Do you like when beauty products come with suggested looks? Or uses? Do you actually use them? Do you read them?
I glance at them, but I don’t think I’ve ever really followed one! They’re cute, and I doubt I’m paying much for it, it’s probably better to have than not.

I used to absolutely love when MAC would have face charts of various looks when new collections would release. Do they even do this anymore? I don’t ever seem to see that when I’m on the site. Those were so fun to look through, and I sometimes recreated the looks. But things like the Too Faced Palettes that come with looks, I don’t pay attention to those. I don’t have any drugstore palettes at the moment, but I always avoided the ones that said “lid,” “crease,” and so on for the eyeshadows…I don’t know why, but it’s like an irrational annoyance to look at on the palette, LOL.
I do read suggested uses and looks. There have been uses before that I was not aware of. I don’t recreate the looks, but I have used them as guidelines.
I prefer it when beauty bloggers that I’m familiar with do an amazing look with a palette – or any other product for example. It makes it more accessible and gives a realistic idea of what it could look like on me. It helps when they have a similar style or look to me, though!
I honestly don’t even look at them.
Good question. I think it’s useful to have suggestions, there are so many ideas out there that it’s great to get other peoples thoughts.
Something you read might trigger another idea so yes, suggested looks get 10 out of 10 from me!
I usually look at it and will try it once or twice. They usually follow a pretty standard template, but sometimes you get ideas.
I do, yes. While I usually experiment with my makeup and use it the way I want, I still like to get inspiration from how others would use it.
I usually glance at them to see how the company recommends that I use their products, but I don’t usually wind up using them in the way they set out. Prime case in point: the Too Faced shadow palettes. I have never applied a single eyeshadow shade from my lashline all the way up to my browbone. I doubt I ever will. Mostly because I’d be petrified of looking like Mimi from the Drew Carey show.
I do as long as that doesn’t mean I will have to pay a higher price for the product or the packaging is more bulky to accomodate the suggested look.
I’ve just recently bought the Smashbox Softeye Palette that came with a little insert that had suggested looks, however, I love experimenting with the palette just like my Urban Decay Naked 2, which has been used and loved ever since I got it, and everyday I look forward to experimenting with different color combinations. So no, I don’t really use any of the suggested looks but it’s also nice to know that the palette is versatile for not just one look.
I like them for days I need to wear makeup.. or want to wear makeup.. and I’m really tired and uninspired… I’ll just follow the suggestions *like in the too faced palettes, or the tarte for true blood palette* and be done.. then I feel better because I have makeup on..
Yes. I like seeing suggested looks. They give me some ideas on how to use certain colors I’ve never tried before (ex: Chanel tigerlily). I don’t always follow every steps but I make some changes to fit my facial feature and taste.
I love them, and I always try them out.
