When was the last time you shopped your stash? What did you find?

I recently revisited some Natasha Denona palettes, which I enjoyed reusing! I also recently added back in Hourglass’ Diffused Light.

I have one particular drawer for makeup I’ve dismissed for one reason or another, and every now and then I’ll go through it. This week I was looking for a contour brush that I bought last year. I never use it because I don’t wear contour, but I just thought of a new use for it, and while I was looking, I found a forgotten Urban Decay mascara primer that I plan on trying this weekend.

Yesterday, I revisited my Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Vol. 1 eyeshadow palette, which I haven’t used in ages, and was really happy with it.

Now that I have a proper summer tan, which I didn’t last year, I rediscovered Urban Decay Allnighter in 4.0. The formula is easier to work with than I remember, though I still mix with moisturiser to make it work better for my dry skin (and tone down the very high coverage a little) – gives it a nice finish, matte but not dry or cakey looking.

I was going through some “put aside” stuff to see what to take on our road trip and re-discovered MAC Illusionary/Burning Ambition (the brown side of that duo is so lovely) and KvD Monarch e/s palette – such a nice, interesting one. I also finally located my tube of Guerlain Champs Elysees lipstick (those old ones in the “one hand” tubes that were a great idea that didn’t quite work). It’s still absolutely fine and such a beautiful colour!

I found the Lorac Mountain Sunset palette which I almost forgot I had, and it’s MUCH better for dark cool shades than the horrible Morphe Vault Dark Magic, which I returned to Ulta.

Sue: My Dark Magic palette is in the bag, waiting to be returned to Ulta. What a huge letdown of a palette! This was my second Morphe eyeshadow palette I tried and both were a no-go. I honestly don’t understand Morphe’s success as a brand, being that their products are ok, at best.

I love how you always encourage us to use what we have and not acquire for acquisition’s sake. Wow, do I need reminding. About a year ago , I ‘rediscovered’ Meteorites. As a new (1987) product, (yeah, you guys, powder stuff CAN last that long) I didn’t have the appreciation it warranted. Now I use it daily. Recently readded to rotation: UD Oblivion, and 4 from that first Maybelline Bold collection:Gone Greige, Coffee Addiction, Raging Raisin, and Smoking Red. What a totally superb collection that was, which would have been totally missed, if not for Ms Christine and Temptalia. Truthfully, I get more surprises in clothes and shoes stash shopping than m/u. Overstashed in all departments!

Revisited my hourglass ethereal light ambient lighting powder and was reminded what a colossal waste of money it was lol. Not a bad product, but it’s definitely glittery (even though I’ve only ever heard these touted as glowy) and it doesn’t provide the airbrushed look I was hoping for it to have. Maybe another shade would work better, but I realized why I’ve been keeping the powder at the back of one of my vanity drawers.

I don’t know that particular shade, but Dim Light has a really lovely finish, no glitter just shine.
Unfortunately, the shade is much too peachy to use all over the face for me (I’m yellow-olive and have no pink in my base), but it seems to work well most for light-medium skintones.

I’m glad I read your post, Z. I’ve had my eye on this powder for awhile, but you just talked me out of it! I was also under the impression that it would give an airbrushed look. Glittery is just not my thing. Thanks for saving me some $$$…sorry you wasted yours. Lol

Z. Avatar

It’s funny because I’ve never heard anyone else mention that they’re glittery, and it’s probably not noticeable from a normal viewing distance, but I can see it when I’m doing my makeup in my vanity mirror and I just don’t get the hype lol.

Some people love them, but I don’t think they’re for me!

I am constantly shopping my stash! To echo the sentiment of many, I am feeling uninspired by the recent influx of makeup releases and I have cut back on what I purchase.
I am making steady progress in my own personal “finish 18 (products) in 2018” project pan, and i recently finished a delux size Becca highlighter in Opal (don’t kid yourself, with daily use, this has taken since January so I am feeling mighty accomplished!) I now have “rediscovered” the ABH Amrezy highlighter and it is breathtakingly beautiful.

I shop my stash everyday! I love shopping my stash to the point where I’ve put on the breaks with purchases because I seriously have so many wonderful products. In the past three days I have used Tom ford’s Cocoa Mirage, Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye Palette (I’ve actually used this a lot this summer, and I’m still surprised every time how much I like this palette), Chanel Affresco 9 Pan eyeshadow palette, Narsisist Dual Intensity Blush Palette (one of my all-time summer favorites), MAC Flamingo Park blush in This Could Be Fun, Pretty Vulgar Lilac Lust highlighter, MAC Make Me Gorgeous lipstick, Bite Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Violet, and all my Dior Addict Lacquer Sticks (Sassy, L.A. Pink, and Turn Me Dior).

I am especially glad I have cut back on lipstick purchases. My Dior Addict Laquer Sticks were getting neglected and not using these beauties would be a real tragedy! Right now I am loving Turn Me Dior and have made it the focus of my makeup looks.

Genevieve, Everytime I use the blue or green in Affresco, I cannot believe I am using a Chanel eyeshadow. The pigmentation is so strong I have to use an easy hand when applying.

I shopped my stash last weekend and pulled out my ABH self made palette. man I forgot how much I loved this palette. I have been using it all week and have been getting some gorgeous looks. I feel like this palette did not get the love it deserved from the beauty community.

I decided to participate in a project pan for the first time Monday and shopped my stash for products I like or love and that I neglected lately.

I took out my UD glitter liners in midnight cowboy. Such a lovely and easy glitter to use. I put some on my hand and pat it on my lid… So pretty!

UD rapture blush… With fall coming I will make sure to use the one plum blush I have and what a wonderful formula.

Mufe artist volume 1 (the neutral one) the shine of the shimmers is to die for. I forgot how flattering and long lasting it is on me. Pat McGrath level! I will make sure to use them more.

Revlon matte crayons. I pulled 3 shades out of my stash to play with. I mostly plan to mix them with other lip products!

Tammy Avatar

Yes! I recently used my MUFE Volume One palette and made the same assessment: just as good (and some a little better) than Pat McGrath. To think we had the Cadillac of eyeshadows and now they are gone?

Marie-Estelle Avatar

Exactly! I luckily have a good selection of shades in singles and 2 small palettes. I sometimes regret not picking the other artist volumes #2 and #3 when they were heavily discounted. Have I known they would discontinue the formula… Let’s make sure to use them! ?

When I did that green based look I described in the “Week In Review” about a week ago? I think it was a week, anyway. For that look, I DID shop my stash! Revisiting ABH Subculture, plus a few ColourPop pressed e/s singles, I wound up with one of the prettiest, most complimented eye looks I have done in a long while. ? This is something I need to do more often, I think!

I have been whole house purging one room or one drawer at a time. As soon as I finish the bedrooms, I will statt mu makeup room. Since my kids have moved out, cleaning the bedrooms was making come and get it piles. I’ve been able to donate so much too.
The most fun was sorting handbags and sending my girls home with arms full.

I am always shopping my stash and having started using the bareMinerals Playlist palette – for some reason I thought it was too bright, but no it is beautiful.
For lipsticks I have started reusing my Milani Statement lipsticks in Candied Toffee and Bronze Beauty. They are stellar too.

Violet Wyne Avatar

I pulled out NYX contour kit and Makeup geek X Kathleen lights highlight palette again this week and I forgot how good they are. I need to shop my stash again for my eye shadow palettes too because I keep buying new ones and neglect my old ones.

Sarah Avatar

I’ve been using the Nyx Birthday palette a lot this week, and I’ve gotten some pretty fun looks out of it! Some of the shades are good and some are finicky, but it’s pretty solid overall.

Holly Avatar

I recently depotted my favorite matte/low shimmer shades from the Naked and Naked Basics palette and replaced the shades I don’t use in the Naked Ultimate Basics palette. Now I reach for my custom Ultimate Basics palette more frequently. For a super quick look it’s The Kristen Leanne Daydream Palette. Although I’m thinking about removing one of the light browns and popping in Paradox, Baja, or a light Duochrome.

I’ve found that Zpalettes are helpful, but I use my favorite shadows more if they are in attractive palettes with cardboard or something keeping them evenly spaced.

Monica Avatar

I recently decluttered my stash and re-discovered two blushes: Mac Sweet as Cocoa and Mac Gingerly. I used to wear these a lot but for some reason had stop reaching for them, but they are lovely and go with pretty much any look!

In May. My mom was in the hospital for nearly a month before she passed away, and I was just going for super-easy, neutral makeup. I rediscovered my Ulta brand Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette, and Too Faced Melted in Nude and Fig. I disliked Nude on me when I had darker, auburn hair, but I really like it on me with the brighter, more magenta red hair I have now.
