Done. I’m a lot better prepared for this than last w/e, what with S sale, S gift card, and U 20, all at once. I got the Parian Spirit brush cleaning set a while ago, and pretty much rec it. No dedicated cleaner i’ve tried has worked on white bristled brushes to remove the discoloration. The cup with a grid insert, to let the m/u settle to the bottom of the container works quite well.
I use the little cup with the insert still, too, haha! I only use Parian Spirit occasionally for deeper cleans on my synthetics, but it absolutely removes everything!
Thank you for the heads up! I am so excited to try out Smith Cosmetics brushes 🙂 Last year I splurged on Wayne Goss brushes and having the event really helped out.
No problem! What Smith brushes are you eyeing?
Definitely most of the ones on your A+ to B+ heehee 🙂 but specifically, I’m excited to try 256 shader, 302 lip, and 220 eye finishing (so curious about this particual brush shape!)
Done. Christine, I really need your advice re: some quality brushes as per below. I’ve come to the realization that there’s no way around it. What’s the point of having quality makeup if the right tools are missing? Based on my needs, I’ve checked your recommendations and I would appreciate if I could have your thoughts on the following:
1) A very soft and precise blush for the lower lash line/smoking the eyeliner – CHIKUHODO Z Series Z-10 Eye Shadow.
2) A soft round brush that allows for light blush/highlighter application on my small face (I don’t like fan brushes) – CHIKUHODO Z Series Z-4 Cheek/Highlight. I initially thought of Wayne Goss 14 Cheek Brush but I think it’s too thin for buffing in the blush and secondly, I’m afraid that the hair used (goat) might not be as soft as the other natural hairs. I already have Wayne Goss Air Brush but I have a bit difficulty with it for applying/buffing the blush as I prefer round brushes.
3) Small crease brush – Wayne Goss 04 Small Eye Shadow Crease Brush.
Thank you so much!
Hey Nicole!
1.) How precise are you looking? I enjoy the Z-10, but it is larger than the average pencil-style brush so you may not find it as precise as you want, though very very soft for sure. Wayne Goss Brush 05 may be more precise but is similar in hair type.
2.) You might like the Z-2 more, actually. It is a bit smaller and works well for blush and highlight – the Z-4 may feel bigger (since you mention you have a small face). It is rounder/wider than the Air Brush for sure, but the Z-4 is more traditional, dome-shaped blush brush. Alternatively, Sonia G. Face Two is excellent for replacing a rounder brush as it’s almost like a more compact buffer-style brush. However, the Face Two is dense with a flatter surface, so it can pick up product quite well, which doesn’t sound preferred, and it is also goat hair. I love Face Two for applying color to the apples and gently buffing and diffusing color gradually outward/upward.
3.) I think the 04 works well as a small crease brush. My only note is that it is blue squirrel, which is very soft, but it is better for lighter application, more diffused application, and using softer eyeshadows – goat is going to be better for creamier, denser, more silicone, or more sparkly eyeshadows, etc.
Christine, you have no idea how grateful I am for your precious advice and for taking the time to answer in detail, given that I know how busy you are with all the holiday and new releases!! I really appreciate it!
1) Yes, I need a very precise (and soft) brush. Your point well taken, therefore I’m switching to Wayne Goss Brush 05.
2) Switching to Z-2 as I need a smaller brush for my face.
3) Based on your comment, I think that Wayne Goss 04 may work for my ABH eyeshadows (three palettes + singles), Marc Jacobs Glambition and Pat McGrath.
No problem, Nicole! I hope you enjoy your new brushes! 🙂
Just added them to my cart and patiently await for tomorrow’s event to start 🙂
Will just be paying off my last Beauylish payment in time for this event ,lol . I like to buy brushes during this time. I’m eyeing a few of Sonia G brushes and maybe some skin care.
