Yes, as soon as I saw the name, I wanted it! The fact that I like the colors is a nice bonus ? I’m seeing Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, AFI, and the Misfits…I’m sure the others must be songs, too!

Ana Maria Avatar

Glad to see I’m not the only one thinking instantaneously of Bauhaus… I need my post-punk fix. My college self would use those plums at gothic alternative parties. My roommate was DJ at some of those and I have to many good memories.

I feel so happy that I called it when they released the Rust palette. Between the color story and the music references, I feel like it was made for me. Except I have Gemini, and I’m struggling with it (powdery, patchy mattes, unusable hard-pressed shimmers)… I want it so much, but I know it’s a dumb idea to get it…

CeciChickadee Avatar

Faustine, I feel the exact same way about my Gemini palette. I put in the effort because the colors are super flattering on me, but it’s more work than pleasure. I really love Melt’s color stories, and I want this one, but not if it’s the same formula.

This is a no for me bc I have the stack but I am a bit upset bc had I known they would start to do palettes a few years ago, I would have waited. And as much as I like their shadows, I don’t love them, plus they do have quality control issues from time to time. Meaning there’s no need for me to spend money on the same shades, even if this is the mauve palette of my dreams. Between the stack, the PMG Divine Rose I, and the Marvelous Mauves palette from Dose of Colors, I am more than set in mauve-y shadows.

It’s so pretty and I love the Melt brand, but the Millennial Pinx palette didn’t impress me much. I used it once or twice at the most and haven’t touched it since. The quality just wasn’t there – they weren’t super easy to work with and they got muddy – I was bummed.

I think UD Naked Ultraviolet had a very specific conceptualization, and was never meant to be a “purple palette”. Being part of the “Naked” line, I think the vision was to use the neutral shades as a base, but have the option to incorporate pops of purple, or the sheer shades as “toppers”. That being said, while it did meet that goal overall, I think they should have went a different way with the neutral shades, and gave them more contrast & depth… While the shades will work for light-medium tones, it completely missed the mark for deeper skintones…

Christina Avatar

This is exactly how I view the Naked Ultraviolet palette as well: a neutral palette with a pop of purple. I actually like it, but of course, it’s not groundbreaking. Also, I think it’s weird people are comparing the UD palette to this one. This is definitely a plum/mauve palette (which is what it’s marketed as), not a purple (aka cooler violets) palette, and it’s actually more dark browns leaning plum than anything. The two colours are different, so why are we comparing?

I think it’ll look great on those who like a more dramatic eye and definitely on the deeper complexions, but on my casper skin, I don’t know. Plums look really dramatic against my complexion, but I’m really loving the first three shades, especially Strange Love.

PST ended beginning of March. Spring forward! Now it is PDT.
This palette is so gorgeous, it makes me forget about the new Urban Decay purple one.

Nice. Makes me think of Phyrra/Courtney. Hope there will be some pencil liners to coordinate with the palette. I like that it’s a deeper take. Most mauvey palettes are targeted at lt to med tones. This one should do beautifully for med to darker tones.

xamyx Avatar

The only pencils they have “previewed” on the site are all existing shades… I was really hoping for a gel liner, or at least some lip products, but it seems it’s just the palette…

i love the names and melt always does a good color story. but i’ve been fooled too many times by thir shadows and their lackluster quality. it’s an unfortunate pass for me.

Lauren Avatar

I feel like all the deeper colors are so similar. It looks like they will all look pretty close (if not exactly) the same on the eye itself other than the finish. With how the brand has performed recently I’m glad the color story isn’t appealing to me. I do hope that for those who are interested this is better that the last few palettes they’ve offered!

Francesca Avatar

Melt is challenging mac and colourpop for be the brand which relases palette more frequently. A part from this, quite a fall/winter colour story flr be relased in the beginning of summer! Not bad colours at all, but as usual I think I can dupe it with my stash

xamyx Avatar

It seems they’re transitioning from the stack format into palettes, so it’s not really a “new release”. The stack has been OOS for a while, so this just seems like a restock, just in the new format.

Tigerlaf Avatar

Okay, THIS is a palette I’m truly excited about! If it reviews well I’m definitely gonna get it. I’ll be sad if it’s reviewed poorly. Keeping fingers crossed for it to be good ???
