Aw, Mellan. My dog whines if I don’t prepare his food fast enough!

Haul: MAC Tres Blasé lipstick. It’s not a shade I really needed to buy, but a few days ago I desperately needed some lunchtime makeup shopping therapy after a particularly stressful morning at work. I just noticed there’s a new Colourpop monochrome palette (Smoke Show), so I’m currently trying to talk myself out of getting it.

Weekend Plans: Visiting family. Chores. Relaxing.

What are you most looking forward to in October? Temperatures starting to cool a bit. Fall clothes, boots, and shoes.

Sandy Avatar

Your pup is adorable! And sounds like you have a busy weekend planned!

Haul/Rediscoveries: I bought Colourpop’s Smoke Show and super shocks. I just love stars and have been really wanting a cool-toned smoky palette! I bought the Dior backstage one that just came out but will be returning. It’s so blah on the eye. And for rediscovery, I’ve been using the Jouer foil palette from last year for some pretty sparkly looks!

I’m most looking forward to some cooler weather. Our first cooler night is tonight and I’m so excited! It’s so hot in Houston. :o) And I am excited to wear boots (not cowboy boots despite being in Texas)! Wishing you a quieter October!

Celesta Avatar

Haul: I didn’t buy anything this week!

Rediscoveries: I pulled out my ND Face Glow foundation for the first time in a while today… I never like it when I first apply it, but as the day goes on it looks better and better.

Weekend plans: My family and I are going to Kings Island! My husband has a lot of fond childhood memories there and they have one of the best children’s areas in the world, so I’m excited to see how my 2 year old son reacts to meeting characters and riding some rides; it will be a great test run for our Disney trip in January/February.

What are you most looking forward to in October?: Cooler weather so I can wear cozy sweaters and the leaves changing colors. October is my favorite month; all of the best things in my life happened in October: I met my husband in October, we got married in October (our anniversary is this weekend), and I found out I was pregnant with my son in October. Add those things to the beautiful, crisp weather and leaves turning fiery… it’s just the best time of the year for me.

Genevieve Avatar

Happy Anniversary Celesta. When I took my grandson to the Royal Show last year, he was about 2 1/2 years old and absolutely loved it – especially the rides and seeing familar characters. I wasn’t sure he would be ready for the rides, but nope -he really surprised me.
I think you and your family are going to have a wonderful time at Kings Island (I had to look it up and it seems a magnificient place for families).

Your pup looks so chill and cute all the time !!
Hauls/ rediscoveries- nars studio 54 palette, a couple Jefree Star brushes , Colour Pop super shock blush
Weekend plans- lots of pt for my shoulder still ( ugh sucks ) I bleached my hair 2 days ago so it’s about 5 different shades of weirdness. I just haven’t decided what color. I was going with bright ombré red but I got it so light I’m debating a pink color.
Most looking forward to in October- I’d love some cooler weather ( as both my ac and fan are on!!) hopefully it’s not just wishful thinking, also I love love love all Nightmare before Christmas stuff, especially movie showing on tv all the time. I bought new Vans Nightmare before Christmas shoes and I’d wear them in my sleep if I could ??

I heart Mellan! I volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter and of course I want all of the cats and dogs (and rabbits and guinea pigs) to have forever homes, but the seniors just break my heart. I’m so glad Mellan has you and your husband!

Haul: Lunar Beauty Moonspell palette; Marc Jacobs Elec-trik (although, once again, Sephora’s crappy packaging meant it came shattered so now I’m awaiting a replacement); the new Forever Flawless palettes from Revolution Beauty (one of which also came broken and I’m still waiting to hear from their Customer Service); and ColourPop Masquerade should arrive today. I placed several orders this week but that’s will be next week’s haul.

Weekend plans: The usual errands, extra workout time at gym, dog training at shelter, naps with my kitties.

Looking forward to in October: Fall, Yankees playoffs, Giants football, return of Rangers hockey

TropicalCowgirl Avatar

Sweet Mellan.

Haul: I ordered an Ole Hendriksen Let’s Get Luminous Brightening Essentials Kit and just waiting for it.

Weekend Plans: chilling with my hubby, stepdaughter and a friend’s former stepson. He is an adult now and will be visiting for the first time in two years. He loves watching football with the hubby and looks up to him. We will be smoking a prime rib and eating good food. My neighbor is coming to hang. I am also going to try to find a place for Sedona’s ashes as I tear up every time I see the box. It’s too soon. Her brother still is only eating half of his food (he is saving for her as she was famished when on prednisone and used to do this periodically), so I plan an a nice long walk and lots of extra attention. I took today and Monday off for a long weekend.

October: I’m not really a big fan of cold weather and in Texas, the temps swing by 40-50 degrees in a day sometimes. It’s busy for me as it’s closet cleaning time to prep winter shoes and go through sweaters, jackets and go through socks.

AJ Avatar

Haul: Just some konjac face sponges for my spouse.

Weekend plans: It is my spouse’s birthday, the big 4-0 in fact! They are not a big birthday celebrator so we’re just going out for a fun day tomorrow. We’re going to finally do the Theo Chocolate factory tour, wander around town for a bit, and have dinner at the more casual (but still amazing sounding) new offshoot of a popular local restaurant that we both read about and wanted to try. Sunday I’ll go to a dance jam with some friends. Otherwise the usual weekend mix of chores and errands.

What am I looking forward to in October: Besides HALLOWEEN (I’m going to be a stock photo hacker/scammer, I ordered my black balaclava and fake bitcoins last night), I am looking forward to just being home and getting into a nice routine and having time to do the things I like around the city and at home. Since April it’s been go-go-go, between my sis-in-law’s wedding, suddenly deciding to move from our apartment to a house, FOUR different sets of people visiting us between July 1-Oct 3, a couple trips out of town for dance events… I’m exhausted and out of sorts.

Genevieve Avatar

OMG AJ, I feel exhausted reading about everything you have done for the past few months, let alone experience. Hosting people is very tiring….Having a mundane weekend, pottering about, just seeing the things you want to is actually quite restful.
Happy birthday to your husband too. He must be pretty tired as well.
Enjoy your weekend and don’t do too much housework…..

AJ Avatar

Thank you Genevieve! Luckily out of all the people who visited us, only one actually stayed with us so we didn’t have to full-on host everyone, but we still had to have the house ready for people to hang out in, and have lots of fun things to do with people, and just be “on” all the time when people were here.

We’ve had a lovely weekend so far! The chocolate tour and dinner were both delicious and in between we did some shopping, wandering, and had cider and ice cream, then we were home by about 7 and relaxed for the rest of the night.

AJ Avatar

Thank you Rachel!

The blessing and curse of living in such a vibrant area is that there’s always so much going on and so many people want to come enjoy it with us, LOL! I’ve already decided to be more protective of my time in 2020.

Haul:
Sephora (Friends & Family sale/early birthday gift card haul) — UD Naked Honey Palette, Natasha Denona Gold Mini Eyeshadow Palette, Bite Lipstick in Thistle, Sephora #Lipstories Lipstick in Backstage, and Urban Decay birthday gift (Deluxe All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray and Deluxe Starlight Moondust Eyeshadow).

Apocalyptic Beauty — LOTM Club Subscription Glamour Ghoul theme: Eyeshadows in Vampira Cocktail, Screamland, and Epitaphs & Autographs; Out of the Mist Contour; and Hemorrhage Red Lip Gloss.

Weekend plans: The usual cleaning and errands.

What are you most looking forward to in October?: My birthday on the 17th, and Halloween.

Nancy T Avatar

Love his half-on half-off his bed pose and facial expression on mild consternation! ?

Haul: Sooo….I went a little bit crazy and OTT last Saturday with Sephora’s F&F coupon code. Went home with Hourglass Ghost Cheek quad, Natasha Denona Mini Gold palette, Pat McGrath Nocturnal Nirvana eyeshadow quad and Christy MatteTrance Lipstick in the special packaging, plus a fresh Lancome Cils Booster. Also exchanged Fenty Hydrating Foundation in 270 for 260, because 270 was giving me some very colorful settling in my expression lines! 260 doesn’t. In fact, 260 matches so perfectly that I can only tell I’m wearing anything by how perfected my complexion looks. Also ordered Bite Road Trip Lipstick in New York City and a lip pencil in #30 that hope will help with Hot Harissa Lipstick getting crisper, neater edges. My ColourPop order from last FFHF arrives today, along with the 2 Bite items.

Weekend plans: I am at the point where I MUST do my ratchet looking roots! They are that bad. Meeting on Sunday along with a Bon Voyage party for 2 of our friends who are moving away to Puerto Rico next week. ?

What are you most looking forward to in October? COOLER WEATHER!! I’m dying to wear fall clothing, drink hot cocoa or chai tea, needing a jacket at night, etc. And apartment hunting….in Glendale. Scary little move in order to live nearer to my kids without a super long bus commute.

Genevieve Avatar

I think all the items you purchased Nancy will be put to good use….they are lovely and are of great quality. You’re allowed to go a bit OTT every now and again….
It’s good that you found your perfect foundation shade in the Fenty range too.
The Hot Harissa lippie is a favourite shade of mine, but personally I find the Bite lipsticks to be a bit drying on me.
I know exactly what you mean about cooler weather, by the end of March, I am hanging out for it. At least our current Spring weather has been OK, some years we have leapt from winter to hot summer in one week.
I think it would be great for you to live closer to your children without the long commute. Hopefully you will find an apartment that is in a lovely area and is better than what you already have. Fingers crossed.

Haul: Nothing this week. I have a lot of products in my cart at both Sephora and Ulta but I feel like I will whittle that list down quite a bit before actually purchasing. No knew beauty discoveries

Weekend plans: I am working on getting some things out of storage. I am taking advantage of the fact that my ex-husband is here and he has a truck. I have had stuff in storage for multiple years now and it has been a source of stress for me so I am looking forward to dealing with it. The fact that the stuff was put into storage because my ex-husband put it there is rather funny!

Looking forward to in October: I would say fall weather but it seems like we are skipping fall this year and just going straight into winter. I still hope for a warm spell until real winter lands. My mother’s birthday is this month so will likely do something for her and then I am already into Christmas shopping as I like being done early so that I can just focus on decorating and cooking, as the actual holiday arrives.

Update: For those looking for an update on my Murad Dark Spot Correction Serum. I have been using it religiously for about 3 weeks now and have seen no response to my hyperpigmentation. Unlike the Peace Out Dark Spot Dots which I noticed improvement after about 10 days of use. I will finish out this bottle of the Murad and if still no real improvement then I will not repurchase and will focus on the second product that I purchased. The Murad product is really expensive so I am not going to waste it and who knows, it may start to work.

Genevieve Avatar

It’s good that your ex is there to move all of your surplus possessions is very handy. Can you donate some of it?
I always like to start my Christmas shopping now too. I have laybys for my grandchildren – clothes, toys, swimming gear etc, so they won’t find them at our place.
I get my daughter in law and beauty bag every year and stock it with the things she needs – mascara, sunscreen, foundation (she tells me the brand and shade), day and night time moisturisers, cleansers etc..
It’s actually the males in our family that are the hardest to buy for.
Best of luck for your cleaning out weekend..so stressful.

Rachel R. Avatar

That’s great your ex can help you tackle the storage. Get some use out of him while he’s there. j/k

I like to get my Christmas shopping done early, too. It makes things go so much more smoothly, doesn’t it? I just ordered us a new tree. We can’t have real ones because of my allergies, which sucks extra because we live near Christmas tree farms central, and I get to see all the beautiful, real trees. I’m not even allergic to the evergreens — It’s all the other plants’ pollens that gets stuck to them.

I had my 3-month checkup on my diabetes Tuesday. My blood sugar is down from 7.8% to 6.2% (my doctor wanted me below 7%), and I’ve lost 20 lbs. so far. That’s what I gained as the “sudden, unexplained weight gain” symptom, so I’m glad to have that off. Medications and diet are staying as they are, and I don’t need to go in again for 6 months.

Deborah S. Avatar

I am glad to hear that your diabetes is responding to the treatment and weight loss. I had my checkup the middle of August and we increased my Victoza dosage so now I am taking the maximum dose for that medication along with my Levemir Insulin. My HBA1C went from 10 down to 8.1 so I will go back in November for another update. I have lost 9 pounds although I feel like since my ex arrived I may have put some of that back on. Even though we get along great and both agree that our daughter is reason enough for us to make an effort, it always does remind me why I divorced him in the first place!! I can’t be to hard on him as he did drive 3000 miles to move her 3 hours away. He had been planning on coming in the spring but every time we talked on the phone, which was and is, almost daily, he would say how much he was missing her and so when I mentioned moving her he told me he would like to but couldn’t afford it. I agreed to help him out and of course he is staying here and with her in Kalispell for free so really just gas and motels for the trip home. I can’t blame him for my weight gain except to say that he is a big eater and so I am cooking more meals and bigger meals than I normally would just for myself. He isn’t stuffing the food in my mouth though. He has never had weight issues although he is a big guy. He played semi-pro football and has always worked out and kept himself in good shape. He is about 6’4 and 220 pounds. It is a good thing he has taken care of himself as he has had four heart attacks, open heart surgery and stents deployed a few times after his open heart. Genetics are his main issue.
I love Christmas and love decorating for it. Since we got the cat we have had issues with the tree. I always had real trees and we would go cut them as a family and then decorate them together. I was worried about the cat eating the pine needles and perforating her bowels so we got an artificial tree and she eats the leaves on that also so not sure which is worse? I have tried all of the tricks to keep her from getting in the tree but she is one smart cookie and absolutely fearless. This year I am not sure if I am going to put up a tree as it will only be me here until I go up to her place for actual Christmas day.

Rachel R. Avatar

Our cat Jack tries to eat the plastic needles, too. He’ll eat anything, so we have to watch him. I bought him live, potted cat grass one time, and of course that was the one thing he wouldn’t eat. He prefers to swipe the guinea pig’s hay.

Good job getting your HBA1C down, and the weight loss. Even if you gained some back, it’s still a net loss and you’ll probably lose again after the ex leaves. I hope the med increase helps you even more. Keep me posted.

Haul/Rediscoveries: Nothing new this week

Weekend plans: Going somewhere not affected by the power shut down in the Bay Area 😆
Nothing really, I hope to get a good hike on Saturday, and I’m still debating if to get a haircut on Sunday. I hate wasting time to get to the salon, get the wash, the cut, etc. I wish I can find someone to just do it in 10-15 minutes.

What are you most looking forward to in October?: Well… I’m looking forward for a little bit more fall weather, sweater and warm scarves time. 😀

Ana Maria Avatar

Fortunately my home is not on those power lines, but many businesses, shelters, coworkers and acquaintance are affected. Some got power last night, some might get tonight. But people are helping around, giving shelter to friends for a night or two.

Tina Avatar

Haul: Two Mac Love Me lippies in Bated Breath and Coffee & Cigs, and my first ever Huda Beauty purchase, Wedding Day lipstick. I love all three of these!

Weekend Plans: Regular house cleaning and hopefully relaxing a bit. It’s been crazy at work

Looking forward to in October: Wearing all my new fall clothes, and my birthday!

Mariella Avatar

Haul: I found an Eve Lom little set of a small jar of cleanser (which retails for $32) and muslin cloth (3 for $29 so almost $10 each) for a very good price at Marshalls. I quite like the cleanser and if it weren’t priced way ridiculously out in the stratosphere, I’d buy it again. I also got the re-introduced Indeed Labs exfoliating powder (now called Exfoliator II) – I have the original and I have Dermalogica and there is no difference between them, or not enough to justify the price difference (Dermalogica is about 4 times as pricey). I’m so glad Indeed Labs brought this stuff back.

Weekend plans: tomorrow is my birthday; I’m working out with my trainer and then waiting to be spoiled. It is also Thanksgiving here in Canada so 2 of my 3 kids with their partners will be here Monday for Thanksgiving dinner so Sunday will be spent doing some pre-prep to make the meal easier (I’ve already made a dozen mini raspberry white chocolate cheesecakes and a dozen pumpkin mini cheesecakes; they turned out wonderfully well and are in the freezer as I type)

What am I looking forward to in October: it’s probably my favourite month and not just because it’s my and my husband’s birthday month but also because I love the weather, I love the abundance of fresh produce – apples, squashes, lots of Brussels sprouts – and I also still love Halloween.

Genevieve Avatar

Happy Birthday Mariella for tomorrow. It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful day and I hope your family do indeed spoil you rotten!
Those mini raspberry white chocolate cheesecakes sound delicious – I am a totally cheeecake fan. It’s my favourite type of dessert.
I am sure you are going to be cooking up a storm for your Thanksgiving dinner and how wonderful that most of your children & their partners will be there.
I am a brussel sprout fan too – love them roasted with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper on them.
Have a great weekend.

Mariella Avatar

For Mothers Day, I asked for a mini cheesecake pan (it’s a cross between a muffin pan and a lot of little springform pans, so the individual cheesecakes pop out with no need for little muffin papers) but this has been my first time actually using them. They’re a bit more fiddly than making a whole cheesecake but they are so cute and kinda special and because they’re small, you can treat yourself to 2 or 3 different varieties (I only made 2 this time, but lots of them!). Tammy, do you find that the hardest part of working out is just GETTING to the gym and after that, it’s not so bad???

Thank you both, Genevieve and Tammy, for the lovely birthday wishes! So kind of you both!

Tammy Avatar

Haul: I haven’t hauled anything in a couple months but I’m definitely deep in the discovery phase with my current makeup collection. It wouldn’t be accurate to use the term rediscovery, as I feel I am just now really discovering the potential of some of the products I already own.

The biggest discovery is my Pat McGrath Mothership V, which I bought around this time last year. It is simply amazing! I simply cannot go wrong when I use this palette, especially right now with fall just beginning. I get compliments on my eyeshadow everywhere I go when I’ve got these colors on my lid. Today I used my Natasha Denona Gold Palette (the greens) and patted VR Fire Opal (a golden color with a green cast, kinda like snakeskin) over the top of the look, and it really elevated the overall look.

I’ve been mainly using all my Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona and Viseart palettes. I have so many beautiful options and it would be a shame for me not to enjoy them. I did a look a couple weeks back with the blue from Pat’s Subliminal Darkstar palette and I got more attention for that eye look than I had gotten on any eye look over the past year.

Another discovery has been NARS audacious lipstick in Shirley. OMG, this color! It is a slightly warm crimson and everything I crave in a fall lipcolor. It goes perfectly with the looks I’ve been creating with Pat’s Mothership V palette. And it especially looks stunning when I top it with Marc Jacob’s Enamoured High Shine Gloss in Ch ch changes (another green shifting snakeskin color).

Weekend plans: Husband is gone for the weekend and I’m so excited to have the house to myself.! Ever since I got married and started having children (over 30 years ago), I have most missed time alone. It’ll be the usual laundry, cooking, cleaning and workouts, but I will set aside some extra time just for me. The weather has gone full blown fall overnight, and I’m thinking about going to a local historic graveyard to help usher in the new season.

I am most looking forward to getting Pat McGrath’s Mothership VI. I haven’t bought eyeshadow in months and I just got my Sephora $100 gift card yesterday, so I’m ready to order!

Genevieve Avatar

It such a wonderful journey rediscovering the fabulous palettes you already have and you have such beautiful ones too. I had to look up the NARS lipstick Shirley and it is indeed a stunning shade. It would look fabulous on you with all of your bejewlled eye looks.
I always love having the house to myself – pretty rare now as my husband is retired. But our house it big enough so that we have our own ‘space’. It’s still not quite the same.
How have you been going lately?
I hope you have a peaceful and relaxing weekend.

Tammy Avatar

Genevieve,

We have a large house, just my husband and I, but you’re right, having my own space is not the same as truly being alone. My husband retires in 6 years and I’m not looking forward to it ?.

I have been doing well, thank you for asking. Our youngest son was home for a visit and now is stationed in Idaho. We visited our oldest son and his wife in St. Louis, MO, last weekend. We went to a store that sold original artwork and I fell in love with this beautiful tree of life wall hanging made out of aluminum. My children are chipping in on it to give it to me as a gift on my birthday in two weeks. The grandbabies got chicken pox a few weeks ago, despite receiving vaccinations to prevent this from happening, lol. They were quarantined. And I am training a new therapist at work, which takes quite a bit of time. She’s a nice girl and I’m glad to have her on board. After I’ve got her up and running in mid december, I will get a couple weeks off before my intern arrives in January.

So life’s been both busy and good!

Deborah S. Avatar

Saw your makeup look on IG. so beautiful and really brings out the colour of your eyes. You really know how to make your eyes pop. I have missed seeing you here on the blog! I know what you mean about having the house to yourself every once in awhile. It is nice to just be able to do what you want, cook what you want or not as the case may be. Nice when they come home, too!!

Mariella Avatar

I really enjoyed reading about your “rediscovery”. That’s sort of the situation I’m in too, with just having purchased so much over the years and not really got to enjoy much of it. Last week, I used a MAC Pro Longwear shadow (the old ones that came in really large pans) for the first time in ages and it was the same sort of thing – “why did I ever put this aside?” I’ve been buying less (and trying to buy even less than I have been buying) but enjoying more what I have. Your Pat McGrath palette enjoyment sounds like a perfect “rediscovery”.

And I know also what you mean about enjoying “you time” in a house all to yourself for a few days.

Kira Avatar

Haul/Rediscoveries: Pat McGrath Ritualistic Rose Blitz Astral Quad. I LOVE her Astral formula and these colors were too much for me to resist haha.

Weekend plans: Trying to get some major assignments done tonight and tomorrow (worked through the night last night!). It’s a work apart weekend, so I look forward to catching up on sleep, chores, reading, being outdoors, and painting!

What are you most looking forward to in October? Halloween!!! My favorite holiday. I will probably go to NYC the surrounding weekends to maximize the number of costumes I get to witness.

Haul:
Pat McGrath Ritualistic Rose quad, Femmebot lipstick
Tom Ford Soleil Neige, et Lune and d’Hiver quads
Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color duos Reflection and Fleur Neige
Essie Sweater Weather collection
Cirque Colors Rose Kaolin, Brownstone, Majolica, Tuscan Tile polishes
OPI Hello Kitty collection
UberChic stamping plates

Weekend plans: Chores and relaxing

What are you most looking forward to in October?: Cooler temperatures, boots, sweater, baking, soups, homemade apple pie(s), longer and cooler nights.

Sarah Avatar

I was bad.

Haul/Rediscoveries: Pat McGrath Ritualistic Rose quad because holy smokes is that not a stunning palette. I’m planning to get Nocturnal Nirvana next. The last quad I’m not interested in at all – a part of me wants it because I enjoy collecting Pat McGrath palettes but the shades don’t pull me at all.

Then I picked up the Megara set from ColourPop, it’s nice but I shouldn’t have got it because I doubt I’ll use it. Finally, I replenished my beloved Tarte Face Tape foundation with a 25% off coupon earlier in the week.

Weekend plans: My 10 year old Suzuki SX4 needs work. New belts, fluid flushing, and brakes. My partner and I are going to AutoZone tonight for parts and tomorrow we’ll spend the day under the hood. I do not look forward to it but it’s necessary. After that I may shamelessly waste time playing World of Warcraft Classic.

What are you most looking forward to in October?: EVERYTHING! I feel so alive in October. I love watching the leaves change, feeling the chill in the air, wearing big cozy sweaters and boots…I think October is my favorite month. I’m hoping to go to a pumpkin patch with my partner and pick up some cute little gourds!

Genevieve Avatar

I think you will love the new PMG quad, the quality is fantastic.
It’s pretty awful when your car needs quite a bit of work and you can’t afford to replace it. Hopefully it won’t be too expensive and with a bit of work it will run more smoothly. I think a treat after you finish it will definitely be in order.
Good luck.

lisas1970 Avatar

I totally forgot, I got Pat McGrath’s metamorphosis kit in bronze – WOW!! When you wet her eyeshadow the metallic effects are just amazing. I know it’s sold out but when it comes back in I highly recommend, J wish I could’ve bought her darkstar , even at sale price , it’s so close to Christmas. I also received her liquid lust duos, just amazing, the glitter is amazing and it’s not clunky or irritating on lips. I’ve never had such a sparkly lip gloss. Pat’s makeup is just another level for me. I do wish the prices were more reasonable but I get it , you get want you pay for. I use makeup revolution peach face powder and it’s pretty amazing ( and smells so peachy) for $14 .

Genevieve Avatar

Just letting you know Mumma that my food comes first! So typical of a male….

Haul: nothing this week.
Rediscoveries: I was doing my neutral palette a day venture this week when I got ‘stuck’ on Vice 2…. you just can’t beat the shades of Ambush, Radar, Derailed and Strike, the gold shade. I was also wearing more colourful tops, so I explored Madness, Stash, Damaged and even a bit of Voodoo and Shellshock.

Weekend Plans
Friday – we had Lachlan over and I took him to the local shopping centre to get him some new shoes.
I quickly worked out that he said the shoes didn’t fit if he didn’t like the colour… hmm. Anyway we ended up with two pairs of blue shoes.
Saturday – shopping, cleaning and babysitting tonight
Sunday – it’s the Bathurst 1000 km car race on, so the avid car watchers in our household will be watching that. I have no real plans.

Plans for October: Usually at this time of the year, I start thinking about collecting Christmas presents for my family so it doesn’t get too expensive in December.
Other than that, it is also seeing what the weather holds because it has been alternatively cool and warm over here.

TropicalCowgirl Avatar

Oooo Genevieve, I love Derailed. It’s very similar to the Nameless shade from the Shattered Face case from around 6 years ago.

We as a family decided this year…no presents except for the kids. Everyone is flying in from Florida and we‘ll be eating and hanging out. I’m looking at 10 extra adults, 3 adult step kids, and my 2 young nieces. I am starting to do prelim menu planning and hubby is going to go all Clark Griswald this year. I’m going to start decorating the house early November. But it’s super smart to start presents early. My friend is usually done in July.

Mariella Avatar

Ooooh – Vice 2! I was kicking myself for passing on the original Vice palette but Vice 2 more than made up for the loss! The colours you mention are (big surprise….NOT) also my favourites and I think Strike was where I made the “discovery” that gold shadow was something I could wear – I’d avoided gold before that.

Funny story about the shoe colour affecting “fit”! How old is your grandson?

Haul/Rediscoveries: Hauled Hourglass Ghost blush palette (love), Charlotte Tilbury mini lipstick set (love, they are darling!); rediscovered L’Oreal mascara primer
Weekend plans: Taking the dog to the lake Saturday as it is her fourth birthday today, homework/research for grad school, watching The Great British Baking Show with my husband and becoming even more weirdly invested in sponges and meringues.
What are you most looking forward to in October?: The cooler weather (even with the inevitable wind and PG&E shutdowns), winterizing my garden for spring, Electric Blanket weather is just around the corner

My daughter’s dog let’s us know when he wants to be pampered and we have to hop to it or else lol!

Haul/Rediscoveries: Nothing beauty this week, a nice warm sweater for the cooler weather was my only purchase.

Weekend plans: It’s Thanksgiving in Canada and I am invited to my Sister’s son’s for dinner on Sunday. We had our Thanksgiving dinner last night as my daughter is flying back home tomorrow.

What are you most looking forward to in October?: I’ve been in Vancouver for over a month taking care of my mother who’s going through Chemo, my husband is coming out next Friday night. We will carry on for a vacation while my sister gives me a break.

Thanks Rachel, Chemo is ugly but sometimes necessary. It’s hard to stand by and watch your loved ones ravaged by cancer, so giving our love and support to our Mom is our topmost priority right now. Thanksgiving has a deeper meaning for us this year.

Haul/Rediscoveries: Nothing makeup-wise, but I did get a turquoise leopard perma-open cardigan and a pair of faux-snake ankle boots with a 1 3/4 inch heel.
Weekend plans: Ran errands today, work all day and back end of the SVU marathon tomorrow, probably just relaxing Sunday.
What are you most looking forward to in October?: Not the new chilly weather! Probably the red leaves.
