Rant & Rave: Felt-Tipped Eyeliners

Share: Tell us what you love and hate about Felt-Tipped Eyeliners!

my answer: They can hold a lot of product without it getting too thick/runny compared to a regular brush applicator, but sometimes they can be too floppy!

I remember being in love with the felt tip pen by Stila. However, it did lose stiffness. Even thought there was still liner left, I had to throw it away. I couldn’t control it. In general, I prefer a brush and a pot of gel liner.

Jordana’s Fabu Liner is literally amazing. Only $1.99, super pigmented, and it lasts forever! I’ve had one for over a year, and it’s still going. My holy grail product — you can buy it from Walgreens!

Emma, it’s awesome you’ve found a product you love! A word of advice, though, liquid/cream products, especially those used around the eye can harbor bacteria which can lead to nasty infections. Especially at that price, you might want to think about getting a fresh liner! Good luck!

In my experience, they can be very hit & miss. I had one from Physician’s Formula that was amazing, as it went on well, the formula was great, and it was just like using a felt-tip marker on the eye in terms of ease. I went through it rather quickly, but for the price I didn’t reall mind. However, I have one from LORAC that just leaks in the barrel, and I have to wipe it off every time I open it. It came in a set, so I kept it, but I don’t think I’d buy it on its own, although aside from that one issue, it’s a great product. If I got one again in the same situation, and it turned out the one I have now was an anomaly, I’d consider buying it. All of that being said, I’ve actually grown accustomed to the to the “brush & barrel”, so I prefer those, especially since that’s how my two HG liners are packaged.

Perfect as this topic has been on my mind and I am looking forward to reading the other responses. I typically use gel liner for most day looks, but move over to Dior Diorliner felt tip when building thicker winged eye looks. Key points for me: The formula has to be good, waterproof, flexible so it doesn’t emphasize crepiness and in particular, resist cracking. Nothing looks worse. Oh, and too much coffee can be a terrible thing for me with these pens 😀

I’ve only ever used Armani’s eyeliner pen, and it was fantastic. Just stiff enough, and perfect for sitting right on my lashline as I lined my eyes. Lately, though, I’ve been using Guerlain’s liquid eyeliner – it’s amazing. The brush is stiff enough, it doesn’t dry up as quickly as a pen, and the color is so inky and gorgeous.

I just started using one from mark by Avon that I got in a set and I’m a fan so far. Its a dark midnight blue and it goes on really well with a decently short dry down time. I’m wearing it today and it hasn’t faded at all since this morning. My sister is also obsessed with her Stila felt tip eyeliner she just bought.

if the tip remains stiff, its a great tool but if it starts to bend and become soft, its worthless at least for me. also, they can appear dry when in fact have some product left.

I tried a brush tipped eyeliner before I tried a felt tip eyeliner and the brush tipped eyeliner is far more superior.

The felt tip liner was too stiff and was too chunky though it has yet to loose its tip. By the way, the product is Physician Formula eye definer felt tip eye marker.

The only felt-tipped liner that I’ve liked is the Tokidoki Perfetto Eyeliner. I’ve had better luck with gel/liquid liners. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner and Wet n Wild H20 Proof Liquid Eyeliner are my personal favorites.
