At some point I will probably give this foundation a try but for now I am going to stick with my Chosungah. I do appreciate that they have released a reasonable number of shades.
>looks better with each hour
lol
I’ve heard of it happening (a foundation looking better after wearing for a while than it did when it was first applied), but it’s rare and I think it mostly happens to people with dry to normal skin ha ha. Me, I just end up sweating things off ?
The Fenty affect! Glad that other brands are increasing their shade ranges. I am still irritated that the concealer shade I use is called “Ginger,” and that these are so tied to geographic region. It feels racist to me. There are black people that live in China (who presumably eat plenty of ginger) (e.g. a big population of African descendants in Guangzhou), light-skinned people in Namibia. Might not be the majority, but I feel that this is not far enough of an imaginative leap from a pretty prejudiced world map. Repeating these world views in consumer products just reinforces this stereotyped vision and simplification of how the world is in reality — with plenty of ethnic minority groups swept under the rug. Also the darkest colors don’t seem to go that dark.
I totally agree, I absolutely hate these place based names. Just use numbers.
Although I think the place names for the foundations are a bit misleading because, as you opined, they do seem to promote a stereotype image of what sort of complexion you’d find in that local, I don’t understand your reasoning when it comes to your contention that naming a concealer color after a particular food—Ginger—is racist. Do you also think naming a concealer Vanilla, Honey, Biscuit, Walnut, Hazelnut, Café, etc. is racist? What is being referenced is the color of the food; not the color of the person eating it. Besides, you do know that China is not the only place where ginger is eaten. People of various nationalities and ethnicities from around the world eat ginger.
Some red heads are called gingers…
Very true, Janine. One of the most well-known ginger’s is Prince Harry of Great Britain 🙂
???
That is an amazing range of shades from Nars – they are seriously trying to cater for diverse skin types and undertones. Oslo looks pretty good to me.
Kinda bummed this isn’t coming in Siberia or other fair with neutral or yellow undertone option.
Me too. I’m sure there could also stand to be a few more deep-dark shades!
I picked up a sample at my local Nordstrom. It looks nice and wears nicely. A great foundation but at this point I am not in the market for a full coverage foundation as I have a few great ones which I hardly use since I prefer tinted moisturizers and BB creams.
More pale coolish yellow color choices are always welcome for me!
I will be picking up a sample as soon as my local Sephora has it on the shelves. One of my fellow makeup lovers whose opinion I completely trust loves this. Told me it’s her new favorite.
I keeping hoping they’ll release a shade between Chantilly and Vanilla (which would be a perfect match). Maybe next time…
Agreed! Chantilly is a stark white color with a weird green undertone and vanilla is my skin color. I’d love something to brighten the undereyes just a touch
This is awesome. The main thing preventing me from buying Nars complexion products was the weird shade range especially in the darker shades. Caracas sounds promising for me.
Everything about it sounds amazing, but the “full power radiance” claim is a little disturbing. That somehow screams “grease ball” to me!
I picked it up in Light 4 Deauville. I just got it last Thursday so I’ve only worn it a few times. So far I’m really liking it, its long wearing, still looks pretty much the same as when I put it on after a 10 hour work day on my combo oily skin. The coverage is really good as I have a lot of acne scaring to cover. In the past I’ve loved NARS Sheer glow but it appears it breaks me out. I was hesitant to try this for that reason, but decided to. Thus far its okay, I’m hoping that remains the case. As silly as it sounds it really does look better with time. It doesn’t look all that radiant as the day starts, unlike Sheer Glow, but it does get more radiant as the day goes on. Only thing I can say is it definitely transfers even though they say it doesn’t. All in all so far I really like it.
I’m excited to try this out because the radiant tinted moisturizer is a holy grail for me and people were saying this isn’t ridiculous coverage (not a fan of full coverage), but I am pretty annoyed that the 3 lightest shades look straight up pink 🙁 hopefully I can find a shade light enough for me that isn’t pink AF
Ever since RiRi dropped her Fenty ProFilt’r Foundation in 40 shades, brands are scurrying to answer the challenge that she put out there. Which is; INCLUSIVENESS. Produce foundation in enough shades to cover the varied rainbow of skintones and their different undertones. Nars is certainly making a good effort, even if perhaps missing a few more deep tones. At least they’re trying!
Hey all! I’m Tahoe in this! I’m 35 and have been looking for the perfect foundation for 20 years. This is it!
Never personally had success with NARS foundation formulas. I liked the TM when I was younger and had less aging issues. This one interests me though..
Question for anyone who is a total shade geek: I just swatched the soft matte complete concealer (not the new concealer posted here, the potted one) in shade Creme Brule on my inner arm and it’s remarkably close to my skintone. My face is a lighter and less yellow, but I still think it would be a pretty good match. Any suggestions on shade match in the foundation?
I am so excited to try this out!!
Omfg why did they leave Siberia out of this? It’s the only foundation color that matches me perfectly but I hate the formula in sheer glow so much
Have you tried their All Day Luminous Weightless? It comes in Siberia.
I wore this foundation today, for the whole day pretty much. I am very impressed, I was not expecting to like it this much. I live in the Midwest and it’s very cold and dry here, my skin is very dry too. This foundation went on very matte at first and I thought to myself, nope this won’t do. But I was wrong, my skin started to feel comfortable after about 10-15 mins and then it lasted so nicely! I wore blush and bronzer too and I have to say, cheek products blended really well. This was a sample I used. Now I am interested in buying the full size.
