24 Eye Makeup Ideas that Make Me Happy (ft. Sydney Grace)
I needed a bit of a pick-me-up, and I actually really enjoy putting color combinations together, especially when I can choose from a larger variety of shades (not just the shades in a particular palette). I opted to use Sydney Grace Eyeshadows because they’re consistently higher performing (one of the better-rated single eyeshadow ranges I’ve come across), but it’s also an incredibly diverse range of finishes and tones. It’s genuinely hard to find cooler-toned single eyeshadows these days, and a lot of mainstream brands have whittled down their single ranges over the last few years!
So, here are some color combinations that I always love wearing, and you know me… I’m big on variety. I love it all! Hopefully, there’s a combo or two that inspires you to try using whatever you may have on hand!
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

After falling into a bit of a rut, I’m actually very grateful for this inspiration! I really need to get back to the creative aspect of makeup the way I was even a few months ago, but I’ve just been so caught up in this move that I haven’t had the time or energy. Once I moved across town I’m going to have to look up this post again to look for the ones that I saved. Some very cool looks that you put together!
Hope moving goes seamlessly, Nancy!!
Oh, I do, too! Currently it’s the packing that’s driving me bananas. Never knew I had so much stuff, especially so much makeup and clothing.
Good luck with your move Nancy. Hope you enjoy your new location.
Thank you, ShariP! I’m hopeful going in that this move was for the best.
We moved last April after 40 yrs, 2 children, numerous dogs and cats. The purging is the worst followed by packing. After all that, it’s creatively unpacking and designing your new space. I hope you love it and have space for a creative make-up area.
ah, well no surprise you’ve put me in the mood to wear SG for my girl’s night out lol. All the series are so pretty! Glad playing with them could be a fun distraction for you.
If I could request *anything* else from SG it would be a light matte baby pink, like Mac Yoghurt or the baby pink from the White Peach Too Faced palette. SG pinks run a little darker and warmer on me (tho I love em still and wear them all the time.) But they already make so many perfect colors already.
I’d love to see more matte-satin purple/burgundy/teals myself!
oo — hear, hear on that.
That sounds like a great request! I love a good satin-matte finish.
These are all so lovely! I really wish I had your eye for color combinations, I would’ve never even though to put Herky Bird and Indiana Love together, but I can definitely see the possible gradients that you could create here 🙂
I really like these as it gives a nice burst of inspiration that you can use if you own these shadows, or have similar shades in other palettes. I’ve been moving to mostly matte eyeshadows looks recently, but these looks are renewing my love of shimmer eyeshadows.
If you don’t mind me asking, how many Sydney Grace eyeshadows do you have now? I’m sure it’s a very impressive collection at this point.
I think I have all of them, lol!
Thank you!
These eye inspirations are fabulous Christine – I saved many of them. They are so versatile too, for weekdays and weekends. Love them.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Christine, thank you for the ideas. I always enjoy them. Color theory isn’t my strong suit, so I tend to play it safe and boring. This moves me out of my comfort zone.
Happy to help!! 🙂
I’m so happy for this post! It was the push I needed to take out my makeup and have some fun! Plus I have a lot of Sydney Grace shadows I haven’t tried yet so this is great!
Such great color combos. I don’t have any Sydney Grace but I think that may change!
Oooo I’m really inspired by some of your combos like smokescreen or Herky Bird/Indiana Love combo. I’m glad to hear you enjoy these posts b/c they make me excited about my makeup stash too!
Thank you!!
You’re a whole entire artist Tempty!!!! I love the color stories you gravitate towards. Love your eye
Thank you, Sienna!
Thanks! Definitely on here today catching up for this reason. WINTER’S GOODBYE is so lovely, I may order just those (if I can’t very closely type them).
