OMG, where did you get the doggie UPS outfit? Ridiculously adorable!

Haul: Nothing. (Well, that’s kind of depressing.)

Weekend Plans: Visiting family, basic chores, and some Netflix binge-watching. And buying some of the non-perishable ingredients I’ll need for Thanksgiving dinner.

What Is Your Favorite Holiday? Christmas. I love everything about it except the shopping.

Jessica Avatar

Haul: I was really really really bad… sigh…

-Pat McGrath Sublime Bronze Temptation Palette (Sephora actually refunded me because the one they sent me was swatched – so this was unintentionally free)
-Pat McGrath Subliminal Dark Star Palette
-Natasha Denona Gold Palette (Sephora is sending me a new one b/c one of the shadows jumped from the palette to freedoml)
-ND Mini Lila Palette
-Stila Heaven In Hue Highlighter Palette (I really really like this. It’s tiny particle of glitter but it’s really fine and looks really flattering)
-MJB See-Quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadows in Gleam Girl & Copperazi
-Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow in Roasted Chestnuts (for a powder contour, I seem to have misplaced my Fenty contour stick)
-Hourglass Confession Refillable Lipstick Duo
-HG Confession Lipstick Refill Duo
-Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Pore Refining Face Mask
-MAC Shiny Pretty Thing Eyeshadows in Joy To & P is for Pink

***Side note: half of this was stress shopping and my therapist has said I need to return some of it but I don’t want to. It’s all so pretty.

Weekend Plans: I have to work Friday night, but after that I’m free for the rest of the weekend. My sister wants me to take gender reveal pics for her (I talked her out of a party b/c IMO those are so dumb)

Favorite Holiday: Christmas. I don’t think there was ever a chance of me not loving Christmas b/c my birthday is also super close to Christmas so it was predestined, lol.

Genevieve Avatar

To be honest Jessica, I wouldn’t be returning much… and getting that PMG Sublime Bronze for free, because of Sephora’s mistake, is actually wonderful. There are items in your list you will be using for a long time to come. And the ND Gold palette is lovely too.
Gender reveal pics are just perfect and I agree with you about the party idea – best to save that for a baby shower party when guests know the gender and can give gifts accordingly.

Tammy Avatar

What a nice haul! Hopefully you were joking about returning anything–everything you purchased meets my definition of good quality. You hardly ever hear anything about the Stila Heaven highlighters, but I once saw them on a bloggers top picks of the year. How lucky you were to get a PM palette for free! The Natasha Denona Gold Palette is stunning! (I got mine just a couple days ago.)

Mariella Avatar

Haul: I just got in from Sephora (round 2 of 20%) with the Laura Mercier Caviar E/S stick in Khaki (I have the mini set from last year but really wanted this colour). I also picked up Urban Decay’s Love Drunk Vice Lipstick (last Sunday, I think). I love the colour but absolutely HATE the matte texture…so much for “comfort matte” – they forgot to include the “un” in that descriptor!). There was a nice looking Dr. Brandt points perk set that I decided to spring for because I like the “No More Pores” primer from that company so figured I’d give this a try.

Weekend plans: tonight, dinner out with my best sis in law and then a trip to the local pottery sale and then tomorrow, the gym and my out of town friend is coming to stay. We’ll hit the fabric street in my city and then go out for dinner. Gym tomorrow morning, though – before she gets here.

Mariella Avatar

Did it again – forgot the 3rd question. My fave holiday is Thanksgiving, for sure. It’s earlier here than in the US, as it’s more of a harvest festival and it always falls around my birthday, so I’m bound to love it anyway but what I really like is that it’s all the fun, food, family and festivities of Xmas without all the obscene and stressful overspending!

Genevieve Avatar

I wish we had Thanksgiving here in Aus because it is such a lovely tradition and far less stressful than the whole Christmas spending.
We have decided to do a Kris Kringle amongst the adults in our immediate family to cut down the spending. Providing the food is enough.

Genevieve Avatar

The Laura Merceier Caviar stick in Khaki is a beautiful shade that would suit you so well. I absolutely despise uncomfortable matte lipsticks too – can you take it back or is it a no-no like here in Aus.?
How is your brother in law doing with his strep throat? It sounds like a perfect weekend to me that you have planned – friends, family, pottery, browsing shops and dinners out. Yep – all good.
Enjoy your weekend Mariella.

Xenia Avatar

lol, Mellan is adorable.

Haul: Clinique take the day off balm, UD 24/7 eye pencil in Smoke, Lano multibalm, Julep rosehip facial oil, vanilla bean Tree Hut body scrub. I took full advantage of my Ulta point multipliers. I’m excited because I’ve finally reached 2k points, planning on finally getting the Born to Run palette with them.

Weekend plans: finishing the two books I’m currently reading, begin playing Red Dead 2 for the first time.

My favorite holiday: Halloween, because I love fall.

Tammy Avatar

Haul:

Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge (large black and white marbled sponge): I have Beautyblenders, Real Techniques Miracle sponges, and another brand of similar sponge. I didn’t think there would be anything different or better out there, but after hearing Mel Thompson rave about the Sonia Kashuk sponge, I decided to give it a try. It was immediate love. If you’ve been thinking about trying one, I say go for it.

NARS Sheena: It’s a fine nude and if you’re into nudes, you’ll probably like this. (I’d much rather pick up some of those pretty Pat McGrath Blitz Trance lipsticks!) I will see if it grows on me. If it doesn’t, I will destash to daughter or granddaughter.

Purple leopard Tweezerman Tweezers. I had to have them for the great print, and I’ve never been disappointed by Tweezerman products.

Huda Precious Stones Palettes: Amethyst for me, Emerald for my daughter, and Topaz for my granddaughter. These are fun little palettes for the holidays!

UD Naked Cherry: My daughter wanted this one and I couldn’t resist when Ulta had a 500 point perk with the purchase of this palette, plus 20% off.

Buxom Va Va Plump Lipstick in Wine Me: The color and quality are good.

Benefit 24 hour brow setting gel: I don’t usus use brow gel but thought I’d give it a try.

NYX Burnt Sienna Eye pencil: The quality is decent and the color is perfect.

Update on last week’s Sephora Haul: I love the Hourglass Edit Unlocked Palette and the La Mer powder brush. The Charlotte Tilbury Genius Magic Powder is probably going back: it smells horrible and my skin gets too shiny within 2-3 hours of application. Tatcha the Pearl Tinted Eye Treatment: still trying to figure out best application method.

Weekend plans: Indoor cycling on Saturday, weights on Sunday. Thursday was my birthday and I think my husband wants me to want to go out to dinner, but I’m not really feeling it. We’re doing a
family birthday party next weekend for me and my oldest daughter: i’ll celebrate then.

Favorite holiday: I’m not really sure? If there was a stay-in-bed-all-day holiday, I’d like that! Christmas and Thanksgiving are of course lovely, but I also love summer holidays with sunshine and cookouts.

I am curious: What’s everyone picking up at the Beautylish sale?

For those of you that purchased the new Pat McGrath palettes, what are your thoughts?

Jessica Avatar

Happy Birthday! For the Tatcha Tinted Eye Cream, use your fingers. Plus a little goes a very long way. I’ve had mine for months and I am still getting product from the cap of the bottle. I use it both alone and under concealer and I like it a lot.

kjh Avatar

The three Sonia G brushes that Christine rec’d despite feeling a tad grumpy about another white bristled brush that won’t stay white, the KGD cushion, (a first,) and the KGD powder foundation. Their aqua is my HG, (not sure now, they reformulated it) though such a narrow shade range makes me think that Japan in some ways is still the way it was, before Perry arrived (1853.). Don’t get the idea I really know history…had to look it up!

Jessica Avatar

I forgot to reply about the Pat McGrath palettes, so far I’ve only used the Dark Star palette but I really like it. The gray is amazing. It is the best gray in my collection and probably the star of the palette given how difficult it can be to formulate grays. The black is more a soft black, which makes it easy to work with. The metallics are her signature formula, so they’re amazing. I needed a damp brush for Interstellar (blue) shadow but I generally always use a damp brush for these kinds of shadows. I hope that helped.

kjh Avatar

A good gray? Good thing i’ve never seen any Pat in person. Your comment is so true. The recent mjb singles: the only really poor performer is the gray. That holds true, pretty much. When a gray gets a B, it’s a red letter day, and I look for it. Why is it easier to do gray l/s than e/s?

Tammy Avatar

Thank you, Jessica. I decided today I am keeping all three palettes (I had them on the table, still in the box, ready to ship back). I wasn’t initially inspired by the looks I was seeing on Youtube and instagram, but this week I started seeing better looks. Pat McGrath’s 10% off and three-palette bundle basically added up to all three palettes for the price of two, so I also saved a little $$$.

Janice Avatar

Happy Birthday Tammy! I’m eyeing those PM Blitz lipsticks too. And, also one of her smaller palettes with the emerald green in it. But, I don’t know.
I’m loving the CT Stars in your Eyes palette. So beautiful, gosh some of the nicest blending mattes ever, & I have tried a lot of eyeshadows! The hourglass Edit is still out of stock. Want to pick up a mini of Armani 6.5 LS. The 5.75 is too light for me now.
Enjoy your goodies & birthday!

Tammy Avatar

Thank you, Janice!

I wonder if Beautylish has the Hourglass palette? They are doing their $20 gift card event, where you get a $20 gift card for every $100 you spend. They stock Charlotte Tilbury too. I really want the Hourglass double-ended brush, as it seems the smaller side is the perfect size for these holiday palettes.

I am glad you are enjoying the Stars In Your Eyes palette. I was betting it would look fantastic on you.

Deborah S. Avatar

I think you and I both won the haul challenge!! I picked up the Charlotte Tilbury Genius powder and it will be going right back if it smells as you mentioned. I am a powder junkie so I have many and don’t need one that smells. I am curious to hear how the Tatcha eye cream works for you as I picked it up also. It hasn’t arrived yet and I himed and hawed about it before purchasing because although I think it sounded like it would work well for my darkness and dryness, I wasn’t sure how it would work with my big bags. Not sure highlighting under eye bags is a good look! Will have to watch for suggestions on how to use and go from there.
Now that I have my Mothership V and the three holiday palettes I am liking the holiday ones more than I did initially. I am trying to challenge myself to do more looks with them and the quality of the shadows was never in question. It was a lot more about whether I would actually use some of the colours and whether the cost versus usage would be a benefit. Every time I use her products I am reminded how easy they are to use.
Still haven’t picked up the Huda palettes and probably won’t. I have been thinking about her New Nudes palette, or as I like to call it, The New Nudies. My daughter corrects me each time I say it and now I just do it to get a rise out of her, LOL!! I like the shadow shades in the palette quite a bit but would like to see in person so holding off until I go to Seattle for a concert, (my daughter is seeing 21 Pilots in Tacoma and I might go with her. She purchased 2 tickets as she and a friend were going to go and then the friend could’t swing the trip. She paid my daughter back for the ticket so we essentially have a free one. I am not sure about seeing this group as I only know the songs my daughter has been playing and sometimes live concerts get my migraines going.) Anyway, hoping that they have it in store in Seattle so I can take a look at the shades.
Let me know what you think of the UD Naked Cherry palette. I have been talking myself out of it for quite a while and yet, it is pretty. I was all set to buy the Charlotte Tilbury Cranberry palette and then saw the Persona Pink palette and decided to go that route as I have liked the Persona eye shadow formula better than CT.
Hope you have a nice evening with your family to celebrate your birthday and Happy Birthday, again!!

Tammy Avatar

Deborah,

Is the challenge related to number of products we hauled? I placed two more orders with Sephora (yesterday and today), one with Beautylish, and one with Jordan Samuel. I will probably place one more order with Sephora before the weekend is over, and maybe one later today with Ulta. The hauling isn’t over yet, lol!

I decided yesterday morning I am keeping the three Pat McGrath palettes. I just opened them this morning. It wasn’t a question of quality for me either, just whether or not I would use the colors. I have been almost entirely using Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona shadows for the past two months, and the quality is such that palettes that would have tempted me no longer catch my eye. I went to Ulta yesterday to check out all the big palettes of fall and holiday on my way home from work yesterday (my goal was to pick one out for my granddaughter), and I ended up being walking out with nothing because the shadows seemed so cheap by comparison.

I used the Huda Amethyst palette on my eyes for my birthday on Thursday. A year ago I would have loved this palette, but again, Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona have set the bar higher for me.

I am giving the Naked Cherry palette to my daughter, Lea, as she was interested in it. I will not be using the palette, but I will let you know what she thinks.

Tracey E. Avatar

Happy Birthday, Tammy! Wishing you good health, good times, and blessings in abundance this coming year. (And, of course, strength to support those facing their own daunting challenges.)

Erin Avatar

Haul: Not much, my Sephora order just showed up. I did get some get a few unexpected minis from my Anthro order though. I also started picking up Christmas decor. I’ve really enjoyed the Youth to the People Kale moisturizer. My Ziip is working fabulously, better than I could have imagined! Even after just a few uses, my pores are sooo small they don’t even look like mine. It’s also having a positive impact on my hooded eyes, nasal labial folds, active acne, and some odd cell growth. Skin looks firmer everywhere and I swear I have less of a double chin. My husband said that I look better all around, possibly younger than when we met. So that’s at least an 11-year difference.

Weekend: One of my dearest friends is coming to visit due to work so he’ll be here for two evenings. I’ve got to plan my makeup! Other than that I’m not sure what I’d like to do but I think I might go to the Japanese gardens or something.

Favorite holiday: Christmas for sure!

Deborah S. Avatar

I think it is similar to the NuFace in that it is a tool that uses nano particles to create a current between the device and your skin. I know about the NuFace and have not purchased it because it seemed like it took quite a long time to work, as in 8 months to a year and I wasn’t sure if I would stick to it that long. Also, the NuFace has to be used daily to maintain the gains and if you stop using it you lose whatever gain you have made. I needed to be really sure I would use it and so far, not sure. I am excited to hear that Erin is getting such quick and good results. I hope you keep us posted, Erin. I am with Nancy, my skin needs all the help it can get and I am relatively new to the skin care game. I am 64 and only really started using skin care consistently about 3 years ago and then nothing to harsh as I was chicken. Now, I will almost try anything!!

kjh Avatar

No offfense meant, my dear, but Erin is YOUNG. We aren’t, and i’ve got 6 on you. One of the reasons you weren’t into s/c earlier is because it did not work, BITD. Science and tech had not evolved it yet. Your skin is beautiful, so you are doing s.t. right (and have good genes for it.) I’d give the ziip a shot, but have to get the derm/rheum concerns under control. I can’t even use ahas or aloe now. Trying Tula (probiotic s/c) 2 products, and in a few months a couple of Volitions. One for eye, the other an essence or lighter texture. I believe your gut is your second brain, and do well with probiotics. Skin has always been a remedial exercise for me.

Mellan’s costume is too cute!

Haul:

*Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid to Matte Lipstick in Nightmare.

*Darling Girl Cosmetics — When You’re an Addams Full Size Eyeshadow Set and Mon Cher Pucker Paint.

*Besame — Snow White Keep Singing Palette is supposed to arrive today. I got it for $10 with their coupon. Unfortunately, the With a Smile and a Song Palette was sold out.

Weekend plans: Take down Halloween decorations. Laundry, shopping, etc. as usual.

What is your favorite holiday?: Christmas, because I love the lights and decorations. Halloween is a close second, though.

Sandy Avatar

Haul: I got a blitztrance lipstick, some Caudalie serum for when I finish the Truth serum, the Princess Colourpop palette, and the Dark Star palette. And some Christmas gifts!

Weekend plans: Nothing, I hope. I’m wiped out from the week and last weekend!

What is your favorite holiday? Christmas for sure! I love seeing family and everything smells good and is so festive!

And your dog is absolutely precious in that costume! Cutie!

Nancy T Avatar

Oh, the crazy coincidence! The UPS dude just brought the first half of my haul about 2 minutes ago, too bad he wasn’t as cute as the Mellan version!

Haul: Literally just received the order I placed during the first half of Rouge sale! I’m so excited to use these: Nars Hot Tryst Cheek Palette and Pat McGrath Sublime Bronze Temptation MTHRSHP Palette. Plus, I just bought China Glaze TTYL Holographic nail lacquer yesterday at Sally’s when I picked up my root t/u demi color. On top of the above mentioned, I did place a 2nd order today with S for 2 PMG BlitzTrance lipsticks in Flesh Fatale and Rebel Red. I believe both will work wonderfully with the 2 PMG Bronze palettes I’ve recently acquired!

Weekend plans: Not much. I think I may be coming down with something, but hoping it’s only allergies. The one good update to last week’s FFHF that I posted is that my GI Doc did have the peer-to-peer consult with my insurance appointed Doc. He fought for me to continue receiving Remicade. They agreed to allow me to continue receiving it, but with some potentially dangerous conditions placed on it. Every 8 weeks instead of every 6 weeks, but at TWICE the dosage! From 5 MG. to 10 MG. Pretty sure that Deborah S. and other trained medical professionals know what can result from such a high dosage! I will admit to being quite afraid of going through losing my hair again, potential for an exacerbation of pre-existing NAFLD and mild diastolic heart failure. Other than waiting for my appointment call, probably just doing my roots and nails. Gotta stop being so lazy about doing those.

Deborah S. Avatar

I have to tell you, insurance agencies really tick me off sometimes. If something is working for you they should not be able to change the parameters. Yes, I understand the potential for more serious side effects with the higher dosage and none of the side effects are at all pleasant. I am so hoping and praying that you are able to tolerate the higher dosage and without all of the side effects. I am sure you are aware of them so I won’t scare you any more than you potentially are anyway. Battling a chronic illness takes so much out of you and has the potential for severe depression so make sure you plan and make time for yourself. If there is anything I can do to help you Nancy, please let me know.

Nancy T Avatar

Rachel and Deborah, what these insurance companies are putting those already seriously ill through is just plain criminal, if you ask me! And it’s getting worse and worse. The side effects at the higher dose are pretty terrifying. Last night, I had to call my son and let him know that, yes, mom’s getting her Remicade, but there’s a bit of a hitch. Having to tell him how quickly or badly things could potentially go south with this broke my heart a little bit. This is never a good time of year for him anyway. Skyler passed on Nov. 6, 2008, so yeah. If all goes well tomorrow with this crazy dosing (10 MG ?) , I’m hitting the Fashion Square afterwards and getting myself a fancy Starbucks coffee and checking out a few fragrances in Sephora or somewhere there, just to unwind and decompress. Keeping my Ventolin inhaler right on the hospital table tomorrow!

Tammy Avatar

Isn’t the packaging on Hot Tryst so nice? If I were a collector, I would have made the NARS Holiday collection my number one purchase this year. And from what I’ve read, the quality is just as good as the packaging. I really wanted one of the eye shadow palettes, but decided to go with Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona instead.

I ordered the Blitz Trance in Rebel Red this morning. I agree with you, this one and Flesh Fatale will go very well with the Pat McGrath palettes.

Do you have to take the medications at the dosage your insurance is prescribing? Would they know if you cut the dose in half? Or maybe this is an injection. It makes absolutely no sense that an insurance company–not the treating doctor–gets to mandate your dosage.

I hope you enjoy your coffee today and find a lovely fragrance. I am having a great deal of difficulty not buying the Chanel Venice, which I smelled in Chicago a few weeks ago and have been wanting ever since. I have a good sample and I wear it a couple days a week. The problem is, it’s a cologne and the staying power is poor. I do not want to spend $130 on a fragrance that wears off at lunch time.

Nancy T Avatar

Yes, it is just as gorgeous in person as it appears to be in reviews, Tammy! Think I will have to use it today. Still lemming the Provacateur palette myself, but just received the Bronze Temptation palette, so Idk.

Yeah, I also find it disturbing and infuriating that this seems to be the ultimately unhealthy direction that “health care” in the US is heading. People are dying behind these arbitrary insurance mandates.

I’m hoping to get the Mocha Mint Latte in Vento size, Tammy! I definitely understand your thinking on a $130 cologne, not parfum, for real!

Genevieve Avatar

Hi Nancy
Well your situation has taken a very different turn – it really isn’t up to the Insurance companies to decide your dosage, it’s your Doc. I am supporting Tammy’s point of view – could you take the lower dose and not say? Make it between you and your doctor?
I hope the side effects are not too extreme for you and do not affect your other medical conditions. No one likes to lose their hair either.
I hope your new purchases cheer you up and you enjoy that Starbucks coffee. I will be praying for you. Take care, good friend.

Haul/Rediscoveries: Last week I caved and got the Friendcation palette, MAC Whirl (repurchase), then today I used my Sephora coupon to ge the Bite Agave Mask set (mostly for the Candy Cane version), Charlotte Tilbury Super Cindy and then got some skincare. PTR Pumpkin Enzyme, Sol De Janeirio Shower Gel (repurchase) and then the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra for my mom for Christmas.
Weekend plans: Sleeping! Tomorrow is my first day off since October 12th or 13th.
What is your favorite holiday?: Thanksgiving! The one holiday I can see all my family and get to eat.

Denise S. Avatar

Ha Ha Mellan looks too cute!! What a great doggy costume!

Haul: Sephora VIB ordered Huda New Nude palette, Drunk Elephant skin care duo, a couple of the Bite lip mask that were on sale and a Z palette . Beautylish Sonia G Worker 2, Crease 1, Face 2 and Sculpt 3 brushes, Parian Spirit brush cleaning system ( after I saw comments on here about how good it is) Farmacy makeup remover . I used the Temptalia links for these orders so I hope you get credit!

Weekend Plans: Take down the few Halloween decorations. Return some items to Nordstrom, Finish watching The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix.

What is your favorite holiday? When I was young it was Halloween. But Christmas is my favorite now. I love the spirit of giving and goodwill. The food , decorations and family events are so much fun!!

Haul/Rediscoveries: CCO haul: Extra 50% off – Bobbi Brown: Uber Beige Pot Rouge, Sparkle Stick in Molten Bronze, Cream Shadow Sticks in Bark and Violet Plum, Luxe Eyeshadow in Sun Flare; MAC: Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade, 141S brush (gift), GlamGlow GlamPowder highlighters (gift); Bumble and Bumble Seaweed Shampoo and Conditioner; Extra 30% off – Tom Ford: Inhibition Cheek Color, Private Shadows in Body Double and Warm Leatherette.

Weekend Plans: My mother-in-law is visiting, so looking forward to continued family time and enjoying the city. I’ve also developed a terrible head cold, so hoping a good dose of medicine, water, and sleep will keep others from getting my cold.

Favourite holiday: Christmas, particularly the weeks leading up to Christmas Day.I love the carols and decorations and having time to enjoy it. It seems to disappear so quickly after Dec 25. I especially enjoy the peace and quiet that Christmas Day brings: few cars on the road, stores closed, the stillness of the neighbourhood. Both fathers in our family passed away in the month of December, so it also comes with sadness for those whose presence is acutely missed.

Genevieve Avatar

How gorgeous is Mellon!

Haul/Rediscoveries: I have ordered the Brick, Chocolatier and Cinnamon lipsticks from ColourPop as soon as I saw them before they ran out. These are my kind of shades.
This week I rediscovered my old Lancome Jade Fever palette and was reminded once again about how beautiful it is and how pigmented the shades are. For those who love greens, this is a great one.

Weekend Plans: Friday, we had Lachlan over (our two year old grandson) and we visited the updated park behind our house – which is great.
Saturday – going for a drive around the countryside and lunch at a good hotel.
Sunday – shopping and ironing is on the menu.

Favourite holiday time: Christmas is a good one, but so often the weather can be extremely hot – which is off putting for me trying to get everything ready.
I really love Easter – April is my favourite month because it is autumn and the weather is much cooler.

Genevieve Avatar

Jade Fever is one of the best in that particular range from Lancome and their eyeshadows haven’t been the same since.
Yep, I thought of me too when I saw those lipsticks! I can tell you I was onto to their website quicker than a flash.
Christmas is not only in summer, but also at the end of our year – so it’s a big whammy for parents – Christmas presents, school fees and books for the following year, holidays – nearly all of Jan is holiday time for kids and then back to school. Very expensive and very hot.
Usually we have hot meats (roast pork, lamb and some turkey nowadays) and a few roast veg, but lots and lots of salads.

CeeBee Avatar

Hi Genevieve,

I saw a new Bare Minerals eyeshadow palette in the Mecca pre-sale recently, and I immediately thought of you – I can’t remember exactly what it is called (maybe Aurora or Aurelius?) but it looked like half mauve and taupe neutrals and the other half, blue, green and pewter-y greys. Pale gold packaging, I think. Hope you can check it out.

I also ordered some more of the DB 24hr foundation, so thanks for the recommendation!

Cheers,

Chris

Haul/Rediscoveries: Not all products have arrived.

Dream Dots for my daughter. I am sure most of you have heard of this brand and there are more coming all the time but these are little patches that fit over blemishes and help to draw out the impurities and dry the blemish up quicker. They work pretty well for my daughter and also remind her not to touch her face.

YesStyle: Help My Fingers Nail Pack, Big Cover Cushion Concealer in shade 21, Last Pen Eye Liner, Rose of Versailles Face Mask Set, Time Revolution The First Treatment Mist, Pony Effects Pro Liquid Concealer in Light and Medium, Play 101 Contour Stick Duo, Lucent Star Cushion in shade 21, Milk Mask as a free gift, SugarBall Cushion Blush in Peach and Rose, LumiLayer Primer, Cream Cheek in red, The Matsuge Eye Lash Essence, Mote Liquid Eye Liner in brown, Creamy Tint Colour Balm in red and pink and Creamy Tint Squeeze Lip in red.

Amazon: MIBA Ion Calcium Cushion, MIBA Ion Calcium Face Mask, Snow Rake for my roof and burlap sacks for my roof.

Lane Bryant: 4 new sweaters. My winter clothing has been pretty pitiful so picked up a few pieces to round out what I have.

Ulta: MAC Fix *, NYX Sweet Custard Paradise Fluff Ombre Highlighter and NYX Head in the Clouds Paradise Fluff Ombre Highlighter.

Persona Cosmetics: Glow Getter Bundle 1 and Millennial Pink Bundle 1.

Beautilish: Wayne Goss #’s 19 and 20 eye brushes, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Pressed Face Powder and Charlotte Tilbury Genius Magic Powder in shade 1, VDL Lumilayer Primer and VDL Lumilayer Fresh Primer, MYKITCO mini buds, Lit Cosmetics Glitter Glue x 2, Lit glitter in Glittergasm, Sugar Free S2, Carrot Head S3, Lit Metals in Escape and Luminous, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked and Translucent Setting Powder.

Sephora: Blythe Vital Treatment Essence, Stellar Limitless Concealer, Algenist Genius Lip Collagen, Kiehl’s Vit C, Tatcha Luminous Eye Cream, Blythe Tundra Chuga, Supergoop Sunscreen Setting Powder (trying this out to replace my ColourScience Powder Sunscreen), Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Resurfacing Night Serum (trying this to replace my beloved Good Genes and if it works it is significantly cheaper), Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate and Glow, 100 point perk, Commodity Velvet scent.

Weekend Plans: We are headed to Kalispell, Montana for the annual White Village Christmas Craft Fair and to make a short trip into Glacier National Park. We go into the park at least 4-5 times per year as we love seeing the change of season’s in the park. I always end up posting a lot of pictures on my IG. It is suppose to rain like crazy over the weekend so not sure I will be out taking a ton of pictures. I am a real scenery buff and love seeing Mother Nature in all her glory. We are suppose to start getting some snow next week so want to do this before the snow really flies. Any snow we get at this time of the year will not stick around long as it is too warm but before long I will be looking at heaps of snow!!

Favorite Holiday: I am going to go with Christmas. I have so much fun picking out Christmas gifts for family and friends and of course, my daughter. A few years ago I made her an Advent Calendar. I do quite a bit of scrapbooking and crafting and using Christmas scrapbooking paper I made 3″ x 3″ boxes with doors that I stacked into the shape of a Christmas Tree placed on top of an oval box that I also decorated. Each year I fill each box with a gift and she loves this tradition. Anything that is too big to go in the boxes goes into the oval box on bottom and is wrapped like a present so that she can’t see any of the other gifts in that area. In the box I put a note to check below and the gifts below are numbered also. It is fun for both of us although this year I have been playing with the idea of hanging them on the tree so I would need to make boxes that fit the sized of the gifts. I love looking at homes decorated for the holidays. The smell of the pines and cinnamon always make me happy. I always host Christmas dinner so my whole family, minus my sister who spends her holiday with her children, comes to my house and I know it sounds like double work but I cook double the food and send my brother and nephew home with everything they had for dinner and then I do the same on a much smaller scale for my mom. You are cooking anyway so how much harder is it to double the recipe, LOL!!

I can spend hours cruising YesStyle and StyleKorean. Mostly that is because I can’t figure out what some of the products are suppose to do as Google Translate is not very accurate, LOL. Thank you so much for the lovely compliment on my skin. I, like most of us, only see the flaws and have to remind myself that I could have much worse issues.

Deborah,

I know we chatted about Gothamista’s recent video of recommended products and can see you got quite a few (or all?) of them, lol. A couple of them are definitely on my wish list, especially the Algenist Lip Collagen, Blythe Tundra Chuga, and YTP Hydrate and Glow. I told you I usually restrict myself to 2-3 new products at a time, and I you thought I was referring to me being careful about managing skin reactions. Actually, what I meant was, I am making myself use my current products. I’m not allowed to buy another moisturizer, serum, acid, sunscreen, or whatever until I finish one. If I did this with makeup I don’t think I would ever buy another color cosmetic product again, haha.

I got the Wayne Goss Eye set, which includes the #19 and #20. I was just going to get the #19 this month, but then the gift card event happened and I put the whole set in my cart. Lit Glitters are so amazing, and the holidays are the best time to rock those glitter looks! I hope the Charlotte Tilbury Genius Magic powder works better for you than it did for me. I had such high hopes.

Wow, your advent calendar idea sounds so creative and fun. I bet you and your daughter love this tradition.

Hi Tammy,
I came home from Europe with no skin care left except the one tube of Nuxe Reve de Miel Moisturizer which I love but is a pain to get in the U.S. as there isn’t a brick and mortar store that stocks it anymore. So, I thought it was a great time to try some new things and there were several categories of products that I don’t usually use on a daily basis. I tried to go through and pick one from each category. Several products that I purchased to replace products I do us, ie Sunday Riley Good Genes, the recommendation from Renee was much cheaper so thought it was a good time to try them out. I have to admit, I have always ended up going back to Good Genes and that with the Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol Eye gel are my longest used products.

The Wayne Goss brushes I have are really nice. The two I got were repeat purchases for me so that I have more than one of each!

How kind and loving you are to your family Deborah. You think of everyone and that Advent Calendar you made for your daughter sounds absolutely perfect.
I love Christmas Craft fairs, I think they are the best thing ever to find some original decorations for the tree or the home, as well as some small homemade gifts for others. Enjoy your visit. I am a big nature scenery person too and I love visiting the various mountain districts we have near to our place. However, our mountains are only little hills compared to the ones you have near to you.

That Mellan costume is beyond perfect, on all counts. Funny, and beyond apropos. Haul: mentioned much of the stuff elsewhere. Also: used the Sephora GC for Phlur Greylocke and Commodity Bois. Ulta: the Lorac holiday palette. Not used yet. Very disappointed with the direction Lorac is taking under Markwins. For Nyx extra points: paradise fluff palette. It’ll complement paradise fallen, but way overpackaged in a tin box, with graphics that make me feel….old. Brooklyn thorn liquid suede: wanted to try the formula. It’s easy and comfortable, but I hardly needed another browny greige that pulls purple on me. S sale: the biggest traincase, the Volitions. Jet: how it seems to work: you order from that central location, but the products may come from different stockists, anywhere. Jet is like a clearinghouse. It is a good place to find d/c’d stuff, but prices can be higher than retail on more current product. HL: Muse’s banner is a good place for a quick check on what is currently featured. Got some of the BB tres cher e/s that Christine rated highly, at less than half. (Iirc, they were 38$ singles) emerald and blue. Tracking all this has been a challenge. Plans: work tonight, thankfully not last night, as all systems were very off, and left day job early. I used my oven! Still not sure why no one but the plumber who would not call me back is the only one able to do it. New water heater and boiler are planned. Neato. Holidays: are for family; I have none, and don’t really like being included as pseudo-family. As a child, Xmas was best, because it was followed by a week of skiing at Mt Tremblant. Now, every holiday means a meal I can share with my pups.

It sounds as if your place is getting repaired – I hope the oven worked well and it’s a shame about the plumber.
A lovely haul you have there and I agree with you about Lorac. It’s not the brand it once was – how many times have we thought that about brands?

Haul/Rediscoveries: Rediscovery – Nicotine Patch eyeshadow by Aromaleigh. Haul: NARS The Multiple in Orgasm (a more peachy color to round out my Fenty and Bite multipurpose cream collection), Fenty lip trio in Winter Nights, PMcG Labs Sublime Skin Highlighter trio, Milk Makeup Watermelon Brightening Serum, and a refill on Biossance 100% Squalane Oil.

Weekend plans: I have to go out to a jobsite and do some final touch-ups — I was determined to do it today, but I’m starting to feel like tomorrow. My significant other left for Japan on Thursday and is gone for just shy of three weeks, so I’m gong to make a list of tasks that would be tough to accomplish with him around (like tearing apart a closet, laying everything out over every surface I can find for review, then cleaning, dusting, and possibly painting the floor of said closet while I think about the things I’ve laid out … as one example). I want to make absolute best use of this time to do stuff that’s been hovering in the back of my mind for too long.

What is your favorite holiday?: Halloween! Partly because it’s during my favorite season, partly because it’s a casual, fun celebration that can be about pretty much anything you want it to be about (e.g.: remembering the dead, acknowledging the fear of the unknown and unknowable, appreciation for being not-dead, the freedom to be someone or something else for a day, an excuse to have lots of treats, and on and on…).

Haul: Nars Hot Tryst cheek palette, Too Faced Gingerbread Spice eyeshadow palette, Clinique moisture surge 72hr gel creme moisturizer and Skinnies sunscreen.

Weekend plans: I’m going up to a Supercars V8 racing event all weekend with my husband, his brother and his boyfriend (my brother-in-laws BF, not my husbands, LOL)…

Favourite holiday: New Zealand doesn’t really celebrate different holidays, other than Christmas/New Years – we just have a bunch of paid public holidays scattered throughout the year and the usual Valentines/Mothers Day/whatever recognition days but they are usually considered days to celebrate with those close to you and are very low key here. Like people will buy or make their sweethearts something on Valentines Day but we don’t buy presents or cards for all our friends and acquaintances and it’s not really considered a “holiday” as such… And we don’t have Independence Day or Thanksgiving, obviously… So Christmas for me, I guess!
