How Barry M Dazzle Dusts Changed my Life – and 5 Ways to use Them
The title may sound a little melodramatic, but I always wonder whether my life would be just a little different if Barry M’s Dazzle Dusts (£4.59) hadn’t sparked my make up obsession. Would I be like the rest of my family, who can all fit their make up collection in one small, neat, fuss-free make up bag? What would I have done instead of spending hours obsessively searching for swatches on the computer? And, perhaps the most painful question of all, how much money would I have saved? Whatever the answers may be, if I could go back in time I certainly wouldn’t tell my 16-year-old self to carry on walking past the pretty, sparkly colors at the Barry M stand. I still can’t tell my 22-year-old self to keep walking either, no matter how empty my purse is!
So, in a tribute to Barry M’s Dazzle Dusts, I am going to dedicate this post to them and share five ways in which I use them!
1. Eyeshadow
There are so many colors to choose from that I can’t imagine running out of new combinations for the eyes! And despite the image that Barry M is all about bright colors–as I have come to know the brand–I’ve realized that there are quite a few subtler ones that you can easily use for everyday! In my look below, I used Dazzle Dusts in Gold Iridescent and Old Gold to create a really basic, toned down look.
2. Eyeliner
It is so easy to make any eyeliner color imaginable by using a mixing medium (I use Illamasqua Sealing Gel (£10.50)) and combining it with a Dazzle Dust. Use an eyelining brush to apply the mixture for your very own customized color of eyeliner! My favourite colors to use are bright blues or rich chocolate browns. I used the Charcoal Dazzle Dust to make the eyeliner in my look below!
3. Blusher
The Pink Gold Dazzle Dust makes for a beautiful rosy glow on my skin, as it is a peachy-pink with a lovely gold sheen–you can see it applied as a blusher in my look below. If you want a really glittery highlighter, try the Gold Iridescent Dazzle Dust!
4. Lipgloss
To make a colored lipgloss, simply take a clear lipgloss and mix it with a Dazzle Dust. There are so many pinks and reds to choose from. In my look below I used Winter Berry, which makes a gorgeous vampy shade for the lips.
5. Nail Varnish
You can use Barry M Dazzle Dusts/Fine Glitter Dusts with nail varnish to create an effect like the one shown below. I used Barry M Cyan Blue Nail Varnish (£2.99) and then blew Barry M’s Fine Glitter Dust in Silver (£4.59) over the base of the nail.

OMG, that blush looks amazing, I’ve been thinking to place and order on barrym, because I want the lip paint #52, since it’s been said it is a dupe for candy yum yum, but I didn’t want to place and order for only a lipstick, but this products are beautiful. Thank you.
Yes, the blush is gorgeous – as soon as I saw it I just had to have it! And the lip paint in 52 is a really good dupe for Candy Yum Yum, I actually did a comparison post on my blog – I can hardly tell the difference between the colour once they’re on, but did find the Barry M lip paint quite drying. But the colour is so amazing that I’d still definitely recommend it ^_^

Well, they’re dangerously addictive when they’re so readily available, so maybe that’s a good thing! Barry M do ship internationally from their website though, I just don’t know how expensive it would be…

Winter Berry is definitely one of my favourite colours, I think it’s quality is actually slightly better than other dazzle dusts for some reason! I hope you can get hold of some more, they’re so fun to play with!

Wow, thank you Cass and Melanie! It was just a really simple look, I used Gold Iridescent all over the lid, and Old Gold in my outer v, then lined with the Charcoal Dazzle Dust and Sealing Gel Mix. I’m glad you like it!
Micabella is also awesome for these, and I promote for i-candy, which is also… I just don’t know if our pigments can be nail varnishes
Yes, I’m sure that these techniques could be used with other brands of pigment too, I’ve tried some of them with Illamasqua and MAC pigments as well 🙂 It’s good because it means that there are so many colour options!

I’m 21 and I also developed a major Barry M addiction when I was 15-16!! I have a lot of these Dazzle Dusts but I have actually stopped buying them – until now! I’m going to get some of the shades you’ve suggested when I go to Boots next…can’t wait to try the blush and nail effects!

Aww, I think you can order internationally, they give an email address on their website to contact.. if not you could try ebay, it sounds like some other people have had success there!:)
You can also use Vaseline all over the lips and simply pat the dazzle dust over it 😀 I feel so silly for avoiding buying any more of these thinking they could only be used in one way! PS – if you’re not in the uk, their website ship internationally (so does sleek)!

Cute nail idea!! Never thought of trying that out!! I love Barry M too, I use the dazzle dusts with a damp brush to get super bold, incredibly pigmented eye shadow effects, for my evening make up looks. I’m not so keen on the glitter dusts though. The glitter just disappears after very little wear, and leaves a not-so-pigmented shadow behind.
