This week’s Mellan video…
And… pounce.
Haul: Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal, all 5 that came out for the winter.
Weekend plans: Christmas shopping.
What’s your creative outlet?: Making costumes/cosplay.
I haven’t seen the Metals yet, gah!
There new and in Canada only at the moment… Super fine milled pigments where used to get that metallic finish.
The shock that Canada got them first, as it usually the US that gets everything months early then us in the Drugstore launches. lol
I literally stumbled over them last Friday when going to the post office. Gave me the weekend to play with them before posting swatches. (Despite the sun not co operating as all!)
This weeks haul – I used my Sephora VIB 20.00 gift card to order the UD Vice palette and a set of Clarisonic brush heads – proud of myself because I bought something I wanted and something I needed! haha I also bought Pantene Hydrating Curls conditioner and 3 China Glaze nail polishes from the Cirque Du Soleil collection: Craetive Fantasy, It’s A Trap-Eze and Whirled Away.
Weekend plans – a work Saturday but only a half day, so I will using the rest of my weekend to Christmas shop, wrap and finish decorating!
My creative outlet’s are makeup, writing and documenting my fanciful dreams in my dream diary.
Great haul, Amber!
haul: ysl le teint touche eclat with my discount card at sephora because I needed a back up. Also diptyque invigorating bodywash as an early xmas gift from my boyfriend! China glaze it’s a trap-eze, ordered chanel peridot FINALLY, aaaand i think that’s it. someone got ahold of my bank card information and charged a bunch of crap on it so I don’t want to spend any more money until that is taken care of.
Weekend plans: puppy duty! she got into something (god knows what) and her butt exploded all over (and i mean all over) our carpet TWICE in one day leading to an emergency vet visit. She’s finishing her medication this weekend and i have to feed her bland food until all is normal. My boyfriend is working all weekend so it’s just puppy and adventure time!
Creative outlet: i used to play a lot of instruments and be in a band, but those days are over. I would like to start singing again. Maybe one day try out for the voice!
What was your favorite instrument to play?
Probably violin!!
You know what I love about Mellan? He still looks like a puppy sometimes! Love how his “eyebrows” look here.
Haul: I… really hauled this week. I got the Best of Becca set and LMdB Bauhaus. Still waiting for both to turn up on my doorstep! Way too overexcited!
Weekend plans: Tomorrow I’m attending a blogging workshop. Hopefully I’ll learn a lot from the photography lessons! We’re going to an orchestra concert on Sunday. Should be fun!
What’s your creative outlet: Blogging. I’m pretty clumsy so I was never into crafts, but I do like to write.
He does do a good brow wrinkle!
Melan looks like he’s thinking really really hard, hehe.
Haul: Nothing this week! :-O
Weekend plans: Out for cocktails tonight with friends, woohoo!
What’s your creative outlet?: Blogging and writing 🙂
Have a great weekend!
I hauled MAC Taste Temptation Night Blooming l/s and Unconventional blush. Seductive Intent got sold out quickly so I guess I’d have to get it at the store.
I hope you can nab it at the store!

I love Pinterest! That’s a great way to kill time!
Haul: Some Sephora eye brushes, Guerlain Quad in Bois de Rose (I kept wavering between that and Les Verts once I convinced myself not to get Les Gris since I don’t wear blue enough to justify the price), Zoya polishes in Lotus, Yara, Storm, and their armor top coat.
Weekend Plans: Wrap Christmas presents.
What’s your Creative Outlet?: Mostly makeup since it’s something I do multiple times a week. Especially playing around with eyeshadow colors and finishes and layering polishes. I like drawing and watercolor painting as well. And also coming up with song mixes for people/activities/everything if that counts.
Coming up with song mixes definitely counts!

Weekend plans: Checking out an apartment that I may be renting with my boyfried for the first time. Calming my parents down when they find out I’m moving out with my boyfriend…
What’s your creative outlet?: My make up. My face is a canvas, and I love texture/colours.
Ahh, another Burberry Beauty fan!
Haul: A couple of Konad stamping polishes, plus I’ve ordered a couple of things from the new Dita Von Teese collection from ArtDeco.
Weekend plans: Drinks with friends, maybe go for a dance, do a bit of shopping, play some video games… the usual really 🙂
What’s your creative outlet?: Web design, jewellery making and makeup/nail art.
The Dita Von Teese collection looks pretty!
Haul: Sephora X polish in Chaotic. Haven’t tried it yet, but plan to, hopefully tonight!
Plans: Shopping for maternity clothes. My bump is growing and my pants are too tight. 🙁
Creative outlet: I used to draw/paint but I just don’t have the time for that anymore. Nowadays, I think of healthy yet yummy ways to cook meals for my hubby and I.
Have fun shopping! Congrats on your pregnancy!
Haul: Nivea Lip Butter? Lmao, I must spend most of my money on lip balm/butter, I lose it constantly. A few more xmas presents, that’s about it. Oh, and Pokemon Black 2 as an early xmas gift from the bf (I got him GW2 as a trade-ish present thing).
Weekend Plans: None at the minute! I might wrap some gifts too. Debating ordering a few things from MAC/Benefit (since I found out the first lipgloss I bought from them is getting discontinued??? D:) but the xmas rush. :|a
Oh, and I will finally put my new SD card in my new camera lol.
Creative outlet: I try everything! SimCity Social (does that count? I like creating cityscapes lol) and Sims Social (interior design hello). Writing (which I haven’t done for a while). Playing with make up/photography… It just depends on my mood.
—
What is Mellan playing with there?
It’s a squeaky ball from a toy kit I bought at Target. It’s labeled “Cheese Ball,” I believe!
Oh god, squeaky toys. The bf’s rottweiler/lab (we think) cross gets so strangely possessive over them! He doesn’t even go crazy playing with them – which, considering his reaction to EVERYTHING else that is even remotely toy-like (including fluffy hats), is just odd. He just sits and nuzzles it like it’s his baby.
And Mellan always impresses me with how dignified he manages to seem on camera.
P.S. Stop making me consider ordering Burberry online! /ogling the lip velvets on Harrods’ website right now.
LOL! I don’t know if I’ve ever bought Burberry in person – it’s always online for me myself!
I think they’d just give me the most “who is this peasant?” Look if I went in person. I always look like a tramp. But otoh, shipping costs. 🙁
Haul: A few plastic rollerballs so I can decant my perfume for my wedding.
Weekend plans: Visit my niece and nephew. Take at least one of them (whoever is the least wiggly) to the Dicken’s Fair in San Francisco.
What’s your creative outlet?: Wedding preparation is holding back my normal creative outlets (painting, crafting). However, there is a nail polish backlog I have to go through. Manicures and nail art ahoy!
What’s your favorite style of nail art?
I like the chevrons. I just use a piece of clear tape and ta-da! Instant fancy nails.I love striping but I’m trying to find a thin brush that won’t show my nail art wiggles when I start striping.
Aw hahah Mellan’s face is so expressive!
It definitely is!
Haul: NARS Superstar nailpolish and bareMinerals The Rare Find palette. I blame it all on you Christine! 🙂 No, seriously, I’m super glad! I’ve been looking for a blue nailpolish like that for ages, and don’t get me started on the awesomeness of that green shade (though all of them will find their use!)! I went a bit overboard, but I’m celebrating the check I received for giving Latin lessons. Woooo!
Weekend plans: Christmas shopping, again! I feel like I still have a gazillion gifts to purchase, it’s a bit overwhelming!
What’s your creative outlet?: I used to draw a lot, but I haven’t got time for that for a long time now. I still doodle occasionnally though. So I guess it’s make up? I’m never super original, but it helps me clear my head! My sister always said I was too serious, so she rather encourages my passion for makeup.
YAYY! Always happy to help find new fun products 🙂
Haul: MAC lipsticks 3N, Runaway Red & Ruby Woo. Urban Decay Naked palette – I got $15 off with my Sephora coupon yay! I spent 15 minutes staring at the two palettes trying to decide which one I wanted LOL
Weekend Plans: I guess I’ll be adding the decorations to the tree, I put the lights on last night. Finishing inviting people to xmas dinner, and telling them what they could bring… hoping people have enough spare chairs…
What’s your creative outlet?: I guess makeup application is one, and I guess putting on clothes is one as well, I really feel satisfied by a good outfit(that sounds crazy LOL)… and cooking too!
When we look good, we feel good 🙂
Haul: Smashbox Try It Kit, Clinique Brush-on Cream Liner in Black, Tarte Clean Slate Deluxe Primer Trio, MUFE Aqua Eyes Liner in 10L, Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner in Vamp, Smokey Eye Brush, & Concealer Brush!
Weekend plans: Studying 🙁
Creative outlet: Reading
What kind of books do you like to read? What’s your fave?
Haul: Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Facade and Liason (YAY IT’S BACK!), and medium pencil in Adamant
Weekend Plans: Gonna referee at a NERF war event, then fabric & yarn shopping with a friend.
My creative outlet: Fiction writing.
What kind of fiction do you like to write?
Mellan-Cutie looks so intrigued. I think it’s so neat how their claws extend out. I have not noticed with my little terrier-ist but my very large Rottenees will grab toys and out come her claws or when she streches. I’m half way entertained to paint her nails. Though, I think that would be a disaster waiting to happen. LOL!
Haul: Walgreens: Revlon polishes in 261 Sparkling and 089 Sunshine Sparkle. Sallys: Jug of acetone, Color Club in Snow-Flakes and Seche in Collage Overlay (new, LE, glitter packed awesomeness).
Weekend plans: Not sure. Bestie wants to go to the casio. I think I plan on staying in, lolly gagging in a warm bed and watching Hulu. The weather has taken a turn … cold, misting and dreary. We are supposed to get snow on Sunday. *cry*
What’s your creative outlet?: Painting my nails, Pinterest-ing, cooking and less than half way blogging/Tweeting.
They can be very cat-like, can’t they? It is funny that it is the BIG dogs that are most like that!
So true Christine!
I have been so stressed out from the wreck and the new position at work, that I totally forgot that Chanukah starts Sat night. I’m about to cry because I don’t have time to get mom anything and I’ll be coming empty handed 🙁
On a lighter note: Happy Chanukah to all my yidden. Get your fill of latkes and sufganiyot 🙂
Maybe something handmade? Baked? Even a card with a heartfelt note 🙂
Haul: got some Philosophy gift sets to give to friends’ daughters and I got myself the absolutely amazingly wonderful Tarte Jumbo Eyes Pencils (5 jumbos and 1 skinny) that is their LE release for this holiday season. The pencils are amazing and the colours are absolutely perfect!
Weekend plans: start to put up the trees (we have 2); get started on Xmas baking (eggnog quick breads and Skor shortbreads to start, and I hope I can keep from eating too many!)
What’s your creative outlet? For me, it’s sewing clothing (I can’t make a curtain or cushion to save my life but I love sewing my own clothing) and cooking – I really love to cook though the daily grind of it can get a bit tiresome sometimes.
Ooh, your friends’ daughters will love you 🙂
Haul: It was actually last week but I got to visit the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics store in the Lower East Side NYC and get some lip tars. I only got Anime and Yaoi but I do like them, so pigmented.
Weekend plans: I’m planning to sort my closet and donate clothes. And maybe I’ll actually paint the bathroom, the paint’s just been sitting there ready for like a year.
What’s your creative outlet?: Woodworking
Woodworking! That’s awesome!!
haul: far too much… 🙂 terracotta four seasons bronzer, chanel poudre universelle libre…two bobbi brown high shimmer lip glosses…and dior hydra tint tinted moisturizers!
weekend plans: holiday parties! great excuses to break out these new products!
creative outlet: writing!
How many holiday parties are on your calendar so far, Amy?
Mellan is crazy cute! I love how he has his brow furrowed in concentration.
He’s SO expressive because of that. You can always tell when he’s thinking!
Haul: I was lucky to go on a quick working trip to the US and was able to pick up some goodies at Target: L’Oreal HIP eyeshadows in Electrified and Sculpted; Sonia Kashuk Perfectly Neutral eyeshadow palette, a Powder/Blush brush and a bent eyeliner brush; Milani Illuminating Face Powder in Hermosa Rose, Essie nail polish in Mademoiselle, Aveeno Instant Relief Hand Cream (which is HG for me), Neutrogena On the Spot Acne Treatment & Rapid Clear 2 in 1 Fight and Fade Gel, a Revlon Crazy Shine nail buffer with a cute red butterflies pattern and a couple of fun colored Trim nail files!
Weekend plans: Bath time for my pup Kasumi and decorating the Christmas tree!
What’s your creative outlet? I like to do anything that involves cutting paper, drawing, pasting…my nephew has appreciated the extra help he has got from me for school projects! And of course, makeup!
Mellan looks so concentrated on getting that ball…super cute!!
I hope you had a nice trip the U.S.! 🙂
Haul: Chantecaille Rose Petals Highlighter, Armani Eyes to Kill mascara. I must confess – the highlighter disappointed me upon sight. The compact was plastic and I just thought that, for the cash, it should have had some heft. Then I put some on and fell in love – it is the perfect glow. (The mascara took the curl out of my lashes.) 🙁
Weekend Plans: I need to wrap my presents, so I know what else I need to buy and for who.
Creative Outlet: Writing. I am working on a novel and a memoir-style book about my years teaching school.
Ooh – that is fun! Good luck on your novel, Jessica!
Haul: Nothing
Weekend plans: Working on finals
What’s your creative outlet?: Writing in my journal
Good luck on finals!
I love Mellan’s furrowed little brow…he’s so focused! *snuggle*
Haul: nothing of interest
Weekend plans: visiting family
What’s your creative outlet?: writing
We have a lot of writers here – so awesome!
Heya Mellan.. maybe even more toys coming your way for Christmas?? ;O)
Haul: Chanel Notorious. As fabulous as I hoped. What I like the most: you don’t need a lot of product and it looks seamless on my skin. Also more indie polishes from Candeo, Hare, and Lush Lacquer.
Weekend Plans: We bought an everlasting tree this year and I’m super happy with it, it’s really quite stunning, but the frosty bits are chock full of glitter and now there is glitter everywhere. Cleaning the house top to bottom.
Creative Outlets: I have many and won’t bore you with the list.
Bore away, Wendy 😉
Haul: ALOT of nail polish…
L’Oreal: Stroke of Midnight, V.I.P. Status, Breaking Curfew, After Hours, & Haute Couture Red
Revlon: Rain Forest
Sally Hansen: Aisle Be There
Sinful Colors: Nova, Kissy, Inkwell, I Miss You, Forget Now, Dazzle, & Call You Later
I also went to ULTA for the first time, and picked up a Rimmel mono eye-shadow in Dusk & a taupe shadow from essence, both I plan to try as face contours. I also picked up Kate Moss/Rimmel #15 & 2 NYX round lipsticks in Galaxy & Honey (this may just be my HG nude).
Plans: Breakfast with Santa tomorrow (my daughter, not me, LOL), and maybe a stop at Sephora & MAC.
Creative outlet: I have many, however, finding the time to engage in any of them is another matter…
Those are all lovely polishes, Amy! 😀
I bought so many, I forgot to list two more: Maybelline Plum Paradise & Blue Freeze, LOL. I realized I had a binfull of beige, champagne, red & burgundy, but not many “fun” shades… So far, I’ve worn all the L’Oreal blues. I’ve also developed a fondness for microshimmer (which I think hapened *here*, LOL).
I love Stroke of Midnight and VIP Status, though I have to admit they are very close in some lights! I hope your daughter has a blast with Santa tomorrow!
Hahaha, awww, Mellan’s brow wrinkle is so cute! The way he has his paw on that and the look on his face just screams, “MINE! I own you!” followed by, “Now, what is this?” 😀 I sure love that dog!
Haul: I had to make use of that $20 off reward from Sephora! I decided it was a good time to pick a few things. I got a rollerball of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, LORAC 3D Liquid Lustre Diamond, and then what I was most excited about…LORAC PRO PALETTE!!
Weekend plans: I still have more Christmas shopping to do.
What’s your creative outlet?: Primarily makeup, but I also like card making and scrapbooking. I like to cook, too. 🙂
Have a fantastic weekend, all!!
That reminds me that I still have mine to use, lol!
What do you think of the Viktor & Rolf scent, Miss J?
It’s not an original scent by any means, but it’s one of those fragrances that is right up my alley. I am awful at describing scents, but I’ll try. Sephora lists it as Oriental, Gourmand, Floral. Despite the name, the floral notes are the least prominent aspect of the scent. I don’t know how to describe it other than warm. I inhale and smell warmth, lol. It’s not overly spicy or overly foody…it’s just a nice mix that smells warm and slightly seductive, but the floral aspect still gives off a fresh, feminine feel. I tested this over a year ago, and I just had to give in after smelling it in the holiday catalogue from Sephora. The male version is Spicebomb, and I don’t know if it’s intended to actually be unisex, but it is definitely an androgynous fragrance; if that one had a rollerball, I would have got that, too. All I could think after smelling it was that it smelled like a cold winter’s night, LOL.
It’s a floral sugar, that’s for sure. And you’re right, it’s not a true gourmand scent. (I have problems with those. lol) I was just curious as to whether you liked it. On me and for *me,* I prefer the men’s version, Spicebomb. That one, I really, really liked! I would have gotten it during the Sephora VIB sale except that I had recently gotten D&G’s The One for Men which is similar in many respects. Enjoy sniffing away, Miss J! I hope your survive Christmas shopping unscathed. LOL
I really loved Spicebomb, too…on the paper in the catalogue, at least, lol. I should be at Sephora later, but if I come across it, I’m getting a sample! I have a really hard time not buying several men’s scents; I always seem to gravitate to them. Giorgio Armani Armani Code and Polo Black are two that I’m very fond of wearing.
I’m not sure what I would do without my Mellan fixes! I will say this again, you and he are both lucky that I’m not close enough to dog-nap him!
Haul: Nothing. I was very good this week. Actually, wait, I did buy another Tarina Tarintino eyeliner. But, still, I was VERY good!!
Weekend plans: Write about perfume. LOL. And maybe do a review of the Hermès’ Elixir de Merveilles EDP.
What’s your creative outlet? Cooking. Cooking & gastronomy are my oldest, truest and greatest loves of all. Nothing will ever surpass that for me. On second thought, maybe German shepherds…. 😉
I wish I loved cooking. So jealous!
Haul: Giorgio Armani Lip Maestros in #501 and #502. I think that was it this week!
Plans: Start researching new apartments *sigh* and try to get over this migraine that’s lasted four days so far. It’s been a crappy week.
Creative outlet: I write, hours every day. I co-write with my best friend, and we’re working on a couple projects at the moment, and I have some solo stuff in the works as well. I’ve been writing my entire life and I don’t know how to be me without it. True story – I was once on Wellbutrin for depression/anxiety, and it had the side effect of blocking my writing. I could see the ideas, I just couldn’t get them down on paper. It was so distressing to me that I took myself off it without my doctor’s knowledge just so I could write again! (I don’t recommend doing that, btw.)
I forgot a couple things – Caudalie Divine Oil (which smells divine!), ExfoliKate bigger size, Bare Minerals The Love Affair luminizer 🙂 I used my $20 gift card from Sephora so essentially I got the oil for free.
Very interesting that a drug could cause writer’s block!
I went through a depressive period that killed my writing, and I’ve yet to really recover my momentum since then. Considering it was a major cornerstone of my teen years into my early twenties, it makes me really sad to go back and look at how much I used to produce. So I feel ya, girl. 🙁
Haul: Nothing, sadly. 🙁 I tried all of the Chanel counters looking for Notorious, but it’s all sold out in my area. Heck, the Nordstrom’s never even got the product in! (They did, however, have one copy of Fleur de Lotus available. I told myself I’d go back Sunday, and if it was still there, it was meant to be!)
Plans: Working, ugh. Studying for finals, ugh.
What’s your creative outlet?: I used to do a lot of writing, but that’s been considerably halted by my busy schedule. As a result, I haven’t written more than a few poems here and there in the past two years. Part of my New Years Resolution is to get back into writing regularly.
I hope you can find Notorious — or Chanel brings it back!
I think I’ll be waiting to see if it’s brought back or duped. I don’t think I quite have it in me to pay the markups ebay offers, haha. 😛
I hualed MUFE aqua ruoge lipclolor in #8 (madonna color) and Uplift #23 . Love the lip color and it doesn’t wear off .Im so happy , it last so long .
Nice haul, Lily!!
Haul: Nothing.
Weekend plans: Sleeping, meeting a friend for tea, birthday lunch tomorrow and have a good time
What’s your creative outlet?: Singing.
Happy birthday!
I bought a third Burberry quad, Dark Spice, a lip velvet in Dusty Rose Pink 307 and a single shadow in Lavender Blue.
No real plans, enjoying a peaceful weekend with my husband.
Cooking!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend, Aida!
