Lush Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser is Perfect for the Morning!
LUSH Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser ($9.95 for 3.5 oz.) has been my go-to morning cleanser lately, because it’s a mild exfoliating cleanser that’s perfect for both sensitive skin and everyday use. If you’re new to Lush, this might be a little more adventurous product type than other products they offer, just because it feels very natural/organic.
It’s sort of a gummy roll of product, which you take a pea or two peas-sized dollops out of. You add a little water, then rub it between your hands until it starts to break down into almost a paste consistency. Then you apply it like your usual cleanser–gentle, circular motions. Rinse, then pat your face dry, and you’re all done. Of course, you can choose to follow up with toner and/or moisturizer if you so desire.
Angels on Bare Skin includes the following ingredients: Ground Almonds (Prunus dulcis), Glycerine, Kaolin, Water (Aqua), Lavender Oil (Lavandula hybrida), Rose Absolute (Rosa centifolia), Lavender Flowers (Lavendula hybrida), *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume. The Rose Absolute is supposed to tone, while the Lavender Oil soothes your skin. I list the ingredient list so you can see what’s in the product, but also so you can have an idea as to why this product has a shelf life of a mere three months. This is not a product to stock up on! That huge chunk of product in the photo will surely last me at least three months!
The scent of Angels on Bare Skin reminds me of going out in the woods or a field–it’s not that compost heap “natural” smell or anything, but more like the invigorating scent of nature. I don’t mind it, though I know a few are put off by the scent of this. I don’t feel this removes makeup 100% (especially not eye makeup–hello, it does have ground almonds in it, aka not going near my eyes), so I prefer to use something else in the PM or else I’ll use something else to remove makeup, then follow-up with this cleanser in the PM.
Overall, I recommend trying this product, because it’s worked well in recuperating from my silicone-based break out. It hasn’t caused any additional acne, and I believe it has helped in reducing inflammation of those stubborn pimples (thus, making them appear less red and making me feel less self-conscious!). I’ll be posting more about my favorite Lush skincare products soon!
Yay for AOBS! I used this for a year and liked it a lot. My skin is super super duper sensitive to where 99.5% of products make it feel like my face is being burned off, but this stuff doesn’t do that. Its 3 month expiration gets annoying though, which is why I’m using Korres face wash now. Looove Korres stuff. I’m still having the urge to get some more AOBS though 😛 I wish the almond chunks were smaller so it would exfoliate better.
Nice! I’m really glad this is working for you. If you have a Lush store nearby, you can get smaller amounts, I think… It’s been awhile since I’ve bought it in-store, though!
Ew, it looks like a turd. :/
haha! I agree! It is a very weird looking product! I really like the ingredients though!
It reminds me of a sliced B
LMAO I was just going to say it looks like old dried up poop and birdseed LMAO
LOL I was gonna say the same thing but I still want to try it haha
Think of it as a slice of a yule log 😉 Minty fresh yule log!
🙁
LOL, when it’s how it works that counts!
I used to love LUSH products, and I wish I still could, but…. #1 They never fail to clog my pores and make my skin a mess. #2 They all have irritants in them (for example, Lavender Oil) and #3 They are all scented with perfume!!!! 🙁
Lavender isn’t an irritant persay, it actually destroys skin cells though. It’s called cytotoxic, and I would never recommend buying something that has it in skincare.

I know you & I discussed this via Twitter, but for others reading, some things to consider:
Using certain ingredients in limited quantities is OK — the Wikipedia on Lavender oil even suggests using it for antispetic and inflammatory-reducing qualities. Slathering your face with a potentially irritating ingredient is totally different than it appearing late in an ingredient list. Plus, in this particular product, you further dilute [whatever concentration/amount is in the product] when you add water to make a paste. Then you rinse off.
It’s also important to note that everyone’s skin is different–not every skincare routine will work for you. Some swear by Lush, but others have found it makes their skin much worse, like Kella.
You know what I find so perplexing? Lush works well for SO many people–I’m always amazed at how many people go, “My skin was terrible until Lush!” But then sometimes it works in the complete reverse! A lot of time an ingredient may be irritating if used in a high quantity/potency or if you’re particularly sensitive to it.
what i do is set aside half the product and keep it in the fridge for later use, that extends the life of the product a bit.
I just started using this. How can you tell when it is going bad? Does the smell/color change?
Mine has never changed color or smell, I just trust the expiration and throw it away after three months *shrugs*
I always stretch my Herbalism until the smell changes. It doesn’t smell or look bad, just different. You’ll know.
One great tip to extend product life is by storing it in the fridge — you can store it all or you can just keep a few days’ worth in your bathroom and the rest in the fridge. Another tip is to never let water get to it; use clean fingers or even a cosmetic spatula/plastic spoon to get it.
It looks like poop!
I think it looks like a B
ok seriously….i wud love to try this but it seriously looks like a load of crap with flies on it….:-| lmao

better now? 🙂
exactly what i thought.
Aww. Am I the only one who thought it looked like a slice of B
i have been using AOBS for about 6 months now and i absolutely love it!! true, it looks like poop or whatever but it works! i used this in the morning, followed by Eau Roma Water toner and at night i use Fresh Farmacy which is another awesome LUSH product! another product thats great is Ocean Salt scrub! honestly, this stuff is like magic! i used to have little bumps on my forehead and acne scars, but after using this product for ~1 month, the bumps are gone and my skin is so smooth! i also noticed that the acne scars are getting lighter because i only need to use a thin layer of foundation and sometimes i dont need to use concealer anymore! totally awesome, im so happy with the results! i totally recommend LUSH products to everyone! =)
I’m really glad it’s been working so well for you, Wendy! Nothing is better than when your skin turns around for the better. I still need to try the Ocean Salt scrub!
AOBS is my HG morning cleanser! Am glad you like it too. 🙂
Aww, yay, more Angels On Bare Skin fans 😀
Hahaha Christine, you could really pick some other photo, I thought it’s a poo!! 😛
But back to topic, I ADORE AOBS!! Skin is sooo smooth afterwords, isn’t it?
Aww, I just thought it looked like a slice of B
I love this stuff! <3 I’ve bought this a couple times, and I also use the Herbalism cleanser every once in awhile as well. It’s the same idea, but it’s for oily skin.
How’s the Herbalism cleanser? Which do you prefer?
Ewww, looks like poo!
It’s all in the eye of the beholder, I guess!
do you use this with the clarisonic or do you only use the clarisonic in the pm?
I have, though I find it has too many bits to work as well as the Clarisonic as other cleansers.
YES!!!! I love this stuff. They recently made a lush here in Sacto Ca so about 3weeks ago I went there & got this as well as the Sea Salt exfoliator & love them both. I use this on the daily though its amazing & I have seen it improve my face.
Ohh, congrats on the Lush store! 🙂 I have to try the Ocean Salt scrub, too.
I want to try this!
You should, Marsadie!
omg i just bought this yeaterday i had no idea that you would post this up 2day..i tried it in the morning i will repost my results in a week.
Definitely let us know how it works!
i have to admit, i find this picture extremely offputting.
It’s all a matter of perception — visualize it as a slice of B
I don’t mind AOBS but I love love love Herbalism. It’s really great for my combo/acne-prone skin. I like the smell a lot more than Angels, but I will admit that it took a while to get used to it. I use Herbalism morning and night, switching out with AOBS once in a while and Coalface once a week. I also use Tea Tree Water toner and the new Vanishing Cream moisturizer. It is amazing for oily/combo skin.
I haven’t tried Herbalism, but you make me want to try it! I do like Coalface, though!
the way you described it seems like it works alot like the RareMineral’s Renew and Reveal cleanser from Bare Escentuals. maybe that would be better for the people who think it looks like poop. and it doesn’t expire like this. i use it in the morning and my face feels like a baby’s bottom
Thanks for the recommendation, Christy! 🙂
I somehow find that it looks disguising. lol. like poop? >.< How long does it last?
The shelf-life is three months, but you can usually prolong it by keeping it in the fridge and using sterile (clean) utensils to get out what you need (so you don’t contaminate it).
Everyone who says this looks like poop must have some really disgusting fecal matter. Who poops in that color, in a curly q, and with seeds all over it? Maybe saying it looks gross is OK, although I don’t see that either, it looks like the consistency of a facial mask. It definitely does not look like any poop that I have ever seen. And finally, I have used it and I do love it.
That is true, LOL. Ah, well, it’s how well it works that really matters 😉 Which it does!
I love this stuff! It does have a kind of different smell, but I like it lol! It works great! I’ve been using something else lately, but when I’m done with it, I’ll probably go back to AOBS! 🙂
Haha! I definitely don’t mind the scent — it’s not off putting like some of the organic products I’ve tried in the past that just smell like compost.
I LOVE AOBS! It got rid of my blackheads, made my skin so soft and so young looking! I love it!
So glad it worked out well for ya, Beckie 😀
My first thoughrt: “It looks like poo,” but it has spiffy ingredients!
LOL!!
I wanted to love it but I’m allergic to some of the ingredients and it gave me the biggest breakout ever 🙁
It took me over 5 months to finally get rid of the pimples.
Wow! I can’t believe it took five months to clear up 🙁
Yes – dog poo was exactly what came to mind when I saw the picture too! :faint:
AHAHAHA it looks like my dog ate some rice and made a poopie
LOL
I’m I the only one that thought this cleanser looked like poop or a cookie at first glance? O_O
LOL. I guess not!
Gosh, we’re so immature!
LOL
LOL!
