Are false eyelashes for special occasions or everyday?
Are false eyelashes for special occasions or everyday? What are your favorite styles?
They can definitely be suitable for everyday–it just simply depends on the look you’re going for! There are subtle lash styles as well as more dramatic ones, and either can be appropriate, but it has to make sense with the actual eye makeup you have on. Where you’re going may also play a role – for some, dramatic lashes in the work place may not fly!

I’m an everyday lash wearer.
Personally, I only wear them for special occasions (and even then it’s pretty rare) but some people can pull them every day. They’re too much of a hassle for me.
Yeah same for me 😀
Eh, it’s too much hassle for everyday wear. I’m too lazy to even wear them for special events. Even on my wedding I only wore corner lashes. (and this is coming from someone with pretty sad lashes)
definately for special occasions. they’re too much for everyday in my opinion (the really dramatic lashes at least). if theyre natural looking ones merely for volumizing then that’s not too bad
I rarely wear them, pretty much only for special occasions or costume parties. I do think they can be appropriate for everyday wear if they’re natural looking and depending on your job. I am wayyy too lazy for that though
Never tried ’em–I’m pretty lucky in the natural lash department, and anything longer than my natural ones would smack into my glasses, which wouldn’t be fun!
Personally I only wear them for evenings out/ special occasions. As much as I love to wear them, I don’t have a lot of time in the mornings so they would just be too much of a hassle
They’re definitely only for special occasions… make that really special occasions. I find that a good mascara is the only thing I need for lashes.
Shockingly, I’ve never worn false eyelashes. Guess it’s not too late to start though. :)))
I think lashes can definitely be for everyday! I personally only wear them on occasion, but that’s more or less because I get frustrated putting anything other than half lashes on myself. I can put em on other people no problem, but for some reason I can’t get a full strip right on myself. GRRR! Haha. I have very small eyes with small, hooded lids, so most lashes look way too long and dramatic on me for everyday. My favorite styles are half lashes, MAC #4, and MAC #32. These ones are the most natural. I also loved the MAC #35 lashes before they were discontinued. They were very dramatic on me, but I love that the drama was in the center since it helped to open and pull my eyes up making them look wider and bigger. I also like the Ardell Demi Wispies. For more flirty, feathery drama, I like the MAC #43 or the Blinking Cool! lashes. Shu Uemura Black Luxe are beautiful, but out of my price range. My other favorite thing to do with lashes is to stack a pair of short, blunt, dense lashes with more fluffy lashes. Can you all tell I LOVE me some lashes?
If I had larger eyes that didn’t get consumed by most lashes, I probably would wear them more often. The only ones I truly feel comfortable wearing on a day-to-day basis are halfies. I wear #4, #32, or #7 from MAC for more special events because they are dramatic on me whereas on other people they would be more natural.
For everyday!!
I know some falsies can be a bit overwhelming and those could be used for special occasions.
But the typical everyday ‘normal’ falsies could be pulled off everyday.
i never wore any….yet 🙂 but i like wearing a lot of eye make up in general(tho not crazy about having very big lashes, they just gotta be black and thick, it looks cute when they’re long=a ton of mascara)
What you’ve written is completely spot on, Christine, and I would only add that an example of the subtle lash styles that work for every day would be tiny clumps of 3 lashes each, called singles. Singles added at the outer edge, or middle for some, look quite natural while adding volume. They can be easier to apply as well, because you’re not having to manuever a band – just a small sprig with 3 lashes on it.
If I’m wearing circle lens, I have to wear lashes top and bottom otherwise I just look like an alien. But I don’t wear them if I’m wearing my glasses, which is maybe 1-2 times a month.
I would if I could everyday! The medical field isn’t the best place to look like barbie. I do where eye lashes on a night out and weekends.
I would LOVE to wear eyelashes everyday, however I’m terrible at putting them on. TT^TT I’m so bad at it that I rarely even wear them on special occasions… So, until I magically gain some sort of eyelash applying skill I’ll stick to my mylash mascara. ^^
I would say they are definitely for special occasions, although I have noticed a lot of people are starting to wear them everyday. I think they look a tad dramatic for everyday wear, and you can get a more natural look from lash extensions and individual semi-permanent lashes. I have a friend who wears false lashes everyday because it has become a necessity – she wore them so often she ended up losing her own.
I have long natural eyelashes, so I don’t like false ones ! When I wear ” They’re real ” from Benefit many people think I have false eyelashes, which is not the case ! Even for special occasions I won’t try this.
Special occasions only!!
I’ve worn them just because I feel like it. But I sometimes feel self conscious and I’m too cheap to wear them everyday because you can only rewear them so many times before you need to buy more. I’m partial to half lashes but I usually buy full then cut because that way it like getting 2 sets of half.
Special occasions. I normally do three coats of mascara and I think that’s quite enough!
I think demi lashes, or the little singular ones, can work great for everyday. I’ve worn a half-strip in the outer corners of my eyes to class, and it looked really nice. Half-strips are also a lot easier to apply, so you don’t have to worry about them taking up much time.
i’m way too lazy to put them on everyday anyway, which is what makes it a special occasion thing for me.
Any day that I put on makeup is a day I wear eyelashes! Everyday wear is 1 pair of standard natural looking wispies. For special occasions I will wear 2 pairs of longer flared lashes or colored / feather lashes depending on the occasion!
I’m only a sometimes wearer. I work from home and workout pretty much everyday. I’d totally sweat them off. I do wear them when I go to special events and parties, though.
I definitely think there are ones that have their place in every-day wear, but not for me. I stink at applying them, so they are for special occasions only (and usually not even then)
false extensions used to be an everyday thing for me. But my son was a year old back then, and he always fancied picking them out when I slept. hahahhaa
I wear my demi-wispies every day, I love how my eyes look with them. But I’m just a bagger at a grocery store, so they’re not very picky about what kind of makeup I wear.
if someone else put them on for me i would wear them everyday. but otherwise nope. i don’t wear them. i don’t have enough time in the morning for them and i always forget about them on special occasions.
Personally false lashes are a “never” for me. I hate them
I love natural ones for everyday, my lashes could use the help to look fuller. I actually wore them snorkeling, so anytime is a good time to wear them.
I never put on false eyelashes but I’ve gotten eyelash extensions (around $25 and they last for 2-3 weeks). They’re great for special occasions and especially vacations!
I have never worn false lashes, im pretty happy with my eyelashes since i have been using RapidLash and they grew =)
I would wear them everyday if I had the time!!! Love love love them.
It depends on the person. As for me, I have naturally long lashes, so a good coat of Falsies Mascara does the trick. But for those fun parties or events, definitely some fun dramatic lashes!
Either or! I’m at work right now rockin some false lashes just because. 🙂
I’ve never worn lashes, but I feel like if I did get the hang of them, I might wear them everyday. I relaly want to start wearing them 🙂
Special occasions or weekend out when I’m also sporting a dramatic smokey eye look. 😉
Whenever you want. I think they are totally acceptable for everyday. I never went to high school without them and that was in the 60’s! I have pale almost clear lashes and they always have been thin – age has added to that. So false lashes are my friends.
I love demi lashes or Ardell’s 108 for an everyday look. My lashes are naturally very long, but the demi lashes make them look a bit thicker and more flirty. They’re just annoying to apply, so I don’t always bother with them.
The only lashes that I want is the glitter ones by Shu Uemura….so so expensive.
Totally an every-day wearer! I have (natural) lashes that I’m totally happy with, but I wear dramatic looks and think falsies give my looks that boost I crave. However, if I’m not in the mood to apply (definitely an extra 2-3min on your routine), I just do a subtler look. But yes- every day to the max, for me! 🙂
Since we are on the topic of lashes, Christine or anyone, how long is lash glue good for? Does it go bad?
I think it’s 6 months to a year.
Thank you for the quick response! 🙂 Super appreciated!
I think they are definitely appropriate for every day if you wear a natural style. I have worn them since I was 17. I worked in banking for 35 years and just retired last year. I wore them every day. Now that I am home, I only wear them when going out. I always have a supply on hand and I always get compliments on my eyes when I wear them- I think they really add to my eye make up.
I have a question, I want to wear false eyelashes but I want to know, how do you remove them?
They glue doesn’t get hard or anything. It’s very rubbery and flexible, so you gently grab a corner and peel slowly. If you want, you can use a little makeup remover on a q-tip or a makeup towelette to help soften up the glue even more, but it shouldn’t hurt or be a problem to remove them without it. 🙂 Hope this helps.
okay thank you! I’m gonna definitely try them out then! 🙂
definately for special occasions.
I think the whole trend is ridiculous and tacky. I don’t know anyone who really takes it seriously (over the age of 19, anyway) and I’m looking forward to the day it’s over. Of course, I have very long lashes, so it’s probably easy for me to say that – but false lashes just look cheap.
False lashes aren’t a *trend* they have been around for a very, very long time & they aren’t going anywhere lol. I personally wear 2 pairs every single day. I’m a make-up artist & apply them them right so they look beautiful.
depends on the season…i wear lashes on special occassion, during the winter because of holiday parties and during the summer so I can show off my bold eye looks.
