What was the last product that really impressed you?
Natasha Denona’s Darya palette and Pat McGrath Decadence palette (both were launched around the same time). They were just exceptionally well-done!

Pat McGrath Luxetrance lipsticks
Biologique Rocherche P50 series
Ahhhh…… Confession time. I splurged and bought the Viseart Grande Pro. Didn’t need it. Should not have spent the $$ (it was on sale at Muse) Shame on me! BUT, oh my goodness, it is SO gorgeous! It’s like getting the big box of Crayola Crayons…..?
The other new items are Sunday Riley Juno oil and Drunk Elephant Protini.
Makeup: I typically use Guerlain Lingerie de Peau foundation as an additive for more coverage to my daily wear Smashbox Camera Ready water foundation. This week, while on a trip, I dropped and broke the Smashbox bottle, so have only the Guerlain foundation now. First time I’ve used it solo, and it’s amazing — great texture and coverage, not too thick, lasts all day. This shade (N01) isn’t available in the new formulation, so not sure what I’ll do when this is used up.
Skincare: Aveeno lotion for eczema — thanks to recommendations here I started using this to deal with extensive irritation around my eyes and it’s been the only thing that’s made a difference. Very soothing and healing.
EcoTools precision blush brush. I’ll probably buy another and look into their other brushes.
This morning I had a moment of pulling out a highlight I have not in a while… Fenty highlighter the lightning dust and fire crystal one. While putting the subtle one, lightning dust (?), on I was super impressed and wondered why I had forgotten about it.
Drybar Prep Rally Detangling spray. It made my hair so soft and smelling nice.
I know this is strange but – the Becca Apres Ski Eye Lights palette! I didn’t have high expectations based on the reviews, but I took a chance and it’s really become one of my most reached-for items. One day I was running late and just grabbed it and finger-applied three shades to completely bare lids and used one as a highlighter, and 12-hours later it still looked awesome. Everything has performed great for me!
The last product I bought that truly surprised and impressed me was Bare Minerals BarePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation (Sateen 05). Other than one lipstick that I bought many years ago, I’ve never used Bare Minerals products. A couple weeks ago, a sales associate gave me a sample of this foundation to try and three days later I bought a bottle. I have a very hard time finding foundations that work well on my skin, so this was a great purchase.
Another product I recently bought that impressed me was Sephora Lipstories in Brunch Date, especially because it’s only $8. Though the shade was a bit more yellow than I would have liked, it goes on easily and looks good for hours.
Recently there have been quite a few but the top were the Viseart Tryst Palette, ColourPop All I See is Magic, Hakuhodo brushes, Pat McGrath Luxe Trance lipsticks and Hourglass Diffused Heat blush.
Without a doubt, Pat McGrath Luxetrance Lipstick which I bought in the shade Strangé and Natasha Denona Lila Palette both blew me away with their respective quality. Also quite impressed with the CP Luster Dust in Aura Voir that I purchased last month. I now long for more PMG lipsticks and CP Luster Dusts!
Using UD’s Anatomy eye liner as a lip liner with UD’s Epigram lipstick. I had never tried using an eyeliner for lips but it worked better than some of my lip liners!
NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Ash Brown. A dupe for my beloved ABH Brow Wiz which is no longer beloved because of the price difference!
I just received the Viseart Petite Pro 2 palette yesterday and am very impressed. It swatched well with a brush on bare skin, and it was really easy to do a look (5 shades) with it this morning.
I received this little palette today and played with it for half an hour . I can’t wait to use it tomorrow morning . I will be using each and every color . I’m loving it , too .
Elf Flawless foundation – really great product and have a backup. The porcelain shade was right for me.
Elizabeth Arden lipsticks – the Exceptional beauty range, the Ceramide lipsticks – all really good and great shades.
One of my all time favorite lipsticks is an Elizabeth Arden shade called Iced Grape!
Christine, I’m happy to see your two mentions. I ordered the ND palette today, and am hoping for the Pat McGrath Decadence at the Sephora April VIB Sale.
For me, I have been pleasantly surprised and impressed by the Sephora Lipstories in Desert Trip, and by an Elf brow pomade type product I picked up at the Dollar Tree. It’s a good color for me and lasts all day!
I also discovered the NYX brow “pomade” in Blonde. It is the best blonde color I have found, after trying MANY!
LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs Pro Contour Book Vol. I. The powders are so nice and blendable, the shade range is great, and it’s so multi-purpose. My only complaint is that I have to mix the two lightest contour shades to contour my face. I wish they offered a shade right in-between. Overall, though, it’s a stellar product with amazing packaging, large pans, and refills are available.
The Ordinary’s Marula Oil. I get the Marula oil thing now. And I don’t need to break the bank to have it so that’s awesome.
As silly as it sounds, I ‘shopped’ my collection and started using the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue and I am loving it! My skin is feeling so good!
Not silly at all! That’s extra awesome that you found something great that maybe you haven’t used recently 🙂
Money saved if nothing else!
Cover Fx Illuminating Setting Spray. I know a lot of people hate it, and think it’s glitter water, but I don’t get that effect. Maybe because I shake it every time I use it so the glitter is dispersed? I don’t see glitter when I use it, but it makes my skin and my makeup look great.
I guess I’m in the minority of women my age, who seem to hate dewy glowy skin and want matte. I think matte skin products are horribly aging on me and make me think of bodies at wakes. When the funeral home’s makeup artist does them, they are always matte. I think matte looks great on teens and twenties, but after that…I don’t get it.
Lol! Bonnie, on the matte products I totally agree kind of resembling corpses (yuck!) and just having watched the movie Bernie based on a real life story. I’m on the dry/combo skin should try CoverX. I’m liking lately a lot Aveeno CC cream I think is too advanced for my age or skin tone (pretty clear and not wrinkly/loose so far) but I’m aging I’m 54 and it does moisturizer plus give you a healthy glow I think I’ll buy again! I use the light to medium when I go running or on long walks with my newly adopted baby a border collie, plus use a bit more spf on face also the one at Traders Joe’s. Yeah, even young I have always stayed away from mattes prefer to leave it for Bernie! Lol!
Elf brushes I just purchased a few more and really petite form well. They are a good start se for my face instead of Sonia Kashuk which I find too big for my petite face and body. Lol! I’m 5’3.
Though this is not new…. generally speaking i remain pretty wowes by bite beauty lipsticks. Through the holidays i wore UD ozone liner and various bite lipsticks like Jam or Cayenne or Sour Cherry and that combo lastes all day. Even through eating. That never happens to me w other lipsticks
Pat McGrath Beautiful Creatures lipstick. The texture, the finish, the feel, the color … I have no words.
