Milani Blue Liquif’Eye Liquid Like Automatic Propel Pencil

Milani Blue Liquif’Eye Automatic Pencil ($7.99 for 0.01 oz.) is a medium-dark navy blue with silver and blue micro-glitter. It has decent color payoff in a single pass, but it really needs to be layered in order to achieve a rich, opaque line of color. It has a slightly drier texture, though it doesn’t overly tug at the lash line when applied. The color reminded me of tokidoki Skeletro, which is slightly darker.

I tested this on the lower lash line, and while it dries down easily and seems smudge-proof when swatched on my arm, it wasn’t quite as foolproof once applied. It wore for around six hours with minor smudging, but the fading and smudging was more than noticeable after eight hours. I didn’t and wouldn’t test this on the water line due to the micro-glitter particles. It’s not the worst performing eyeliner I’ve tried, but it’s definitely not one I’d grab when there are so many high performing eyeliners on the market. For example, Milani’s Liquif’Eye Pencil formula is excellent and wears much better.

I have this in purple! It’s gorgeous, but it’s not in purple, its like a black liner with purple glitter. But it’s sooooo pretty and when I apply it, I let it set for 15 sec. It lasts me the whole school day without smudging!

Well, dang. 😀 I prefer auto pencils to the ones you have to sharpen in general, so I was hoping this line would be good – like Revlon Colorstay liners, but in Milani colors. Oh, well – at least their other pencils are good!

I am so glad you did a review on this because I was sure about to buy it! I have all of the pencil form Liquif’Eyes (which I only bought because I saw them reviewed here!) and they are really great. Thanks for the heads-up!

Just to clarify, was it the formula or this specific color that was so luckluster?

I hate pencil liners and was hoping maybe their auto-pencils would be better but i think I’ll just pick up their liquid liners instead. And/or continue to research their other products. Thanks so much for the review!

I’ve only tried this shade, so it was both. Even if the color only had poor color payoff, the formula shouldn’t have smudged, faded, etc. Smudging/fading is typically because of the formula, whereas the color payoff may be more specific to a particular shade.

I am one of the few who has not been able to enjoy the regular form of this pencil because it destroys my contacts by leaving a film all over it. Any word on if these pencils are any better for contacts??

I was confused, too. Back when I was in school, 60-69% would have been C, not D. But I guess Christine is a tough marker! And why not be tough; I think we all appreciate that she will only give top marks to great products, right? 🙂

I agree with the D+ rating. I had the green which might have been limited edition not sure. I used it once and liked it. I wanted to use it again and it was dried out and hard. I had to throw it away.

I was eyeing this in Target the other day (in green) and wanted to go back and buy it, but now I know that it’s not so great. I do have the silver pencil version and I love that one!
