What brands do you love following on social media?

I like brands that showcase a variety of posts–behind-the-scenes,
upcoming releases, customers using the product, tutorials, etc. Here are a few brands that came to mind: Sugarpill, Natasha Denona, MAC, Urban Decay, and Fenty.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I follow MAC, Tom Ford, though I don’t care much for the fashion aspect. I used to follow a few beauty bloggers but the vanity postings/selfies got old and I only like a few brands anyway (Temptalia not included). I’m thinking of following Pat McGrath but I think it might be too high concept, too edgitorial for me.

Sadly, none. It’s all fluff and hype any more. Everything is “you NEED this” and “we broke the internet with ____ .” It’s almost impossible to see real, unphotoshopped swatches and models so I can’t tell what anything really looks like. I wait for reviews.

I agree Susan, I don’t think I “like” to follow any of them really. It’s nice when brands post real looks/tutorials done with different palettes or products, but everything is so photo-shopped into oblivion it makes it hard to really believe the picture really looks like that.

I like brands that show what’s new and coming soon so you can get a sneak peek and make note of something that might interest you. Tutorials and looks are nice as well, but only if the look is wearable. As much as I appreciate the artistry involved, when brands like ND and ABH post looks they are so over the top with brows, lashes, concealer and uber glam and smokey shadow looks that I find it the opposite of useful. ABH is the worst offender on my feed for those kinds of looks, but ND is a close second. I’d actually like to see them feature something more wearable or low-key every once and a while – particularly with ND and showcasing her shadows into something for the average make-up lover. The brands that I tend to follow are the ones that I currently use/own – CdP, Armani, Tom Ford, Chantecaille, SK-II, Sisley, La Mer and ReVive.

I love instagram and rarely follow any other form of social media. But I love when brands use aspects of the social media to teach. I love the instagram tutorials so that makes me really happy to follow Natasha Denona and Anastasia. And I love when ND puts out the eye charts marking the colors she used in different palettes, I am not explaining that well, but I have so many of those saved.

Same. I don’t even have any SM accounts, other than Twitter, which I never use, and Facebook, which I haven’t logged into in well over 10 years, never posted, and don’t even remember the password… If I want to see swatches, I just Google what I’m looking for, and if something pops up in the images, I’ll look at it.

Exactly. No subscribed following. Twitter for when the bridge opens and fouls my commute. Forget FB. Google for swatches, then occ watch a vid tutorial or review by someone who is not self glorifying. Pop in on Binx, Ms Michele, with some regularity and occ Trendmood, when I can cope with the emojis and nonsense. Also choose some diva days to google what the makeup dramas are about, or watch antihauls. Follow no brands, though google them often enough!

I enjoy small indie brands’ Instagrams. There are some really creative looks on some of them. I like seeing upcoming releases, too. Sugarpill and Black Moon Cosmetics are larger indies, but I’d say the same for them.

I enjoy the creative looks I see on Kat von D’s IG, too.

I don’t care much about any brands other social media. Sometimes Urban Decay’s YouTube is interesting.

Presently, I’m following a fair share! Fenty, Viseart, Natasha Denona, Pat McGrath, UD, MAC and ColourPop are my favorite ones! I love to see what they’re creating next!

Sometimes, though, I take a peek at the ones who can be a bit the drama catchers just to watch the tea spill. Bad, I know, but it can be a source of face-palming giggles! Or, more importantly, a way to see into the deeper and more serious issues a brand may have that would make one give pause before buying their products.

Fenty and Pat McGrath have the most artistic imagery in their Insta. While I may not wear my makeup that elaborate, it’s fun to see just what the products can do!

I follow Fenty because I love the photography, Hourglass, Chanel Beauty for the short little vids and Dior for the same reason.
I also follow Lisa Eldridge for her tutorials as well but I don’t follow Lancôme.

I do not filliw any I will Google something or see a demonstration in YouTube mostly for the swatches to see if it’ll match with my skin color and of course, quality although most i have is drugstore but this lady is happy with her glorious stash. Thanks to Temptalia/Christine for all the work and a few honest youtuvers. I do not follow thexexagerated bug fish lips, immense squared eyebrows that look rather robotic and the to the moon and beyond highliter. Although is fun to peek at everyone once in a while. I do love to watch a few fashion shows sometimes. I read an article in n CVS they will be avoiding photoshopped models thus giving us a better natural feel on how products will really look.on skin. I love the idea! Wasn’t CVS also getting rid of spf that offer less than a 15% protection? I’m liking their standards. . ??

I like how on Bite Beauty’s Instagram they often show how the makeup is made behind the scenes from the design to development to manufacturing, which I think fits well with their handmade kind of appeal. It really emphasizes the type of image they’re trying to create for the brand. I also like how on Fenty’s page they show a lot of customer images because it gives me an idea of what the products look like on different people and it shows customer engagement. Overall, I like the same things as Christine: some customer shots, some product shots, and behind the scenes.
