Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and cream blush. I feel like cream products in general have made a HUGE difference in how my skin looks. I love looking dewy and fresh.
Also love cream products + looking for a few new cream blushes. Any ones you’d particularly recommend?

Makeup-wise, it’s probably Elizabeth Arden’s lip primer. Thanks to this product, not only does my lipstick generally look better and last longer, but it means I can actually wear more matte lipsticks like UD’s “(Dis)Comfort Matte” formula (I bought Love Drunk because the colour is so beautiful and fell for the snake oil sales pitch of “Comfort Matte”) without feeling and looking like my lips have been through a dehydrator!
drat – I meant to add that in terms of skin care, Youth to the People Maqui Oil has had a real impact. I just adore this oil – how it makes my skin look and feel and the fact that it works for daytime under foundation. I’m trying to finish up all my other facial oils because they all pale in comparison to this stuff.
The CT Hollywood Flawless doesnāt work for me. It interferes with my base on my redness prone areas.. breaks down even with primer. I just tossed this out a couple of weeks ago because I havenāt touched it ?
Latest product to have big impact would be ABH eye primer. Iāve stopped using concealer as a primer and MAC paint pot as a primer because this beats them all. Caveat: I still use concealer on my lower lash line and outer corner because I find the ABH too sticky and it creates a harshness with my shadows in that area, but works beautifully on my lid and hoodies.
The ABH eye primer is amazing!
It didn’t made a huge impact in my routine, since I already used a heavy duty silicone eye primer (previously my favorites were Too Faced Shadow Insurance, SmashBox 24-Hour, The Balm Put a Lid On It, Urban Decay Primer Potion – the Anti-Aging one, the others are not as good).
I stil like those, but the ABH one is just somehow… a little better in a way that simply will make me re-purchase it no matter the price. Bonus, I can buy the mini, which is a lot already. I actually don’t even mind that at first it oozes like crazy (but still hope they will improve packaging).
I went for the mini, then bought a full-sized thinking I would be through the mini in a flash… and Iām still working on the mini. A little goes a long way! Good value .
Hollywood Flawless Filter as well! I finally bought a bottle during the VIB sale instead of hoarding samples like a raccoon and holy moly, I look human again! I’ve been dealing with some pretty severe mental health problems lately but every time I wear this, someone tells me I look like I’m feeling better! I wear it just kinda smeared over the high points of my face, no foundation. Amazing bottle of goop, that.
Lancome Cils Booster Lash Primer ?! I have wimpy, pathetically sparse eyelashes. This applied after curling them, gives them LIFE. It makes them appear fuller and thicker with some extra length thrown in. What an amazing difference it makes!
The Kevyn Aucoin rounded foundation brush. I have a skin condition that leaves me with a lot of inflammation and texture. This brush has entirely changed my foundation game. It’s quicker to do my base now & the application is seamless. I use it for liquid, cream and powder! The only downside is that it takes forever to dry after washing because it’s so dense.
I have this brush, and haven’t used it in ages. Shame on me. You’ve reminded me to begin using it again! It cost too much not to at least use it in rotation. And yes, it is really, really, really dense!!!
I am going to answer this based on what improved my routine and what it did for my appearance as a result and luckily they are both the same. I think the biggest impact has been the use of better quality and specific brush types. I remember when I invested in my first set of higher quality makeup brushes and my thought was that I was wasting my money and that the cheapo brushes I had been using were just as good. I also couldn’t really comprehend how a good brush could be any better than a drug store $2.00 brush. Boy was I wrong. In retrospect I would have not purchased so much makeup and invest in good brushes earlier. I started with Wayne Goss brushes and then went on to purchase Hakuhodo and Sonia G brushes and the effort needed to buff makeup was cut in half. I was also able to buy more specific brushes that are not necessarily available in cheaper drugstore brushes and by that I mean, brushes that have a smaller head that is better suited to applying e/s to my very hooded lids. As in so many other areas of life, having the best tools does make a difference.
I did a similar shift.. went for Wayne Goss brushes and then added Sonia G. Today by mistake I picked up a MAC brush to do my transition shade and I couldnāt understand why my e/s was looking so patchy.. I looked down at my brush. Switched to one of my favourite Goss brushes et voila! Pas de problem.

It’s odd, but it’s actually the Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid booster. I used to only use toner + eye cream + SPF in the morning (before make-up), no treatments or other products; I just like to keep it simple and quick (I always felt that applying too much skincare in the morning disturbs make-up). But I received free with an order and I already use BHA at night, so I decided to try it out in the morning. Although it’s quite thick, it absorb very well and I can barely tell it’s there; I don’t know why and how, but it makes my skin smoother.
Otherwise, the huge impacts in my routine happened eons ago, like discovering brow products in my early 20s. š

Itās a tie between the Bare Minerals barepro concealer and the physicians formula talc free mineral wear pressed powder. I love how well that concealer just rubs in with a quick finger swipe and all of The sudden my husband is saying that I look so awake! Also that PF powder – I donāt need foundation with that and it covers almost anything and completely blurs my face so quick. And if I apply foundation and it looks a mess the powder will fix it. Such a hidden gem that Iāve been using 20+ years.
For beauty products – the last one that made an impact on my beauty routine was the L’Oreal True Match foundation in porcelain rose. Previously I couldn’t wear any of the brand’s foundations because their undertones were either yellow or neutral. But this porcelain one has the pink undertone and it lasts all day. Easy to apply, wear and it lasts all day. The added bonus is that it is often on sale too.
For skincare, it is has definitely been the addition of argon oil – specificially Physician’s Formula. It has ensured that my skin remains hydrated and looking good.
I couldnāt agree more about the Charlotte Tilbury HFF! It has been a game changer for me for the same reasons!

So few products actually live up to the hype, but this one surpasses.
Having a yet to be diagnosed immune problem that definitely affects my face, it has to be the Purito and Cosrx Centella products. Damp down the redness (looks kind of like Fifth Disease, a parvo) sufficiently that the rheum/derm dismissed me saying āYour face looks fine.ā I could have slapped him. He would not look at the selfie of my face after 20 minutes of sun exposure at 4P with 60 spf. Dripping like a 100 year old faucet and red as a beet. Most people say they would not recognize me in the pic, but, no problem, Iām fine….. The products are so good, that they mask a significant problem. Nothing in the m/u department.
Christine, when you mix Hollywood Flawless Filter with your foundation, how exactly do you do, i.e. how much HFF to foundation? Iāve been keen to try this since Iāve seen your reviews/posts about it, but Iām not sure where to start. Thank you so much!
Glossier Cloud Paints and liquid/cream blushes, highlighters, and bronzers. I feel like they really mesh with my skin and look so much better than powders.
I use maybe one “wand” worth with a dab/dot of it on my fore head, cheek bones, and chin, and I do the same with my foundation, then blend it altogether. No real exact ratio!

I’d have to say it’s the Viseart Brow palette. I have sparse brows, and had been using the Tom Ford brow liner, which is an excellent product, and lasts. But it did not help me up my game on framing my face while looking natural, which the palette does. I realize that it might not work on all skin tones, but on me, fair, neutral with sort of taupe-y brows and hair, it is amazingly versatile. Apart from the deepest black, there is probably not a color — wax or powder– that I cannot use, depending on the look. And it really helps me extend and thicken my brow look in a way that does not look “drawn in.” All the shades are subtle.
So so many. The Amore Pacific enzyme peel cleanser makes such an amazing difference in my skin clarity; the Marc Jacobs coconut eye primer actually works to make my eyeshadows work all day! The Dior and Tom Ford eyeshadows actually blend themselves and create such easy color stories for someone who has no patience to blend or put together an eye outfit.
A lavender toned concealer or primer adds some badly needed luminosity. I’m of a ‘certain age,’ and can use a glow!
