall out, they apply with much less or no fall out at all.

I really enjoy sponges for foundations, especially thicker ones as a few others have mentioned but even my lightweight ones apply nicely w/a sponge. I also prefer packing sponges for makeup application when traveling, or occasionally using smaller sponges to help with reapplying sunscreen over makeup throughout the day. Most of my brushes do the job as well, but for sunscreen application in particular I’ve found sponges or cushion compacts give me the most even application without smudging my makeup.
Though I think in the future I might try using sponges for cream blushes, I’m very curious if that would be a smoother application then just using fingers on the Fenty or Patrick Ta blushes as an example.
I use beauty blender type sponges with most foundations.
I use a beauty blender after I apply my cream formulas to blend everything together, it makes my makeup look airbrushed.
None – I really don’t like using sponges at all. I think they are hard to keep clean and require a lot of maintenance to do so. Furthermore, I think more of your product ends up on/in the sponge than on your face.
I use sponges to apply foundation, all of the finishes, except for the powder ones. I have one brush I think sort of work, but I prefer sponges. I think they hide enlarged pores better than other ways off applying the foundation. (Sometime the foundation goes into the pores, with nothing in between, a multi-spot, not very attractive look. )
