  • Who makes you laugh the most?: Definitely my husband! He’s the one I’m around most of the time, and he knows me like no one else, so I feel like we are very comfortable with each other and can easily make jokes and know exactly what will make the other person laugh, too.

Haul: PMG Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation, Natasha Denona Coral Palette, ABH x Jackie Aina Palette, Slip Silk Pillowcase, Cocofloss in Fresh Coconut and Delicious Mint, Marvis Whitening Mint Toothpaste, all from Sephora Rouge.

Weekend plans: Out of town friends are visiting so dinner and a movie.

Who makes me laugh the most? My husband, always and since 1981, when we first met. Also my childhood friend Jan. And every cat I have had.

Liz Avatar

I just got the NARS Makeup Your Mind Palette with the face and eye products. Really enjoying it so far! It has good neutral eyeshadows for my work days. I really want the Sugarpill Fun Size palette for fun makeup days!

My husband and cat keep me laughing 🙂

Natalie Avatar

I just got the Laura Mercier blush colour infusion (a formula I really enjoy but I know not everybody does!) in grapefruit which is a really unique red-coral shade with a sheen. Perfect for keeping that sunkissed look into the fall months. I also rediscovered my ABH modern renaissance palette. The colors blend so nicely and I forgot about it entirely! Used to be a go-to of mine a couple years back. I don’t have any weekend plans, just going to relax and enjoy the really nice weather. And my brother is the funniest person I know, always can put a smile on my face.

That is one MEGA Monstera! And obviously, Mellan approved ?

Haul: Sitting here waiting for my box from Sephora to arrive with ABH x Jackie Aina palette, Dior Backstage Cheek palette 02, and Glow Recipe Watermelon Setting Spray. Very excited to get to using all 3! Might visit Sephora for MJ Atomic Lipgloss and also order Melt Honey Thief and Nevermore blushes.

Weekend plans: Just the usual rigmorale. Wish we’d get some serious rain, and soon. This is the first monsoon season I’ve ever seen. No cool lightning pics or videos so far this summer.

Who makes you laugh? On TV, Jimmy Kimmel. In person, Br. Samuel Heard! He’s part of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses and he can go from super serious to best comedian ever in 60 seconds. Which is why I’m able to get the point he’s making whenever I listen to one of his talks. It reaches me deep inside.

Tammy Avatar

I am wanting the ABH Jackie Aina palette too, but I think I’m going to buy it at Ulta, if it’s available there. I have enough points to get it for free. So excited for this one!

Backstage 02: I use it every week! Hope you love it as much as I do.

Watermelon Glow Recipe Setting Spray: Another winner! I used it today to set my makeup. It looks GLOWY without turning greasy on my combo skin.

Nancy T Avatar

ABH x Jackie Aina: I’m literally holding off on doing my makeup until my package arrives, because I’m DYING to do a look using Sponsered, Dwollahs, Trust Issues, and the matte browns!

Backstage 02: Same goes for those delicious peach and bronze shades!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Setting Spray: Anything to not look like I just put hairspray on my face! Don’t get me wrong, my UD All Nighter serves a purpose when it’s either very humid and hot or when I’ll be attending an event where I need everything to stay put. However, All Nighter, while it does set everything perfectly and takes down any powderiness, also makes my fine lines more noticeable up on top of my cheekbones. Very Freddie Kruger-esque, if you ask me!

Poor Mellan! My cat and my dog have both been sick with minor issues (eye infection and ear infection respectively), and it has me and my husband so stressed out. I am sending some healing thoughts to your boy!

Haul: Maybelline Superstay Ink (liquid), which I am taking back. I thought it might be more similar to the L’Oreal Infallible Ink, but it is basically a worse version of NYX Liquid Suede on my lips. They can’t all be winners. My Sephora orders are coming today, and I got one of the Lancome Rose Creme lipsticks. I am beyond stoked for that, so I hope it doesn’t also disappoint!

Weekend: getting ready for the new semester of grad school on Monday, cleaning, laundry, walking the dog, gardening… all normal weekend stuff.

Who makes me laugh the most: My husband for sure! He is a goofball with me, but he’s super reserved with everyone else, so I get 100% of his comedy. We both have our own weird sense of humor, but he’s one of the few people who gets my dark, absurd jokes. My dog makes me laugh a lot too. She’s a rescue mutt, but we think she’s likely some mixture of Lab, Shepherd, Pit Bull, and maybe Boxer or something else. She has such a silly, fun-loving personality, and she also has the goofiest ears/expression. She is such an important part of our family though, because she’s so full of love and she’s best friends with everyone she’s ever met–which is the opposite of me and my husband! The cat isn’t funny though, she’s too regal for that.

Today I am focusing on figuring out what I want to order from Sephora summer sale. It’ll probably be mostly skincare but I might grab a bit of the fun stuff too. We’ll see.

Haul:

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Whirl(pool). I wanted a teal waterline color to help put some summer into my gold eyeshadow looks and this one is fantastic!

Charlotte Tilbury Hotlips lipstick in Electric Poppy. I thought I was going to like this more than I do. I do like it quite a bit but I thought it was going to be more vibrant. I’m sure there are quite a few readers here that would find it too bright and vibrant, lol. I do love it paired with MAC’s Lip Pencil in Beet, which wouldn’t seem like a great combination but it really works. I bet it will also look fantastic with MAC’s Cherry lip liner, I will have to put them together tomorrow!

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipstick in Velvet Underground. I almost didn’t get this because I already have a dupe but I’m glad I decided to purchase. The slight variations in color can make all the difference! Plus the formula is fantastic, long-wearing without being drying. This color is perfectly complimented by MAC’s Beet lip pencil.

After trying those two Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, I decided to take the plunge and order one lipstick from the Hotlips 2 collection. I got In Love With Olivia and…im in love with Olivia, lol. A nice nude that does not wash out my medium warm skintone. I am thinking about picking up another one of these at the Sephora sale.

MAC Lip Pencil in Beet. This is a second purchase, my previous one was getting old and dry. I specifically bought it for the lipstick s mentioned above.

NeuLASH Lash Enhancing Serum Duo and Brow Enhancing Duo. I got these during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, as they were essentially buy one get 1 free. I’ve been using lash and brow enhancing serums for about six months now. I am 53 and my lashes and brows were getting so sparse. They’ve made such a difference! Even my husband noticed about three weeks after I started. My daughter commented on how well I had filled my brows in two weeks ago and when I told her I hadn’t filled them in, she didn’t believe me.

Speaking of Nordstrom, I placed a large order on the first day I had access. As I was thinking over my priorities over the next few days, I realized nothing I had purchased was on my wishlist before the sale. Essentially I was buying items just because they were part of the sale. Part of that order included the Tom Ford eyeshadow set and the shimmering body oils. I recognized that I don’t want to buy things just because they’re on sale, and so, I cancelled my order. I’m so proud of myself! The only items I got were the lash and brow serums, because they were on my list before the sale.

Rediscoveries:
I am finally using my Natasha Denona Gold Palette. Golds don’t really do much for my eyes so I tend to be more attracted to other palettes. The ND gold is a beautiful palette and I love the greens especially. But the Sunrise palette is everything! Every color in the Sunrise brings out my eye color and enhances my skintone?.

I’ve also started using Charlotte Tilbury’s Iconic Nude Lip Cheat pencil and all of a sudden I can wear all those nude lipsticks that make me look like a corpse. Hmmmm.

Viseart Tryst: I have it on today. Why don’t I wear this palette every week???

Weekend plans: Making BLTs with tomatoes from the Farmers Market. Gym for RPM, weight lifting at home, cooking, and laundry. Thanks to everyone here who recommended Good Omens, it is SUCH A GREAT show, we will be finishing it this weekend!

My daughter Lea has a wickedly funny sense of humor. I don’t know where she got it from, husband and I are so serious. Even when she’s mad she’s hysterically funny.

Seraphine Avatar

Haul: I am happy to say that I did not go crazy with the Sephora VIB Rouge sale. My plan was to just buy a backup of Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup. However, Sephora brushes were on sale for 50% off with purchase of a full size foundation, so I bought a new #56 foundation brush (and they applied the Rouge discount to that, too!). The #56 is my favorite foundation brush and I’ve been using it for many, many years. I’ve been wanting a backup, so that worked out perfectly. I also bought a Sephora Colorful Contour Eye Pencil in the shade Aloha.
At Macy’s, I bought another MAC Love Me lipstick…somebody stop me! This time I bought Shamelessly Vain, which is very close to Lady Danger, but I like the formula a lot better.

Weekend plans: Visiting family, dinner with friends, chores, etc.

Who makes you laugh the most? A good friend of mine. She can make me laugh till it hurts!

TropicalCowgirl Avatar

Haul: I get my Sephora package tomorrow and my FFF box Tuesday…can’t wait. I finally broke down and got another palette…CT The Rock Chick. I also got a Nude Stix Beech Festival kit…I’ve been really liking my CT shadow pencils. And some Kiehl’s fave cream for winter. I’ve fallen in love with that brand.

I don’t really have anything taupe and hit pan with the one from an UD palette I loved. Since switching to tinted moisturizers and Isle of Paradise tan drops, I hadn’t been needing coverage. Well, I have broke out something fierce on the outside of my right chin (my stress area), and got a Chanel velvet tint foundation. It’s just alright and plays well on top of my moisturizer, providing decent coverage.

Weekend: just staying close to home. We got heartbreaking news my sweet golden retriever’s cancer decided to spread to her lymph nodes. After her second surgery to remove the new crops of tumors…they came back…the vet told us two possible options…leg amputation IF the lymph biopsy showed it hadn’t spread. She was young enough and a good candidate. We are now facing chemo until it stops working. We hopefully will get 12-18 months. I worry about her littermate brother and new little brother and how they will handle it when she has to go. So since she started chemo, we have to keep a close eye.

Who makes me laugh the most: my little black fluffy dog. His personality is sweet, spunky and sometimes hilarious. He loves to play with his big brother and it’s a hoot to watch.

I’m so glad that Mellan is doing better! I hope he continues to improve.

Haul:
*Sephora (Rouge sale) — ABH x Jackie Aina and Natasha Denona Lila palettes arrived 10 minutes ago. Woot! Both are so, so beautiful!

*SugarPill — Fun Size Palette and Endless Summer Pro Pan Collection.

*Tarte (friends & family sale) — ROTS Sizzle Eyeshadow Palette and Foundcealer Brush. My beloved MIracles in the Amazon Foundcealer Brush bit the dust, and it was LE from a QVC set. This one isn’t as big, but I’m going to try it out.

*Revolution Beauty/Makeup Revolution (clearance and flash sale items) — Makeup Obsession Marble Large Oval Face Brush ( Really nice!); Revolution Iconic Smokey Palette; Freedom Makeup London Pro 12 Audacious 3 and Audacious Mattes Palettes; Freedom Makeup London Pro 10 Eyeshadow Palette in Bare; Revolution Reloaded Palette in Provocative; Freedom Makeup London Pro Artist HD Pro Refill in Colour 01 (purple); I Heart Revolution Metallic Mermaid Lips in Deepsea and Siren; Metallic Unicorn Lips in Immortal and Whimsical, Metallic Dragon Lips in Dragon Lord, Faraway Flames, and Fire Breathing; Flare Lips in Galaxy and Meteor; Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Dare; and Freedom Makeup London Pro Lipstick in Pink 102 Candy Sweet.

*Other — Inglot Duraline; e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Snow (newish shade added to the fair end; I’m trying it out to see whether it’s an even better match than Light Ivory); e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer (I like it. It’s similar to the mix I’ve been making with their Hydrating Primer and my almost-gone NYX Angel Veil); EcoTools Perfecting Blender Duo; Revlon Ultra HD Vinyl Lip Polish in Rule the World; and Almay Top of the Line Eyeliner Pencil in Black Amethyst.

Weekend plans: Our new roof should be finished this weekend (knock on wood…er, shingles?). Dyeing my hair. I’m keeping the magenta/red color, but I’m going to try bleaching the shaved area and dying it with semi-permanent dye. I decided to go with a dark teal, but I’m hoping to switch up colors occasionally. The worst that could happen is I’d have to shave that side bald instead of just super-short. I am, however, too chicken to bleach my whole head and change colors frequently. I’d love to, but I’m scared of damaging my hair. So this is my compromise.

Who makes you laugh the most?: My younger son, Brandon. He’s known for his quick wit and keen sense of humor.

Rachel R. Avatar

Thanks, Tropical Cowgirl! I got my color at Sally Beauty. It seems they’ve added a bunch of new temp color brands since I was last in a couple months ago.
My hair is really strong: Chemical and curl resistant. I haven’t tried temp hair colors before. I got Iroiro, so we’ll see. I don’t mind if it doesn’t turn out to be temp. I keep that side shaved quite short, and my hair grows really fast, so it won’t be there long, regardless. I’ll let you know how the Iroiro works out.

I am glad to hear that Mellan is better. So hard when our furbabies are ill.

Haul: Nothing!! I have my cart at Sephora but haven’t placed the order yet. I am waiting as I think I can pare it down a little more. I started with over $700 in my cart and I am down to $275. I am mostly picking up skin care replacements and maybe one palette. I will have it for next weeks haul.

Weekend plans: I am caulking all the seams, holes and imperfections in my sub-flooring in a room I am starting to redecorate. I have decided to go with a white paper flooring and the floor needs to be in pretty perfect condition before starting to lay the paper. I haven’t started yet and my knees are already hurting just thinking about it. I am also painting some furniture for my daughter as she has taken her first apartment on her own in Kalispell, Montana. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she can find a job to support herself after her contract at Glacier National Park finishes the end of October. I bought her a sofa and she is taking an antique bedroom set that she has had for many years. I am painting it in Annie Sloan chalk paint in Paris Grey with some white trim. It is a pretty set and has a dresser, vanity, chair and headboard/foot board. She has a small table to use as a dining room table but when I went to look at the place with her this past week, it is pretty small so not sure a table of any size is going to fit in there. She is very excited about having her own place for the first time and I am excited for her. Now, I just have to keep my fingers crossed that she can find a decent paying job.
Laugh: My brother is really a crack up. He and I have similar sense of humor both preferring a somewhat sarcastic humor. My ex-husband could make me laugh also, but his sense of humor ran to the more slapstick type and after awhile that gets boring!!

Beautiful healthy plant. Glad to hear Mellan is feeling better.

Haul: Got the package today for Coloured Raine Power eye shadow palette, 3 lip sticks and coral blush duo, Sugar Pill mini Cold eye shadow palette, just ordered Besame’s Sleeping Beauty collection Mirror, blush palette, blue-pink lip stick and I couldn’t resist the rouge filled locket.

Weekend Plans?: Not much happening but I can always do some reorganizing in my closet and bedroom. Too much stuff! It’s getting overwhelming tbh

Who Makes you laugh the most?: My son , husband and baby sister crack me up! My family is crazy including me so I can count on chuckles every time I talk to my folks LOL

Haul: From Too Faced but purchased at Winners, a backup of their Peach Blur Pressed Powder and their Sweetie Pie Bronzer (thanks to a special friend for finding them and picking them up for me); at Sephora: two Marc Jacobs single eyeshadows – Brav-O and O-Yeah, from Youth to the People, Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask (I LOVE it!); Sephora’s Eye Love eyeshadow palette in Cool Medium, ABH Dipbrow in Medium Brown and the #12 pencil to go with it. Seems to me I got something else as well but for the life of me, I can’t remember what! Then, at the Ex (Canadian National Exhibition), I got some Elizabeth Grant hand cream for so little money (I got a tube a few years ago and could have kicked myself for not having got more of them – $5 a tube for a pretty good hand cream – and they also had ELF C eyeshadow brushes for $2, so I got 2 of those
Weekend plans: Today, we were at the Ex and hubby managed to fit in a brief visit to his cousin who is dying; very sad but hubs and his cousin were glad to see one another. He is so weak that his partner is discouraging visitors but D really wanted to see my hubs as a way of saying “good bye” to a large part of his family. Tomorrow, the gym and then I want to make a large batch of soup and a large batch of chili. I also plan to head back to Sephora to get some Olaplex hair oil (I tried a sample and really like it)
Who makes me laugh the most: My husband keeps me in giggles a lot of the time but no one can even come close to my best friend and almost sister Lynne. Honestly, every time we’re together, we end up laughing til we cry and no one else seems to think any of it is all that funny but we’re in hysterics.

Tracey E Avatar

Haul: Sephora (20% off): Pat McGrath Eyedol Eye Shadow in Rose Venus, ABH Eyeshadow Primer, and mini Too Faced Damn Girl mascara.

Charlotte Tilbury: Magic Vanish in Fair. The shade leans peach and seems to be missing the pink I need in a corrector. (I mix pink with a little peach using Bobbi Brown correctors). In daylight, the coverage using Magic Vanish with CT’s Magic Away concealer looks smooth and seamless; it’s ndoors where the colour isn’t quite right. I plan to be matched in store to ensure I’m using the right corrector and foundation shades.

Weekend Plans: I’ve been feeling tired of late, so hoping to go to bed at reasonable times this weekend. Also have a few items to sell and I’ve been putting the task off, so want to take care of that. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, so hope to enjoy the outdoors.

Who makes me laugh the most? My husband and my twin sister.

Genevieve Avatar

Good to hear that Mellon’s health is improving. That’s a big relief!

Haul: Nothing much this week.
Weekend Plans: Still travelling and today we have arrived in Bathurst (central NSW). Unfortunately the entire area west of the Great Dividing Range has been experiencing severe drought for the past couple of years. So what should be lush pasture land, flowing streams and rivers, is now quite dry. It is sad to see, Lots of little towns are impacted by this drought.
Tomorrow we are heading off to the Jenolan Caves system in the Blue Mountains. There are several levels of caving experiences and I am taking the medium one, whereas my fit son is taking the more adventurous one. It should be interesting.

Who makes you laugh? My own kids and grandchildren – all the time.

I’m glad to hear Mellan is on the mend.

Lancome Bi-Facil

Weekend plans: Other than the usual chores and mani and facial, not much. I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend.

Celesta Avatar

Haul: I got a perfume sampler from an instagram ad that I’m eager to try, but that’s it.

Rediscoveries: Physician’s Formula The Healthy Foundation

Weekend plans: It’s my birthday weekend! Planning a trip to the zoo with my family and hopefully some sleeping in and relaxing.

Who makes you laugh the most?: When my brothers and my cousins get together, I always end up laughing to the point of crying. They tell the best stories and play off each other so well.

Alecto Avatar

Haul/Rediscoveries: I did what I threatened to do and got trays that put all my lip products out where I can see them; in the process I rediscovered a lot of colors that excited me at the time I got them — I look forward to diving back in!

Weekend plans: Well, by the time I’m reading/writing this, the weekend is essentially over, but I didn’t really have any plans going into it, so … no loss.

Who makes you laugh the most?: This is going to sound weird, but … me? I’m the one with the reputation for timely (and often inappropriate) humor. I especially like to make light of stressful situations where no one is really in harm’s way or dealing with true life issues, but just weighed down by too much insignificant cr*p (this is the very definition of my job, so my office mates tend to get me at my lightly inappropriate best/worst).

Carmen Avatar

Haul: The new Anastasia Beverly Hills foundation and a set of the Fresh Sugar Lip balms.
Rediscoveries: I recently got back into using my ColourPop Super Shock shadows and I don’t know why I haven’t been using them much for the last couple months because they’re amazing!
Weekend plans: Sleep, sleep, and more sleep.
Who makes you laugh the most?: My grandpa! He’s a huge practical joker and he’s always telling jokes. He’s also known for drawing you in like he’s telling a true story and then it turns into a joke when you least expect it. He’s hilarious!

Nikki Avatar

Sorry this is so late-my allergies really hit me hard this weekend and my computer was acting up last night. Mellan looks so cute sticking his head inside Grawpy!
Haul/Rediscoveries: I finally ordered my tubes of Tom Ford Lips & Boys Liev and Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Infrarose lippies! Neimans expects Liev to hit my doorstep this Thursday, Nordys expects Infrarose to do so no later than Sept. 4.
Weekend plans: Worked all day and ran errands Friday, relaxed yesterday, did laundry and went to Bob Evans today.
Who makes you laugh the most?: This varies depending on my mood. Right now I’m frequently replaying last year’s SNL Career Day sketch where host Adam Driver plays an ancient and extremely intense oil baron who speaks (read: screams about being ridiculously tough-minded) at his son’s (Pete Davidson) high school career day.
