How do you navigate through beauty Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales?
These days, it has to be pretty compelling — like 20% or higher, free shipping, etc. I also prefer brands that release their deals ahead of time instead of holding them back until they’re live so that I can plan where and how I want to spend my money. If you’re going to be tight-lipped, then I’m likely skipping your deal unless there’s something VERY specific I’m looking to purchase from that particular brand.
Black Friday/Cyber Monday is all about the dollars and I think that it’s ridiculous that most places have announced Nov 1 what they will be offering, but other places keep it tight-lipped like it’s a state secret. To me that says that you know your deals aren’t going to be all that impressive so it’s not worth keeping your brand in mind.
I used to get really into it, but honestly the deals just aren’t there anymore. I don’t plan on purchasing anything from any name brands excepting GlamGlow if they do their B1G1 on their masks again this year. My eyes are mostly on indie polish and makeup brands because they tend to have amazing deals, amazing products, and I like the idea of supporting smaller sellers during the holiday.
I’ll keep some budget for PMG in case Mother does what she did last year, which is break out some “sold-out” sets and discounts a lot of things.
The zoeva list only needs a once-over. will check a couple of indie sites with products I have long wishlisted, and doubtless will scan the biggies and dept stores with notable cosmetics depts. I get SO SICK of the emails clogging the box, so am a major unsubscriber. Needless to say, the notifications you want don’t come either! I probably should resubscribe on Halloween, and get rid of them again on New Year’s!
Actually, a study showed that the best deals happened closer to Christmas. I forget where I found it, but it actually, makes sense. Brands are going to get more desperate the closer it gets to Christmas itself.
Also, some places, like Sephora, have already had their 20% sale.
Basically, I don’t shop Black Friday/ Cyber Monday. It generally isn’t worth it due to the craziness! There will always be other deals.
This may be the first year I focus on making a purchase during this period, otherwise in the past I haven’t waited or prepared for it. I’m trying to be better organized on beauty deals since reading sites like yours a little more.
Well, it’s usually not beauty products that wind up being my BF/CM purchases! It’s generally big ticket items that I’ve researched and scoured various sites for. Or clothing basics, too. When it is beauty related, it will be either some excellent deal on a set or a deeply slashed price on something very basic.
IKWYM. Once I got a needed tv and was at work by 7:30A, Shocked. My iPad is either dying or on last legs, but I want to get the 500 AM EX owes me first. My iPad was my major m/u machine. I’m not researched, and there are newer models coming out. So prob a no. I doubt I do much damage this year.
It would have to be a very, very good deal for me to be interested in. Probably some of the skincare deals I would be looking at. It’s not such a bigger deal here in Aus.
I usually avoid BF, CM sales like the plague. I never go to the shops on BF as the lines are just ridiculous. I don’t usually take advantage of sales as there isn’t much I want or need. I have already shopped Sephora, Beautylish, Ulta, Tom Ford, Nordstrom’s, Neiman Marcus and Saks so nothing appealing there. I do like to check out a couple of Indie brands but mostly I shop Korean and Japanese makeup during the sale. YesStyle has had a sale going now for 2 weeks and then I get an additional markdown because I am at a certain level of purchases so have already placed one order and will probably place another. Two orders ago I purchased a Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Mist and I want to get two more as backups so that will likely be my only purchase.
