My favorite winter beauty tip is to wait until I reached my destination to apply my mascara if I have to walk or stay outside for a while. It happened to me that the cold froze my mascara and then when I got inside the house it kinda melted, leaving black strays around my eyes :S.

Katie Switalski Avatar

My favorite winter beauty tip is wearing berry red lipstick! It’s so festive and immediately brightens up any outfit. That and moisturizer! Super important.

Sally Avatar

Thanks for having this giveaway! I own the Dr. Jart Silver Label bb cream, and it’s great. 🙂 I’d love to try this one to see how it compares!

Sally Avatar

And my favorite winter beauty tip is to moisturize with a lotion or cream that gives enough moisture. Even though I have oily skin, my skin turns more combination in the winter, with dry matches around the cheeks and mouth. So I make sure to do some extra moisturizing in those areas!

jeanette Avatar

favorite beauty tip is to whip out that bolder, darker red for that christmas party or just for the heck of it. nothing like a festive red lip.

Khristine Talactac Avatar

my favorite winter tip is to exfoliate! keep your skin feeling soft and smooth by exfoliating all of the dead & dry winter skin away! and also to moisturize after showering! I know it’s cold after a shower and may make you want to skip it, but don’t it’s very beneficial!

Jade Avatar

Since the winter cold/dry heating is very rough on my skin, I make sure to layer a very occlusive moisturizer under my base makeup to ensure that I don’t dry out during the day.

Z Avatar

Favorite winter beauty tip: Moisturize *immediately* after washing your face/using toner while your skin is still damp. If you miss that window (I often do), then get yourself a nice hydrosol to mist your face. It helps seal moisture in and combat crinkly feeling winter skin. Also, for ladies with dry skin try layering. For years now I’ve been applying a thin serum followed by my moisturizer and sometimes a third, heavier cream when it’s really dry out.

Kary Avatar

My favorite beauty tip for winter is always have your lips hydrated. I use lip balm during all hours of the day; morning, afternoon, and night! Yes! Night! I think its important to use a night balm 🙂

Natalie Avatar

I guess my favorite winter beauty tip is to avoid really dark harsh lines in my eye makeup, since I’m paler in the winter and it’ll just make me look whitewashed. I would advise starting with smoking out your eye with some brown or colored eyeshadow on your top and lower lash line, maybe thickening it out to an upswept angle towards the outer corner for drama, then adding a thin line of black/brown liquid or gel liner on the top lash, even winging it out a bit if you want (you can thicken the liner as you approach the outer corner, but stay inside the eyeshadow!). That way you get the definition of a dark line, making your eyes larger and lashes thicker, without a harsh white-washing line. But then I like the smokier look in general, since I’ve only just begun experimenting with liquid/gel liner 🙂

I use a really small, emulsified amount of pomade on my hair to prevent static during winter. All the conditioner in the world doesn’t help and dryer sheets don’t last for me, but pomade/water wax works really well for thick hair.

Kate Avatar

My favorite winter beauty tip is to switch to makeup products that add moisture to your skin and lips, such as a tinted lip balm or lip butter and beauty balms or tinted moisturizers.

Lily Avatar

My face and hands get really dry in winter. My hands used to get so dry they would crack and bleed until I learned how to use moisturizer. Remember to exfoliate and moisturize!

Katie Avatar

My favorite winter beauty trick is to put lotion on before I shower. I know it sounds counter-productive but the wet lotion really locks in moisture!

Dinitchka Avatar

Thanks for the giveaway Christine.

I’m always on the hunt for a product that cuts down my prep time.

My fav winter tip(s): Exfoliate, hydrate, heavy winter socks and foot cream while sleeping and cotton photograhphy gloves and hand cream while sleeping.

Traci Avatar

Definitely use less face powder, and use it only in the T-zone.
I’ve also found a FANTASTIC mask – Origins 10 minute Drink Up Mask. Perfect for winter. I have combo skin, which you would think I wouldn’t want a heavily moisturizing mask, but let me assure you this feels fantastic on my skin. It has literally helped to heal my dry and flaky cheeks. It’s also great for use at night before you have a day where you want your skin to look its best. Just be sure to thoroughly rinse it off, otherwise it could break you out if there’s still some residue.

Christy O Avatar

Winter beauty tip:
I really make use of frosty white or silver shadows, as an ethereal look fits in so well for this time of year.
And continue to use SPF, daily, on face, neck and hands.

Joyce Avatar

My favorite winter beauty tip is to moisturize with a heavy face cream at NIGHT. So, the face cream will be fully absorbed into your skin by morning when you wake up and then your makeup application will go on much smoother & easier.

Katie Avatar

Calendula cream (by California Baby). As a mom, I use it for minor rashes on my kids, but it also happens to be a fantastic moisturizer for the face. I would only recommend this for dry skin types, though.

Sarah Avatar

My favorite winter beauty tip is to moisturize extra! My skin gets so dry, and even if I don’t think it’s that bad, once I put makeup on my skin texture looks weird. So, I layer serums and heavier creams morning and night to keep my skin happy and hydrated. Haha, I know everyone is saying the same thing, but it is really important! NARS’ Body Glow II has been a lifesaver for my facial skin, I use it underneath my night cream.

Mai Choua Xiong Avatar

Moisturize day and night and use a sun protection of some sort. Just because its winter does not mean you don’t have to wear SPF. The suns ray is really powerful and will hit your skin even on days with huge clouds. I recommend SPF 20++

Maranda Avatar

My winter beauty tip is to apply facial moisturizer and body lotion when your skin is still damp from the shower…it really helps to soak up the moisture!

Elizabeth O Avatar

MOISTURIZER! My skin gets so dry in the winter that I double up with my normal clinique moisturizer and the olay sensitive skin moisturizer. Bright lips are fun to wear in the winter as well! It seems most beauty forecasts will show deep and muted colors for winter. If your skin tone allows it try soemthing bright!

Jaime Avatar

Well, this isn’t just for winter. I think the best tip I was ever told was from my dermatologist, who told me to moisturize my body within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower. This helps to lock in the moisture!

studiodummies Avatar

My winter tip would be – find a moisturizer that really works and use it right before you go to bed and right when you wake up – also use it once you’ve come out of the shower/bath – use a good eye cream and keep your lips moisturized too at all times!

stephanie Avatar

favorite winter beauty tip is definitely be sure to moisturize! also, since i tend to touch my hair a lot in the winter from the wind and static blowing it all over the place, that leaves me prone to breakouts on my forehead, so i usually just keep my hair back with a fabric headband whenever i can.

Chelsea Heimann Avatar

Use plenty of moisturizer on the face and body! It’s also good to use a mask or treatment on the hair occasionally to keep it soft and prevent the dry frizzies.

nikki chan Avatar

my favorite beauty tip for winter is MOISTURIZEMOISTURIZEMOISTURIZE! and continue to use spf even though there’s no sun out, spf should be worn YEARROUND
which i usually fail to do but i’m better about it this year

nariman mukhtar Avatar

I’d love a winter product( all in one) that will cover my facial imperfections while at the same time moisturises and adds color to my face. Less is more!

Amy Avatar

Fave Winter Tips:
1. Don’t just moisturize, protect it and lock it in too! Use a heavier moisturizer and cover face with pure petroleum jelly 2 or more times a week at night. There’s also other ways to moisturize and keep skin radiant. Check gossmakeupartist for more tips on dry skin 🙂

2. Bust out the red and pink lipsticks! Mix them or wear them alone, definitely need at least one red or hot pink this time of the year!

3. Glitter! Use a glitter adhesive when wearing glitter, if you don’t have a specialized one then use lash glue! Also, if you want to, using glitter liner is also easier and leads to little to no fallout

4. Don’t be afraid to amp up the shimmer/frost on eyes, lips, and cheeks :3

5. Pale Patrol this is when your beauty and elegance will be appreciated the most so ditch the self tanners 🙂

Alina Frowne Avatar

I stopped using any foundations during the winter, because they are way too drying and have been using a BB cream in winter for a while. I also make sure to use a heavy moisturizing night cream to make sure my skin does not dry out too much.

eRiN Avatar

I suck at winter beauty (my skin always gets so dry!), but the one thing I do know is that slathering Vaseline on my feet and then putting on socks (right before bed) helps soften my feet overnight.

Elizabeth Richardson Avatar

I would love to try this. My winter beauty tip is to make sure that you use a moisturizer on your whole body, face, lips and body. With the colder weather and the heat on, it will dry out your skin, also dont forget to drink plenty of water, you still need that even in ther winter!!!!!

Linda Flores Avatar

Moisturize, moisturize, moistrize. My skin gets very dry durning the winter so i have to make sure i am always on top of my moisturizing. (:

Cindy Avatar

Waterproof mascara in the bitter cold so it doesn’t run. I also put on a lip balm for the way to work in NYC in case I have to cover my mouth with my scarf. I then put lipstick on when I get to work – can’t have red getting all over the scarf! 😉

Andrea Avatar

I like to switch from powders to creamy blush in winter; sometimes just a dab of lipstick blended out and a MAC cream colour base to highlight. 🙂

Heather Avatar

Keep your lips in shape – make sure to exfoliate and use lots of moisturizing balm to prevent chapping and keep them looking pretty in winter reds and berries.

Faiza Avatar

Always use a great moisturizer! If you like being bronzed in the winter use a a foundation or tinted moisturizer one shade darker than your skin and mix a bit with your normal shade. This will create a ‘tanner’ look. Also great contouring with a matte brown color will do wonders!

raquel Avatar

i have been always curious to see if these “beauty balms” actually work, i am happy the american market is venturing on to them.. but i am still skeptical (until i try it for myself)

Aimey Avatar

My key winter beauty tip is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. There’s nothing appealing about an ashy elbow or knee. So even though you may not be showing as much skin as you would during the summer time, the little skin you DO show during the winter should look hydrated and fabulous!

Sharon Avatar

H heavy-duty hand moisturizer! I use Neutrogina’s super-concentrated one every night before I go to sleep. Sometimes even that does not help///

Ann Avatar

A good beauty tip that has probably already been mentioned is to to drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. Best defense to dry skin. But my favorite tip is to always have lip balm on hand. I hate chapped lips and Rosebud Strawberry lip balm is the BEST I’ve tried. I’ve gone through 3 tins already.

Krizthal Cruz Avatar

Favorite winter beauty tip would be whatever can keep your face and your hands from getting dry. Especially your cuticles. I can easily say mosturize, but just find whatever works for you. I use a simple facial mosturizer with SPF for my face that I can get away putting on my hands because some lotions are just a bit too harsh for my hands.

The thing I use often is the “Rose Salve” by C.O.Bigelow from Bath and Body works. It’s thin enough to apply in dry areas on your face and hands as well as the lips ^^

jenni Avatar

for chapped lips in winter, i like to spray my hydrating toner on my lips before i apply lipbalm, it has hyaluronic acid in it which helps plump out the lips and seems to help me exfoliate off the dry bits easier, fixing lips quicker!

Ashley Avatar

I moisturize daily, as well as apply a thick face cream and Jack Black lip balm on my lips every night before bed. This helps my skin feel great when I wake up! 🙂

Quinctia Avatar

I try to get away with less facial products, especially on ridiculously cold days, because if they rub off on my scarf/coat collar/hat, not only am I not actually wearing them anymore, I have to clean what the makeup got on.

Jennifer Avatar

use a body exfoliator! i just switched to using a buffer that you can put a bar soap in. so helpful. skin is smooth without moisturizing. BUT still need to moisturize! 🙂

Jessica K Avatar

I have dry skin regularly and when winter comes it just gets worse with the wind and heaters running and all. I leave my Korres Yoghurt mask on overnight a few nights a week and rinse it off in the morning, it seems to really help!

Irene Avatar

My favorite winter beauty tip is to use a heavier moisturizer at night so that when I wake up my face isn’t dry and is instead very supple.

linuxgrl Avatar

I’m able to wear totally different foundations in the winter – my skin is less oily so it tolerates more. My tip is to shop your makeup stash and dig up a foundation that you may have hidden away and try it again – you may like it better now that the seasons have changed!

Rachel Avatar

I spend a lot more time taking care of my skin in the winter… It is very cold and dry here in Denver and I moisturize like crazy. Otherwise, my skin is dry and flakey. I have been using my night moisturizer in the morning, even!

Kim Avatar

I love using extra virgin olive oil as my makeup remover before cleansing it with my clairsonic + purity cleanser! The oil cleans my face, yet keeps it moisturized even after the double cleansing 🙂

Agkelos Avatar

I like using a redder blush that mimics what I would look like if I just got a bit flushed walking in the cold. I find that this gives me just the bit of color I need to not look all bleached out.

Kim Avatar

I’m not sure if it’s a real beauty tip, but it work for me! I just moisturize a TON at night (but not too much) so my skin doesn’t dry out with the heater on.

Airess Taylor Avatar

My favorite winter tip is MOISTURIZE!! Even if you have oily skin it is still imperative that you moisturize. Especially lips and hands… well for me at least. Not only is chapped lips uncomfortable but during cold weather chapped lips can hurt… and thats NO BUENO… especially if you are trying to wear a nice deep fall lip color.

Mi.ucha Bordoni Avatar

My favorite winter beauty tip is to moisturize. A LOT.
And NEVER forget sunscreen (yeap, I wear high spf sunscreen even at winter time)!

Mallory Avatar

Definitely to moisturize! I have very dry skin and it’s even worst during the winter so I usually have a small bottle of lotion with me. Oh, and chapstick! Always carry a chapstick!

Molly S Avatar

My winter tip is to always wear a bronzer! Even in the chilly months when you lose your tan, your face may need some warmth and bronzer is the best way to do that! Most people just think bronzer is for summer, but I use mine year round! 🙂

Sherry B. Avatar

I have two, actually! To prevent dry skin on my body, I mix almond or olive oil with my body lotion or even body butter to boost the hydration for the winter. I also switch up the makeup shades from my sheerer neutrals to livelier colors to brighten my face more; a little “pop” in the colors makes my whole outlook better in winter!

Karima Avatar

Always have some kind of “universal” moisturizer with you! You can put a tiny little bit in your hair, when it is statically charged, to smooth it and of course for your lips and hands.

Daintynymph Avatar

I’m really bad about wearing sunscreen in the winter. If I had a higher spf moisturizer I think I’d be better. Oh my dry, flaky skin in winter!

Bonnie Z. Avatar

Favorite beauty tip(s) are: 1) exfoliate dry flaky skin away (st. ives) and 2) start using a heavier moisturizer to keep face hydrated (philosophy hope in a jar or clinique dramatically different moist. lotion)

Aya Avatar

Favorite winter beauty tip – mix Vaseline and granulated sugar to exfoliate your lips after shower, when they’re moist! Even if you have combination or oily skin, use a thin layer of heavier cream to seal moisture. Lotion with highervwater content can evaporate quickly in a heated, dry environment indoors, the perched skin can produce even more sebum to make up for the dryness!

Cait Avatar

My favorite tip for winter is to keep lips moisturized and use a lip balm w/ sunscreen if you’ll be out in the snow! Nothing is worse than wind chapped lips from the cold.

Coco Avatar

My favorite beauty tip for the winter is to add a couple drops of facial oil (like argan oil, essential oils, concentrates, etc.) to your regular moisturizer for that extra boost of moisture. That way, your face will stay hydrated and safe during the cold winter months without having to buy a separate (heavier) moisturizer.

Leticia Avatar

Bobbi brown yogi lip balm is THE BEST !! moisturize and repair in like no joke time !! I even applied it at night on super dry rough sponts on my face and in the morning everything is all right !! is my addiction in the winder along with the bobbi’s face oil.. they are must haves if you have super dry skin like me…

charupappi Avatar

I LIKE TO USE MAC FIX+ ON A STIPPLING BRUSH AND DABBING IT OVER ANY DRY FLAKY SPOTS ON MY FACE TO CONTROL IT FROM SPREADING ONCE MY MAKEUP HAS ALREADY BEEN APPLIED
