I have some natural light that comes in through two windows, but they’re the opposite side of my vanity in a larger room, so I rely more on a simplehuman magnifying mirror and recessed lighting, all of which have light that mimics daylight (white light but not too cool-toned).

An area I need to address. I have a small window, an indirect ceiling light, and the light from my makeup mirror, but I do not care for the mirror light on my face directly. I find it inhibits me; particularly in the dark. I’ve been eyeballing one of those traditional makeup stands with the globe lights forever, but they are expensive and I seem to have other ways to spend my cash. Recently I saw a smaller tabletop version and that might be the one. During the day I’m absolutely fine with my currently lighting, but it’s the early morning still dark out where I have trouble.
If anyone has a ‘hollywood’ style mirror as such and has feedback on brand and preferred style of light (conventional versus LED, tone, etc..), I would love to hear from you.
I use the natural light that comes in through the windows in my bathroom and the ceiling light in there (I think there are 3 bulbs in it). What I need most, because I’m so short-sighted, is my magnifying mirror, which I can angle to catch the light.
My. vanity is in front of a window, so in the morning it’s a mixture of daylight and my Zadro lighted mirror (one side regular, the other side 10X).
Just another of many a Conair lighted 2-sided magnifying mirror, the overhead ceiling light and whatever little bit of light manages to make it through my north facing window. In other words, it’s a struggle! Next winter when Nordies has Simplehuman mirrors on sale, I’m going for it. Also, the 2 BR apt. in back of mine that my son and I will likely move into has the same north facing window in what will probably be my room, but with a window panel just above it that lets in more daylight, also, it doesn’t have an eave/overhang either. I do believe that will help a great deal!

I have both natural window light and overhead spots. I also use a pedestal unlighted mirror and a small 10x Floxite lighted mirror. Then I use a hand held 15x small battery lighted mirror. I am waiting for Simple Human to increase their mirror magnification for me to make a purchase. This is an ongoing challenge for me to be able to see what I’m doing as well when to put my contacts in my eyes. Usually the contacts go in first. But one is for distance and one is for close up, so trying to use the distance eye for close up work is an effort!
I sure know where you are coming from. I brilliantly had my one eye lazered for distance and left the other eye for close up. So putting my makeup on is a challenge. I fumble through and it does turn out ok, but I never thought about it when I went in for the surgery. Plucking my eyebrows is fun too!

I’m feeling your pain here! I’m putting off the lazar surgery as long as possible. Sometimes I leave out the distance contact so I can see in the mirror.
It takes effort to see to put on make up.
How do you choose your eyesight (nearsighted/farsighted?) when you laser it? I thought the surgery was meant to correct vision to 20/20.
You can choose to have mono vision. They choose which eye depending on your dominant eye. They will leave one eye for near sight and then they lazer one for far sight. It took me a while to get used to it, but I love the fact that I don’t have to use glasses or contacts anymore.
I have natural light coming through my ensuite window, but I also turn on the overhead spotlights to apply my eyeshadows.
The bathroom I use to put my makeup on in has no windows. But the one I get dressed in has two picture windows. So I can make sure everything is right after I get dressed.
I don’t have a place to sit down and do my makeup so I apply my makeup standing up. I have a medium sized mirror on my closet door, which is next to a window. The light bulb in my bedroom is in daylight. I prefer light bulbs in daylight because I know my makeup will look just as good outside as it does inside. I really wish I had space for a vanity because I’ve always wanted one of those mirrors with light bulbs all around it. They do sell portable ones but I can’t afford to spend the $$ on one.
Lighted 10 x magnifying mirror all the way. It’s a fairly nice one, a gift from the friend I was staying with while looking for a house to buy when I moved back to San Antonio. I absolutely need the magnifier, I’m blind for anything close up. The mirror flips to normal but I have never used the normal side! Lol! ?
This is a big problem for me and I’m looking for ideas. The bathroom in our old house had a window next to the sink and sconces on either side of the mirror, which worked great for me (and the sink wasn’t too deep so I could get close to the mirror as necessary). But we moved and now have a deep sink (leaving me far from the mirror), no window anywhere near it and light fixtures shining down from above the large mirrors. This is particularly bad for my eyebrows which are scant and very blonde; with overhead light I can’t see them at all to shape them. My Simplehuman is strongly magnified which isn’t good for some things. I need a large non-magnified vanity mirror with good lighting and I can’t even replace what I have because the wall is completely tiled and the electrician won’t drill new holes in it. Aargh!
I only get enough natural light to put makeup on by for a few months out of the year, so I stick to a lighted Zadro mirror with a normal side and a 10X side.
The room where I apply my makeup gets plenty of light from 5 window surrounding it and a ceiling light fixture with 4 bulb. The house faces the north east. I get plenty of light during the day time up until the sun sets.
I use a simple human mirror which I love.

I have a Simplehuman mirrror that I love. My bathroom is an open bathroom so it’s rather large and the lighting is not too bad, but there are times I will take a hand mirror to a window with sun to look at it especially if it’s a new brand I’m trying out.
