- Haul/Rediscoveries: Tatcha The Liquid Silk Canvas, Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Hair Oil, Hourglass Veil Setting Spray & Eye Primer, Marc Jacobs Flesh & Fantasy (sigh, at 60% off, I caved on a backup). I recently rediscovered my love for Fenty’s Pro Filtr Foundation — it photographs so well!
- Weekend plans: I’ve been trying to sip my morning coffee while checking emails and social media on the patio, while waiting for Mellan to do his morning business, now that we have furniture out there! I also started doing some jigsaw puzzles this past week, though I swear there’s no comfortable position to puzzle. Hoping to get some more time on the patio relaxing in the early and evening hours (it’s HOT! here).
- What was the last music album you loved?: Beyonce’s Homecoming album!

Haul: Face masks have replaced my blush and lipstick, so I bought several pretty contoured face masks from Etsy. (The word “contour” has taken on a whole new meaning in the pandemic age!) And Macy’s is having a beauty sale, so I placed orders for three products I’m running low on: Clinique Mild Liquid Facial Soap, Lancome Effacernes Concealer, and Origins Ginger Essence Skin Scent. Macy’s delivery is extremely slow right now, so it could be a long time until they arrive.
Weekend plans: Zoom happy hour with friends, reading, watching TV, walking the dog, household chores, placing an order for groceries.
What was the last music album you loved? It’s happening right now with Fiona Apple’s new album Fetch the Bolt Cutters. I’ve loved her since the mid-90s, but this is her best yet. Obsessed with it!
Curious that Macy’s slow on delivery, but they plan to open some of their stores… it will be interesting how shopping in store or just pick-up will work for them. Many people will use this as another excuse to get out of the house.
Thanks for mentioning Fiona Apple! I’m going to check it out!
Haul: my mother in law needed some things and her PSW called and asked if someone could pick these up. I was the only one who offered (I do this often and I adore my MIL) – one of the things was nail polish remover because her PSW does her nails for her to give her a lift. I just love it – 95 years old and loves having her nails done! Anyway, while I was at Shoppers, I was (finally) able to get a back up tube of Embryolisse and I also got a new foot cream from O’Keefe’s (they’ve recently come out with new hand and foot creams, less waxy and in tubes). I think that was all – I was keen to get out of the store and get home to – you guessed it – start cooking yet ANOTHER dinner!
Weekend plans: I got some Asiatic lily bulbs and also some astilbe yesterday and want to plant them. I also want to get to my favourite cafe – still open for take out only – and get one of their fabulous flat whites. It’s a nice walk as well – maybe 1.5 km each way.
Last album I listened to: Probably an oldie by Eva Cassidy. Or maybe The Band’s Last Waltz (another oldie).
Oh, I also have 25 more masks to sew for front line workers. Gotta get them done. I’ve got better at it but also kinda bored! But it’s so important!
Thanks for mentioning the O’Keefe’s tubes!
Haul: A couple of items from Rituel de Fille – Andromeda Eye Soot and their cream luminizer Ice Bow as well as couple new pairs of exercise leggings, which I needed badly since loosing 30lbs.
Rediscoveries: L’Oreal 24h Freshwear Foundation, Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder, Sigma Enchanted Palette and ABH Norvina palette.
Weekend plans: More of the same, lol. There’s a little nature area close to my house; I may take my son there to do some exploring this weekend.
What was the last music album you loved?: Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods album! It took me a while to love it, but I, like, REALLY love it now.
Purchase: a backup SPF (Klairs UV Essence) for when my Farmacy runs out. Also some Korean skincare from Ohlolly (specifically, the Etude House Soon Jung cleanser because I am not forking out for Murad anymore and some face masks because I’m out.)
Weekend plans: catching up with friends online, getting outside when the weather permits. It has been chilly and rainy here but I think the sun might wake up for a couple days.
Last album I loved: Lord Huron’s Vide Noir.
Haul/Rediscoveries: No cosmetic or beauty related purchases. This week I rediscovered… lipstick! 😆 Off course, when I am at home not wearing a mask. Like wearing makeup, it makes me switch in work mode… and I don’t mind as much as I thought using straws at home (to not stain cups and mugs).
Weekend plans: With the rules slightly loosening, I was thinking about starting going hiking in a state park. They have been opened all this time, I just avoided going too far from home. But otherwise it’s phone calls with mom and my brother, house chores, shopping trips (with long lines in the California sun), long walks, finishing my current read.
What was the last music album you loved? I actually haven’t been listening music in a long while… I’m too much into podcasts right now.
Haul: My Sephora package arrived and I am enjoying my Magic Sage Spell perfume very much.
Rediscovery: The Urban Decay Moondust palette. I haven’t reached for it in a long time but last night I was filming a video for the online belly dance show I’m hosting tomorrow, and I wanted to be fancy. So I applied… mm, I think it’s Galaxy? The dark tealish one with multi-color shimmer. I put it over matte black and used some NYX Pigment Primer to hold it in place. It was so pretty! I’m going to wear these colors more often even if my spouse and I are the only ones who get to appreciate it.
Weekend plans: It’s my birthday! So I took today off of work. My plan to sleep in was thwarted by nearby construction, but I still stayed in bed late and had a leisurely breakfast and cup of tea on the couch instead of inhaling my oatmeal at my desk. Later I’m going to take an online dance class that is normally during my work hours. One of my friends is going to stop by after work to drop off my present and we’ll have a little safe-distance chat in my front yard.
Tomorrow is super busy because I have my normal 11am dance class, then I am hosting my birthday show at 2pm, and I have an online happy hour at 7.
Sunday I just have class at noon and if the weather is nice we’ll do yardwork.
We’ll have some takeout/delivery meals over the weekend and probably pick up some ciders from our two favorite local cider brewers, too.
Being in quarantine for my b-day sucks but I’m making the best I can out of the situation and I’m going to have fun 🙂
Most recent album I loved: Claude Chalhoub’s latest “Under My Skin.” I listened to the entire thing on Spotify and then immediately bought it.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday AJ and I agree about quarantine birthdays being average. I hope you enjoy your day nonetheless.
I would love to bring my bed outside on a nice spring day. Mellan has the right idea.
Haul/Rediscoveries: I bought skin care from a local indie Asian beauty shop that I want to survive: Cosrx Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner and Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule, Manyo Factory Galactomy Niacin Essence, and iUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil. No new makeup and there is nothing I want from the current offerings.
Weekend plans: Nice weather is predicted so I will do something outside, if only the farmers market.
What was the last music album you loved? I don’t think in terms of albums anymore. It was probably the recording of Leonard Cohen’s last concert in London.
I can’t blame Mellan. Old bones need some cushioning.
Haul: I had a several older orders come in, so this will look like a lot.

Weekend plans: I’m really, really hoping to finally refresh my hair color and trim my side shave. My hair is looking pretty sad. Otherwise, the same old same old.
What was the last music album you loved?: Billie Eilish “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”
Hey Mellan, my old bones need cushioning, too!
Haul: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, The Ordinary Buffet from Sephora (so far, the day isn’t over yet!), I have an order coming from Macy’s for MAC x Selena La Reina collection, Siempre Selena Retro Matte Lipstick and Hey Dad Pizza! Lipglass.
Weekend plans: Trying to get a new couch! And a new dining set, if all goes well. Other than that, listening in to my meeting via Zoom Saturday morning.
Last music album you loved: Muse Simulation Theory and Evanescence Synthesis Live. Also, The Weeknd After Hours.
Haul: So, I placed 3 orders to Sephora during the sale and they won’t even ship for two weeks so before I forget what I got I will go ahead and share them here. I won’t be able to give any idea how they perform. I picked up, for my daughter, Herbivore Mini True Blue Clarifying Duo, The Ordinary 100% Pure Rose Hip Oil, Lancome Teinte Idole Foundation in 215 Buff N, Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Remover, Amika Scalp Charcoal Cleanser, Sephora Matte Protection Foundation in the shade 30 Sand, Estee Lauder Double Wear 3N1 Ivory Beige and Belif Aqua Balm Moisturizer. For myself, Tatcha Liquid Silk Face Primer, Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue Foundation in shade 1 N0 Porcelain, Innisfree Jeju Cherry Dewy Glow Jelly Cream, Buxom Waterproof Mascara, Estee Lauder Double Wear Radiant Concealer in shade .5 N Ultra Light, Huda Beauty Pastel Obsession in shade Rose Obsession, PMGL Eye Dols in Rose Venus, YSL All Hours Foundation, Laura Mercier Blush Colour Infusion in the shade Strawberry, Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Blush in shade Summertime Wine, Huda Beauty Matte Lipstick in the shade Bachelorette, Huda Beauty Matte and Metal Double Ended Liquid Eyeshadow in the shades Cashmere Robes, Penthouse Suite, French Lace and Diamond Drip.
From Ulta I purchased the Peach and Lilly Glass Skin trial set, Smashbox Lipstick in Not Today, MAC Paintpot in Soft Ochre, MAC lip pencil in Half Red and Dermatologica Hydra Blur Primer.
From MAC I ordered Lip Pencil in Talking Points and Powder Kiss Lipstick in the shade Stay Curious.
Weekend plans: Nothing special. I am continuing to observe stay at home orders even though the state is opening up and since we have a smaller population and few cases we are probably okay to begin opening but since I have other health issues, I am continuing to be very cautious. I have masks and gloves and continue to wear them when I am out or handling groceries, etc. It looks like it is going to be a nice weekend so I might get a little yard work done.
Last music album that I loved: I love music and it plays a huge part in my life so picking one album, song or group would be difficult. I think the album that I loved and loved every single song was Adele’s 21. Not a bad song on the album and I saw her in concert a short time after that so it has special meaning to me.
21 is such a great album?
Haul/Rediscoveries: Hauled UD Afterdark and Hitchhike (to hopefully wear with masks–I normally prefer emollient lipsticks but will need transfer-resistant versions of a berry or a muted coral. Hoping the comfort-matte formula will do). Rediscovered Too Faced Poreless Bronzing Powder and Revlon Super Lustrous Teak Rose.
Weekend Plans: I try to do walk/jogs everyday–we’re so rural around here that it’s not uncommon for us to go to the parks or beach without a soul in sight. I also have four books on rotation. And want to get some cleaning/tidying/laundry done.
What was the last music album you loved? As far as albums go, I mostly listen to musicals–and the last one I listened all the way through was probably Wicked. As for artists, I just shuffle play my favorites.
I’ve been using foundation samples and fell in love with how YSL products smell so that led me to, a) enjoy my MAC Fix+ anew because of the similar cucumber scent and, b) request the foundation samples with my sephora order last week so that I could try the YSL primer (hopefully it smells the same). I’ve become very scent-focused lately whereas I used to be all about unscented everything. Quarantine has changed me!
Just as you are boiling in the heat, we are shivering in the cold here…our coldest May days for a few decades at the moment – straight from Antarctica.
I have found a great way to do jigsaw puzzles – http://www.jigsawexplorer.com is a fabulous website of beautiful jigsaws to do online. Even my husband is hooked!
Haul: just some skincare products I have found online. Immortal Age Defying Cream, serum and daily moisturising cream with SPF 20. I bought some awhile ago and started using the products just in the past few weeks. My skin looks so much better, so whilst it was on sale I decided to order some more.
Rediscoveries: Still going on my palette a day – over a month now and I haven’t gone through all of my stash yet. I did use the Mecca Max Eyephoria palette the other day and it was beautiful.
Weekend Plans. Vacuum – with my son on conference calls all the time during the week and our vacuum cleaner sounds like a jet plane landing, I can’t do it whilst he is working, so it will have to be today or tomorrow.
I have been making some ‘takeaway’ meals for my youngest son and his family. I cook the meals and he comes and gets them. Last week it was a BBQ on one night and a roast dinner the other. It was greatly appreciated as Anika is exhausted after all the home schooling.
Otherwise it will be the same kind of weekend as usual – some cleaning, some jigsaws, some walking etc.
I hope everyone here is safe and well.
Last music album you loved: Pentatonix – absolutely fabulous.
OOPS, forgot the other two prompts:
Weekend plans: send letters to friends, a trail walk along the Mississippi, look for a new apartment (I have a nightmare party animal roommate situation that has calmed during quarantine but will worsen soon, I’m sure).
Last album: Fiona Apple’s newest, “Fetch Tge Bolt Cutters” is so so so so good.
Happy weekend, everyone!
Way to go Mellan! Comfort all the way!
Haul/Rediscoveries: I’ve placed 3 Rouge orders one was supposed to be delivered today but I haven’t seen any sign of it yet, it has my Tom Ford Mascara in it. Otherwise the others have; Sephora Firming Sleeping Cream, Dr. Jart Micro Tip Patches, Tom Ford Extreme Lip Spark Lipstick in Dazed, and CT Superstar Lipstick in Pillow Talk.
Weekend plans: My husband put the insurance on my car so we can take it out with the roof down now that the weather is nice enough. They just opened the provincial parks here so we will probably take a drive and go for a hike. My husband’s business has picked up a bit, I can only hope other people will be able to bring their businesses back to a profit soon.
What was the last music album you loved?: Steve Perry’s Traces, I was a huge fan of Journey and I love his voice.
Sweet Mellan ❤
Rediscovery: Queleques Fleurs fragrance. Ordered a new bottle from Nordstrom. I figured I’d give this another try. It’s been a few years and I used to love this so. I don’t know if there’s a difference between spray vs. bottle but am trying the bottle this time. Fingers crossed.

Lipsticks in Under The Covers and My Little Secret (Love Me formula), Mull it Over (Powder Kiss formula).
Still waiting on a few more orders from ColourPop, Sephora, Pat McGrath, Zoya and Cirque Colors
Weekend plans: On Saturday, going to my parents and cooking/helping out. Other than that, walks and reading and and finding a show to catch up on. I’ll spend some time organizing my new pretties also. Zoom brunch and then mani and facial on Sunday. Still not bored or feeling cagey by stay at home orders – I am really loving the solitude and self-efficacy.
First album I loved: Probably Erasure’s Oh L ‘Amour album, and then there was the Aerosmith “Big Ones” but that was just a compilation. I never bought too many albums because I found I only ever liked that one song I bought it for, typically.
Mellan is such a good boy. I tried to attach a picture of my Buddy but, 1. He won’t pose for a good picture and, 2. I can’t figure out Instagram. I will have to study.
Hauls this week, all from Sephora for 20% off; lGucci lipstick in a berry color, LM tinted moisture and primer, a replacement Clinique mascara in black- the tubing one, Caudalie serum and moisturizer, a fan brush of medium thickness, a replacement BeautyBlender set. I think that’s all.
I forgot! Weekend plans, same as weekdays. Netflix and wine. I have two many risk factors to go out even with a very good mask and Ohio is still closed socially. I was on the patio in the shade for 30 minutes and get a sunburn!
To Mariella: thank you for making masks. I am a retired RN and appreciate you.
Album: showing my age Best of Simon and Garfunkle!
Haul/Rediscoveries: No new purchases. Just waiting for my Sephora orders to be delivered.
Weekend plans: The usual weekend TV marathons, including the CSI: Miami double feature tonight-it must’ve just been delayed last week by something else running late-and possibly some errands if needed.
What was the last music album you loved?: Too many to count!
Hauls/Rediscoveries: I did me a huge replacement-buy hair haul at the Sephora spring sale. Living proof dry shampoo (2 of the value size cans), Living Proof Triple Detox clarifying shampoo, Living Proof Silicone Detox mini kit (for future travels) Kerastase Résistance Serum for severely damaged hair, IGK Mistress Hydrating hair balm, Olaplex 3 value size bottle. I don’t get super-excited over hair product hauls; hair is now a source of frustration after my previous stylist completely messed up the color (Splotches of bleach all over, anyone?) and the repair caused even more damage 🙁 Also scored some Korres yogurt cleanser (my fave) and Kiehls Glow Formula Skin Hydrator (the glow makes me look 10 years younger, it’s that good!) My only non-replacement ‘splurge’ was a Maison Margiela Replica mini duo coffret – Beach Walk and Jazz Club in cute 7ml bottles. Jazz Club was a known entity that I love, I had high hopes for Beach Walk unfortunately I don’t love it. Oh well.
Weekend plans: recovering from a breast reduction I had Wednesday. Went from a H to a C cup plus upper arm lipo. I didn’t think the pain would be this bad 🙁 maybe I’m just a wuss. pain seems to have finally started improving this morning. Right now I’m lying in bed with boobie ice packs, cruising Temptalia’s latest posts 🙂
That sounds really sore Missy and I guess the pain would be from cutting through your muscles for the reduction. I don’t think you are a wuss at all and your neck and back will feel much better for the change in your breast size. I hope your pain levels reduce in the next week or so. Take care.
Haul: My Sephora order finally arrived – ND mini retro and glam eyeshadow palettes, ND mini bloom blush (gorgeous), Charlotte Tilbury Mesmerising Maroon eyeshadow quad; selected Briogeo Scalp Revival and Don’t Despair, Repair from Sephora’s birthday gift options.
Rediscovery: Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Medium – loving this red-toned bronzer.
Weekend Plans: Unexpectedly going to the laundromat to refresh our bedding after our cat was sick last night. Will be dusting off our bicycles and BBQ, and enjoying the outdoors as the weather this weekend should be lovely.
Last album I loved: U2 Songs of Experience
Haul:
Natasha Denona Safari (Poshmark)
Natasha Denona Tropic, Fenty Fussy Gloss (for my daughter), Givenchy Beige Nu Velvet Matte lipstick and Norvina Mini Cherry (Sephora VIB Sale). Really love the Safari palette so far ???. Tropic is great too but I’ve been using the Safari more!
Rediscovered: Too Faced Peach Perfect Blur Powder. Part of a 500 pt. Sephora Perk and the Drunk Elephant D Bronzi Drops (another point perk sample). I’m really just trying to use them up. I like the Too Faced powder. Could without the peach flavor you get a taste of when you powder your face but it’s nice. I don’t think I’d purchase a larger size once this is done but I like it. The D Bronzi drop give a nice warmth to the skin and I would buy a full size!
Weekend plans: Same ol same ol. I’m glad it’s finally warming up where I’m at and not raining. Makes quarantine much easier to bear!
Last music album I loved: the last music I’ve listened to heavily is from Pearl Jam, Bowie, Queen and Elton John!!
