What makes you interested in trying a new product?

You’ll probably catch my eye with enough color, sparkle, or if the texture looks velvety or creamy!

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Now that the makeup industry is so saturated in general ( Think about it, new makeup companies and products every day) I tend to go for things that seem more unique or innovative. Involving colors others aren’t using, interesting designs, new formulas. Just something that stands out.

The market is indeed so saturated and I have most of what I need plus some. So my interest is narrow — mostly it’s if a favorite and known-to-me brand has something new; and, lip and blushes are getting my attention in general because I’m looking for options. I’ll notice some dramatic new packaging but I never buy for packaging so it’s for visual fun.

Unique to my current consortium, great reviews, beautiful swatches don’t hurt, either! Thing is this, that even at my late middle age, I *still* love to experiment with different shades and textures of existing shades I already own. I *still* thoroughly enjoy playing with various combos, therefore I’m fairly open to new additions to my stash IF they fit the 1st sentence above. At present, I’m consciously holding back due to my self-imposed low-buy.

Cool tones and when the brand is headed by someone like myself! I’ve been put off by more brands than I can count, to the point where I’m convinced that people who are attracted to the beauty industry must represent the antithesis of what I believe in.

I’m not comfortable buying indie for a number of reasons, and at this point if I want to keep using makeup I have to choose the lesses of two evils.

It depends on the beauty product.
Eye shadow palettes – if the shades are my kind of cool toned colours and I would use all of them
Lipsticks – browns, cinnamon shades and reds are my favourite
Foundation: it has to be porcelain with pink undertones or slightly neutral. Rachel’s recommendation of the Elf Flawless foundation in porcelain was spot on – not expensive and just perfect for me.
Blushes – peachy shades only.

That’s a very good question.
Texture is huge, anything chunky, I hate. Creamy, good.
Trends in colour, seasonal hues, and what’s happening in fashion will always appeal and make people buy more–to get in on the trend.
I’m no exception.
Even when I know some colours won’t be as good on me as others are–I’ll still dabble. It’s like adding a small accessory with a nod to staying in style and current, without drinking the kool-aid and diving in, and ultimately looking like the fad machine just vomited all over me. Especially as I’m not young anymore.
Pretty things hold great appeal.
My husband laughs; he knows when something pink, sparky or bright catches my eye, my head swivels and I lose my focus. 🙂
Makeup is always new sparkly, and, catches my eye.
Other than that, I am very attracted to stuff that makes my life easier–especially as I travel for work a lot, and I like carry-on–so the lighter the better and the less liquids I need to pack the more I love it.

Getting older I appreciate anything good for my skin hydration is important lately especially being winter although in S. Califirnia but yeah some days and nights can get quite chilly. Colors! I think I’m drawn to beautiful colors, pretty packaging and yes love glitter but not chunky. Good ingredients are becoming more important with age. Packaging is nice but better iwhen the quality is great too otherwise I do not want to pay for beautiful packaging and have a lousy product and they do range from drugstore to high end.

After I’ve looked at some thing new and the oo’s and aah’s have subsided I go to my trusted few beauty people for an up close and personal review, your blog being the first. Then I will go and swatch it and see if it is for right for me.

I’ve started sticking with the products I know. I’m interested when, say, Urban Decay releases new 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils or Nars has new shades of Velvet Matte Lip Pencils.

If it’s a product I have no experience with, the packaging is what gets me. I love the sleekness of Lorac highlighters and Burberry lip velvets. Patterns on powder products also makes me look twice at a product. I still remember when you posted a review of the Edward Bess powders back in 2016.

So many things can make me interested…obviously, if it’s in colors and/or finishes I love. But also cool packaging or advertising; comes from a brand I’ve had great experiences with; someone I like – real person, celeb, influencer – is talking about it, and yes, sometimes I have to try the stuff that people say they hate, just to see if they’re wrong.

I usually stick with my favorite brands MAC and Urban Decay. But the sparkle of the Stila eye glitters and Butter London eye glazes made me try different brands and I LOVE them! So sparkle and if the colors/undertones look like they will compliment my skin
