Other than lacking one perfect, zingy purple, doesn’t this look rather familiar? I’m feeling some strong PMG Midnight Sun Mothership vibes here! I prefer Mother Pat’s formula, though. And that purple, too!
I feel like all of her palettes look the same…..they just don’t interest me. I have a couple of her quads, but I never use them.
I’ve never been a fan of Charlotte’s products as her line never seemed to be one that would work on brown skin. Now, I’m really put off. Half the palette are highlight shades. The swatches are a copy/paste job.
yes these swatches are a joke
I will be all over this. Love Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks and eyeshadows. (I was tempted by the large Denona palette, but I think I’d rather have this. Love Natasha Denona eyeshadow, but I can only wear them in the Fall/Winter, as Florida is way too humid for dense eyeshadow.) Charlotte is my makeup unicorn/Pegasus/faerie godmother. <3
Looks like everyone loves olive and navy this holiday.
I am not a fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s eye shadow formula. I did see a lot of looks with last years offering that tempted me to pick it up but I know I would be disappointed. This is an easy skip for me.
What did you dislike about the formula? I’m tempted by this palette, but have none of her eyeshadows!
Hi Lori,
My problem has always been that the shades blend into a muddy mess. I also get a lot of fall out but that isn’t a deal breaker for me as I can use a good primer or wet my brush. I have her Vintage Vamp palette and also bought one for my daughter. Both of us had the same problem. I tried different primers, different brushes trying not to over blend but they just were mud when I was done. I didn’t find that particular palette to wear very well either. There is a caveat, and that is that Vintage Vamp is the only e/s palette I have tried so they could be different. I have also tried her Eyes To Mesmerize and didn’t care for those either. I have Bette, Marie Antoinette and Jean and they crease on me within a short time and I never have trouble with creasing. They are not particularly shimmery either. I love her lipsticks, lip liners, powders, Flawless Filter and Hollywood Bronze and Glow just not the eye products.
Depending on where you are at and how much trouble you want to deal with, I would get it and try it. Just because they don’t work for me doesn’t mean they won’t work for you and if you really love it then I am sure there would be things you could do to mitigate any issues.
wow, thank you for the in-depth response! i really appreciate that. fall-out isn’t a big concern of mine either, especially since i tend to do any eyeshadow before my base application. i *might* pick this up, depending on finances – and if I do, I’m keeping that sephora receipt just to be safe!
I was too slow to grab the first big palette Charlotte put out and I had dupes for all the shades I was most interested in from the second palette. Something about this palette is just grabbing my attention, though! If it reviews well, it will be mine.
think that this is a very elegant palette. Her style repeats in this comparing to her quarts. Don’t own any of her quarts, but think this is a good price/quality deal.
I never understand how brands get away with releasing these kinds of swatch pictures. It seems pretty clear that these were not actually swatched on all three skin tones, right? Were they actually swatched on skin *at all*? I find the palette rather pretty but with this kind of advertising right out of the gate I don’t trust it because I feel deliberately misled.
Yep, that’s the feeling I get too Leo.
I completely agree! It is so odd that they would choose to do that. What is the real cost of just swatching on a real model? That’s what we want to see.
100% exactly my thoughts. Such fake swatches from many brands recently, it totally turns me off the product completely.
I feel like all brands look this way now, and it bugs me that the array of skin tones always seem to be fair white, lightly tanned white, and light brown. Sort of like Steven Colbert’s “All the colors of the rainbow, from ecru to beige”
I love CT palettes and her shadow formula really works well for me, but the first two trios look like EVERY OTHER PALETTE she has come out with. I am tired of seeing the same pinky gold and coppery colors that have shown up so much in her line. The second half of that palette is actually really different, so it bums me out that I will probably pass on this one. I have too many dupes even within her own line.
I love the first two shades in Love Glow and could see myself wearing them daily.
Too much shimmer I like shimmer but geez. The cooler tones are interesting but nah it’s overpriced too bland and not for me.
With vibrant color stories like JA x ABH, Celestial Storm and that Artist Couture palette, I feel like this is a ‘her?’ from Arrested Development moment. I’m also not a huge fan of CT shadows so I guess we’ll see.
LOL, I love Arrested Development. Highly underrated show.
Great show. One of my all time favourites.
Same! The original seasons are gems.
I am not going to get too excited over CT hype – we’ll just wait for the reviews to see what they are really like.
It’s nice but the caramel, red/pink and matte black (why?) shades don’t work for me.
I don’t have any CT– never felt drawn to her products. I think their pricing competes with brands I prefer. And here’s another palette where it’s half warm and half cool. Better than no cool I guess, but who wants to pay these higher prices for a palette you could use half of? Better to do two smaller palettes each of which would appeal to their audience segment.
I don’t feel like this is a very exciting release from Charlotte Tilbury; it’s so much like her last two holiday palettes. Actually, a lot of brands seem to be phoning it in for Holiday 2019, with slightly tweaked versions of previous releases. So far, the only holiday releases that have me interested are the Natasha Denona Metropolis and Hourglass Ghost palettes 🙂
I would buy this over the Denona palette, mainly because I would get a lot of use out of all of the shades in it and it’s not too warm unlike most of what’s out there at the moment. The really warm palettes just don’t jive with my skin tone (my fave palettes are ABH Sultry, Norvina and TF Chocolate Bonbons so that gives you an idea). I’ve heard some not so good things about her formula so I’ll be watching for reviews before deciding to pull the trigger on it!
Nope to the Nope Nope Nope….. I think it’s a nice everyday palette but LE and me are done!
I don’t have many CT eye shadows, but the two quads I have rate from OK to very good in my own not a bit scientific rating system. (OK, I don’t have a system, just made it up.)
I didn’t get a want feel from the one last year, and I don’t from this one either. I’d rather buy a quad, there are two I’d really like to have, can’t remember their names right now, Vintage Diva, if it’s called that, is one of the ones I have on my list.
The one thing I really like from CT are the matte lipsticks, they really do work well for me.
This palette is an easy skip for me.
Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows work effortlessly for me, so I’m certainly interested in getting this but I wish I could have the last two trios as the first two sets look similar to previous releases. Will verify through real swatches. I think it’s time for the warm orange and red shades to be retired.
CT packaging is lovely, and I feel her lipsticks are well formulated and sophisticated colours-just never drawn to her eyeshadow palettes for some reason. This is no exception.
