A Holiday Party on Your Nails

China Glaze Glitter All the Way Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “exciting multi-color glitter.” It has a multi-sized glitter particles that range in color from violet, emerald green, ruby red, and gold. All the glitter is suspended in a clear base, so it can also be layered over other polishes. I couldn’t think of a dupe for this shade, but I don’t have an extensive review library of glittery polishes (yet!).

Two coats isn’t opaque, but it is dense enough that it doesn’t look sparse. I layered one coat over black (one coat of Illamasqua Boosh), and it enabled the glitter to stand out a lot more. I think the sizes become more apparent that way, too. The consistency was on the thicker side–about on par with a lot of glitter polishes–so be careful when applying so that you don’t get too much polish on the nail. I found the glitter spread fairly evenly and didn’t need to be dabbed and pulled at a lot.  China Glaze’s glitter polishes last a week on me with minor tip wear (a little more than I get with a solid color) but no chipping when worn alone.  Over a base polish, the tip wear is on par with average.

If you have this polish already, have you discovered any spectacular layering combinations?

Me: “Oh I think I need this.”
BF: *without looking up from his work* “No.”

Sob.

That said, it is gorgeous. And funky. And like you said, not so christmassy that you couldn’t wear it any time you wanted.

I was going to say that it looked like a dupe for OPI “Mad as a Hatter” but that one is significantly more opaque than this one. I do love the way this one looks over the black polish. Might be a fun way to glitz up some of the darker colors I have.

I just can’t get behind all these multi-colored glitters that companies are releasing en masse. It looks like they swept up all the leftover glitter off the floor and dumped it in a bottle. I love glitter but when it’s just a bunch of colors thrown together it looks childish to me.

I have a very very bad obsession with glitter polishes. *MUST HAVE*

Christine, I love this and I love how you did an accent finger! Beautiful!

I got this one and was disappointed. It started chipping and sliding off in shards (if that makes sense?) in just a couple hours. I did not have any oil on my nails prior and I put Seche Vite as a topcoat. The next night I tried China Glaze “Winter Holly” (another holiday glitter polish) and it did the same thing. So strange! 🙁

This is how all glitter polishes work on me which sucks because I love them. I get about 2-6 hours of wear before I usually lose a whole nail in one go. I wash my nails and nail polish remover them to remove oils and have tried many base coats. Booo-urns, so pretty!

Just got this polish a week or so ago I look at it and think mardi gras in a bottle I guess the color combination makes me think of that:). I find it to be an extra pain to get off but it was gorgeous over wet n wilds buffy the violet slayer and China glaze little drummer boy.

I layered a coat of this over a blackened purple Orly color. Gorgeous! The deep color gives it a really rich and insanely sparkly effect! The purple makes the other colors, especially the green, stand out more. I’m trying a deep green next: to make the reds, golds and purples stand out.

It looks really good over Winter Holly. It is like a Christmas tree covered in multicolored lights. It’s even better if you add some gold leaf topcoat under or over it.
