Silver Eyeshadow
I love silver for a pop of brightness on the inner tearduct or the center of the lid, but it’s not the first color I think of when I sit down to do my makeup!

I love grey toned (matte) eyeshadows so much that one would thing silver is the next best thing. But it’s not… silver usually means glitters, chunky bits of shimmers, fall-out, which are not my vibe. And most silvers are more metallic (again, a finish not my vibe) than actual silver.
It’s mainly probably the user fault in here (aka me 😆 ), but silvers for me are hard to work with and I’m not willing to give the extra mile. I did liked the Urban Decay Armour and Slanted (from Naked Smoky Palette) and I sometimes play with MAC Knights Divine from my custom made palette, but they’re not colors I incorporate in my looks that often.
But this question reminded me of silver… and who knows? Maybe I’ll play a little bit more this week with Knights Divine.
Silver shadows look really nice for a sparkly evening look, but I like some better than others. I love shiny, smooth, metallic silver eyeshadow like Colourpop’s Star Struck (Smoke Show palette), but I don’t like when silver shadows have little glitter particles, like Viseart’s Tingle (Liaison palette).
I love silver when it’s not a super cool-toned silver. I love ABH Cyborg from the Sultry palette because it has a very slight pink undertone; Koosh Colourpop SSS shadow is also a good, slightly warm toned silver. I also love silvery sparkly shades that are more of a topper. The first one I fell in love with was Revolt from the Urban Decay Electric palette.
I don’t dislike silver eyeshadow as a rule, I just don’t like cool-toned silvers on me.
Funny you mention CP Koosh, because that one and Nars Callisto are my favorite 2 silvery eyeshadows! They’ve got to have at least a little warmth to them for them to be truly wearable for me. True silver isn’t.
I do like silvers a lot. That UD electric silver is great!
I’m tend to avoid silver and in general Grey from my wardrobe since I am warm timed and I feel washed away by Grey. However recently I started to try some Grey shades. I prefer shimmer finish, best of duocromes with Blue or purple shimmer on a Grey base. But I fell have to add definition to my crease and a line my eye, while this It Is not strictly necessary with Warner shades like coppers or golds
I love silver jewelry, but oddly enough I’m not very into silver eyeshadow. I don’t think it’s the most flattering color on my eyes. Not bad, but it doesn’t do anything for them, either. However, if I’m doing a black/gray smokey eye, I find incorporating silver into it makes it much more flattering on my deep-set eyes. I also like silver as an accent on the inner corner, brow bone, lower lash line, or center of the lid.
I find silvers with a hint of purple/lavender, pink, blue, or taupe are much more flattering on me than pure silver. I love those kind of shades.
Same here, Rachel. I rock lots of silver jewelry, but don’t care for straight up silver eyeshadow on myself. Has to have a little taupe (CP Koosh), pinky-lilac (Nars Callisto) or even green to it for it to not make my eye color look really funky! I’m guessing it’s our irises not being one uniform color.
That’s what I’m guessing. My eyes have a lot of blue-gray in them, so I think it doesn’t play well with gray and silver.
I loved it on BROWN eyed peeps best! Even with very blue eyes, it looks quite pretty.
Not so much with my particular eye color, though. Except as a mid-lid halo. That I can pull off if I’m wearing a very dark blue or black smokey eye look!
I only use a silver in the inner corner, so for the amount that I get in standard sized shadows it much too much. I’ll never hit pan. Silver can sometimes be too much for my skin tone, but when done right, it’s a gorgeous color on darker skin. But my favorites are Sterling by Pat McGrath, Star Light by Jouer, and Cyborg by ABH. Before I received the palette in Beautylish’s holiday box, I had to stop myself from buying the Sultry palette for just that shadow. This just reminds me that I need to use all of those palettes more.
I usually can’t wear silver because it can bring out the blue undertones in my skin. However, the silver in the MUFE cream shadow is unique. No fallout (because it’s a cream). In some lights it looks green. Very happy using it on my entire lid.
I used to love silver eyeshadow and one day about a year ago I wore a silver on my eyes and I hated it. I immediately went through my collection and got rid of every silver I had. Don’t miss it at all. No idea what made me suddenly dislike it but that’s what happened. Lol
ABH Cyborg and the silver in Colourpop Smoke Show (can’t remember the name) are my two favourite silver eyeshadows. I love how silver compliments every eye colour, in my opinion, and can amp up most eye looks ?
I quite like silver eyeshadow as it works well with my eye shade – blue/grey. However the rest of me is warm toned (red hair, porcelain complexion). I tend to wear silvery blue shades when I am using a blue or grey eyeshadow to complement any navy clothes I am wearing. I prefer a soft shimmer or satin finish to my silvers.
I love a silver and gray eye shadow look. Silver shadow makes my brown eyes pop! My favorite silver eye shadow is the one in Coloured Rain’s Cheers to Beauty palette.
I love silver and dusky light greys. I prefer shimmers that are not too chunky and do not raise lid texture. Someone mentioned the silver in the Liason palette as a no go. I love that shade ?. Abh sultry palette has a beautiful silver, but that one I find trickier to nail the application.. I also love ABH pencil liners they did a couple of years back in a dirty gold and a muted silver. For night glam, I use that as an inner third lining in a cat eye shape with outer in black.
Silver shadow just reads too cool for my eye color , it’s just not flattering for me , I love it on others though !
One of my go-to staples! I do a lot of retro inspired neutral soft-smoky eyes with silver on the lid. Such a look with a red lip. I also really like silver+plum or berry!
I love silver eyeshadows.
I sometime do a one and done with just a silver. Most of the time though I use it as am accent, inner corner, a faded out halo or under the eye.
I must add though that some days I try silver and hate it, don’t know why as other days I love it.
This post made me wear silver today. LOL J/k…but I am wearing silver on the lid from the Conspiracy palette. It’s a really nice silver.
I absolutely love silver eyeshadow, either all over, or as a topper on the middle of my lid. I love silver on top of purple or blue.
It’s a metalized gray, so bring it on. But let it not be too metal (iirc, koosh looks downright garish.) or to lacking in base tone/glittery (Liaison.). Leaning pewter/ warmer is great, but so are the stark cool ones and the deep/dark ones. I’m goldbricking at work, otherwise I’d go look for examples. Off the top of my head, some great Viseart, fine UD old Vice palette shades, and of course CP and SG.
My eyes are mostly green with some hazel bits and black spots, so kinda warm toned? But my skin is very fair and cool toned and hair is blue-black. When I wear sparkly eyeshadow it’s pretty often silver. Pure silvers work well for me as well as those that lean a bit taupe or champagne. I have a couple that lean blue or green too. I only wear silver jewelry and wear black probably 75% of the time with grey, red, or a few specific shades of blue or purple otherwise. Silver works well for me 🙂
I’m glad you asked! I like silver and like you, I don’t often think of it. This year, my Christmas tree color is silver (no not very innovative I know, but not at all a color I’ve used much in the past, go figure!). And I’ve been waiting for a real “Frozen” or “Frozen II” type winter palette were silver would be the star (like all nuances of it (with some blues and greens). Something like Jouer’s Skinny Dip palette (but all rivers) plus some of Jeffrey Star’s Blue Blood (but muted).
And so, I think for the holidays, I’ll do up the silver for a change (even on the eyes)!
