Cult Nails Manipulative Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

Cult Nails Manipulative Nail Lacquer

Cult Nails Manipulative Nail Lacquer ($10.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “opaque pale blue with a hint of green” with a cream finish and subtle shimmer. It’s a dusty aqua blue with bluish-white shimmer. It really does hide in certain light, but with enough light, the shimmer is noticeable. OCC Pool Boy is similar but brighter, more vibrant. Nubar Blue Hydrangea is bluer. It’s actually really cool to see Cult Nails put out shades that I haven’t seen on the market–it just seems more often than not they’re creating a shade that meets an unmet need (though I certainly haven’t seen every shade by every brand ever made, so there may be closer dupes out there).

It’s opaque in two coats, and the formula was absolutely flawless–not too thick or too thin, flowed fluidly across the nail, no drag, pull, or pooling to the edges. Cult Nails’ formulas tend to wear a full week on me with no chipping and very minor tip wear.  It’s a gorgeous color for summer; would look really lovely on toes for those days at the beach or at the swimming pool (I have a thing for aqua/blue-polished toes against a blue pool).

For Audrey isn’t really close at all. I was think more Kinetic Candy, or maybe Cinderella from Sinful Colors. I could match the color pretty closely, but that blue shimmer is of godlike proportions.

I like the yhint of sparkle in the color. I have to say, though – about the Packaging – Enough of the Scriptina Font already!

I envy those people who can wear nail polishes in all shades of rainbow. This one for example looks so good on you! I am stuck with this option

Definitely picking this up… been searching for something like this color at an affordable price but every time I check at Target or somewhere else, there’s nothing that I like. Gorgeous summer color!

Really love this one. I agree, it’s not quite like anything I have – close but not there. However it looks like something Essie would have created at some point – but their archives are not open for folks to look – esp since it’s now owned by L’Oreal – they did not get all the historical records – it was not in the ‘deal.’ Funny that you posted this today…I have for a week now, been looking for a semi sheer blue in this range since I am in love with the new OPI sheers (Ballet collection) and it did not contain a blue – they did the gray instead I am sure which was smart as few gray sheers ever have been made. I am having so much fun sandwiching with sheers that I want a sheer blue…however I think I will be using a one coat of a lighter blue, apply my ‘jelly’ part, then top with the white in the OPI Ballet set – Don’t Touch My Tutu – or Essie Marshmallow works too a lot of the time.
