I love opaque glosses, really do! The only thing I don’t like is when I’m thinking really hard and I push my lips together in a strange way and my lipgloss is on my chin or nose or whatever.. 😛
My reply will definitely be a rave. I’m a little bit obsessed with opaque lipglosses. I think that you get better quality/more product for your money, as you can actually see what you’re putting on your lips. I like opaque lipsticks in nude and pink tones especially, as those are the hardest to find and complement dramatic eyes. Light-colored, transparent lipglosses are barely visible. My favorite opaque nude lipgloss is MAC’s Lady gaga Viva Glam #2 lipgloss, which is a very creamy, long-lasting warm nude.
I personally do not like opaque lip gloss just because I can never get it to look nice on my lips. It always ends up looking like a gloopy mess-not cute. I tend not to wear gloss for opacity anyway and use it either as a sheer wash of color or to add shine on top of a lipstick/stain.
This happens to me too–just never looks right or makes my lips look plastic-y. Give me a sheer gloss any day of the week. Layering it with lipstick is half the fun.
And we are talking about opaque lipglosses and not liquid lipsticks, right? Because I think there is a difference.
I’m actually not a fan! If I’m going for an opaque look, I prefer using lipstick (topped with gloss if I want some shine).
I prefer it. I have pigmented lips and pale skin so glosses have to be really opaque to show up on me.
Every type of gloss and lipstick has a place in my stash! I use a different type depending on the look I’m going for. One great use I have for opaque gloss is over long-wearing lipsticks for a night out. For example, I’ll wear Just Add Colour, which is an amazing bright pink lipglass (LE), over Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Perpetual Flame. It’s stunning! Or I wear the gloss alone for daytime when I want a punch of colour but a highly pigmented lipstick is just too much.
I love opaques lipsglosses for the full color coverage and because the texture is not so dry. The negative is that gloss is sometimes not as long-wearing as say a stain or lipstick might be.
Defnitely RAVE! Of all lip products that I have, the ones I cherish the most are my opaque Lipglosses. Nude, red, berry, they all perform beautifully.
I’m not the biggest fan of opaque glosses. For me, if I want opaque color I would rather go with a lipstick and top it off with a clear gloss if I’m jonesing for some shine. I prefer semi-opaque glosses that I use solely to alter the color of my lipsticks.
I love opaque gloss but I HATE when they are so glittery the glitter travels to your eyebrows, only a line of color around your lips is left after 2 Hours and when they are sooo thick they turn out patchy (cough cough Mac the wee coquette lipglass) but other wise love them!!
i just LOVE them!
i do find that the amount of shine of the opaque lipgloss is just amazing. totally not like a lipstick topped with clear lipgloss!
i love it in all colours
i particularly love Chanel rouge allure Laque and illamasqua intense lipgloss which are AMAZING
i love opaque lipgloss. it’s just that it gets a little messy when they’re bright and opaque.
I love an opaque gloss worn alone. Over lipstick, however; I prefer a sheer gloss so it won’t change the color of my lipstick.
my thoughts exactly!
I actually really like opaque lipglosses the only problem
I have with them is that I find them slightly drying .. but then again I do have very sensitive lips and I sometimes even find lip balms drying..
I’m all for opaque glosses as long as they don’t feel sticky. I honestly cannot stand that sticky feeling on my lips.
Love it! Especially for pigments lips like mine 🙂
I like opaque lipglosses because I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth (since it shows up well). The only thing I don’t like is that some tend to bleed or settle into my lip lines.
I like both sheer and opaque lipglosses, they both serve a use at various points in my make-up requirements. So, rave from this girl.x
i really dont like opaque lip glosses, i prefer ones that have a little bit of color with a nice shine to it other wise i would look like a clown. I kind of have semi huge pouty lips so bold colors make me look like i have a huge mouth..which is why (again) i would look like a clown.
I looove opaque lippies. My lips are naturally very red and sometimes life just doesn’t call time for primer! Always love an honest lip gloss!
I lean toward the opaque gloss. I rarely layer stick and gloss. I’d use up what is a small stash faster and i’d get to try things out faster when they actually come out if I started doing this.
They’re great–if they apply and wear well. Most of the time, I prefer about halfway between opaque and transparent, to completely opaque lipglosses. Just because you only really need a couple clear ones.
They need to be thick enough to not sink into every little bit of your lips. And that’s also why I prefer brush applicators on my glosses–I think it’s much easier to apply more opaque lipgloss with a brush than a doefoot.
I love opaque lip gloss in the winter because my lips are too dry to wear lipstick. NARS Larger than Life lipstick in Place Vendome is my favorite.
I hate when they smear, but they are really good if you have a date night
I enjoy them opaque because they wear nicely on their own, though I do think they have to be a quality brand to get good wear out of them as more pigmentation means more bleeding. My personal preference tends to be semi-opaque, since I usually wear it over lipstick, but opaque ones certainly give you a bang for you buck if you want a quick fix. (My biggest complain with gloss applies to every type out there – the ongoing reapplication and how easily they can smear.)
I love opaque glosses! I am always looking for brands that make them. MAC lipglass tend to have good pigmentation and so do NYX that’s why I love them both. I have highly pigmented lips, so I need great color pay off. BTW I do not see the point in buying multiple non-opaque glosses; unless you run out of the one you own, as they all will look pretty much the same on.
I love the stuff. I find gloss just tends to apply more smoothly than lipstick on me, and I love getting color payoff from it. Otherwise, there isn’t much point to gloss, in my mind.
