5 Easy Ways to Look Festive for the Season

5 Easy Ways to Look Festive for the Season

Maybe you’re heading to a party after work or you’re pressed for time, but there are still ways to incorporate these festive products with little time and effort. Thanks to reader Lisa for today’s idea!

  1. Glitter Nail Lacquer — most glitter polishes are best when used to layer over existing polish, so a quick coat of one will jazz up nails (or help make an existing manicure look fresh); pictured above is Zoya Electra
  2. Red Lipstick — most reds are long-wearing, so they’re great to add bold, festive color and will last well through parties/meals; pictured above is MAC Russian Red
  3. Glittery/Shimmer Lipgloss — my personal favorites are all within Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer range; pictured is Firefly, a very cool-toned, iridescent shade, and another favorite is Canary, which is lots and lots of gold sparkle. Alone or layered, they add instant glitz with very little work; plus, they’re easy to reapply
  4. Glitter Eyeliner — the best kind to use in a pinch is liquid, because they come with an applicator and are less prone to fall out; if you have more time, Lit Cosmetics does excellent glitter and adhesive
  5. Transformative Powders — these duochrome (sometimes tri-chrome almost!) powders can be patted on top of existing makeup to add a flash of iridescent sheen and transform your look

What’s your favorite quick and easy way to incorporate a little glitz into your look?

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

A really metallic gold shadow used on my lids or on the inner corners is something I like a lot at holidays, along with a highlighter that is a bit less ‘subtle’ than what I might normally use (achieved with the same products but a bit more liberal application).
