Are you incorporating your makeup skills into a Halloween look this year?
I can’t recall the last time we did anything for Halloween! I usually spend half the night trying to get Mellan not to bark at the doorbell, LOL, so it’s a no from me! I do enjoy perusing all of the cool looks that come out of the season, though.
So relate. Most years I’ve had night job, and very few kids in the ‘hood. But last year, a few adorable tots approached the door, only to flee at top speed, when Jussi started up, and Patti chimed in. They may not be guard dogs, but dachsies are the ultimate watch dogs. Jussi was baffled, but eventually threatened a horseshoe crab carapace the other day. Patti did not recognize it as a once living thing. She only gets it, if it moves. That’s what happens when the first 7 years were as a breeding bitch in a commercial kennel. I do an H look, if I have to work, but not when staying home.
Yes and no. We are going to a party. Some people dress up in costume, and some—like me—do not. But I will be using my skills to do a festive look (without being costume-y). Probably a smoky eye look, maybe a touch of of sparkle on my cheeks, and I’m thinking of using a fun lip color, like Colourpop Getty (teal).
But then again, there will be cocktails and food at the party, and I’m not sure teal lipstick works when eating and drinking are involved. Could get ugly, right? So I might go with a vampy red instead. Not sure yet.
The last time I “dressed up” for Halloween I won the award for The Laziest Costume. I wore a red baseball cap, white sweatshirt and black jeans. I was a police car.
Now my 8 yr old son is taxing my last nerve. He comes up with some amazing costume ideas, and I begin planning the most creative makeup looks for his lil face! I haul out the stage makeup (I did pro theatre makeup), brushes, sponges, etc. His response is to bellow “That tickles!!” as soon as I begin, and I end up chasing him all over the house.
It’s easier to nail jello to a tree *sigh*
As someone who would never dress up for Halloween, your “lazy costume” made me laugh out loud!
In all honesty, up until my early 30’s, I had zero idea of what exactly Halloween was celebrating. Once I did learn its origins as a pagan ritual, I never partook of it again. This said; No, I will not be doing anything makeup related to it. But, I will probably still have my makeup on, just because!
I was putting a ton of thought into a Halloween costume recently…and then I realized I will be in Europe on Halloween! Never mind! So, no. I won’t be doing anything. 🙂
Absolutely. I do a costume every year, and makeup is always a part of that. Sometimes I do makeup on my kids, too.
No, don’t celebrate Halloween. But costume balls and the like are definitely a time when artistic makeup skills can shine.
No, I haven’t done anything for Halloween since I moved to Montana as it would be pointless with no kids in the woods where I live!! Once I left grade school I really wasn’t much on Halloween.
I am not sure what I am doing this Halloween. Back in the 80’s, when I was teaching we did a big dress up day and had all kinds of fun activities for the kids – apple bobbing, art and writing stations – it was fantastic. Then it kind of died out here. Thanks to Harry Potter, it is all back in and lots of people dress up.
One semi country town/village does the whole dress up and trick/treating, in the past I have taken my grand children there all dressed up. If we are doing it again this year – then I will dress up and go. Love all that makeup anyway.
I would like to wear a costume if it were a Friday or Saturday. It’s a Wednesday this year, so I expect kid turnout to be low. It’s usually low anyway. I do have a white wig with dark roots, and some blue lipstick, and a long black broomstick skirt I could use as a witch costume, but I don’t think I’ll bother with it this year.
If I end up at a party I definitely will, but so far my plans are horror films and snacks with my bf. I am dressing as Princess Peach a couple days before for comic con and need to decide on how I’m doing my makeup for that, I’ll reuse the same costume for Halloween if i need to.
I so look forward to Halloween, so I have an excuse to do extra creative colorful, garish, or vampy looks on myself and my girls. I pretend to be a rather conservative person most of the time, but I can’t help myself at Halloween.
Lazy costume idea for you guys: I once gave a friend a black-eye (with makeup), and she wore a sweatshirt from our rival school.
