Deborah Lippmann Glamorous Life Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is described as “Rolex rose gold” with a metallic finish. Deborah Lippmann said it took her three years to get the finish you see in Glamorous Life–always fun to read tidbits like that. It’s champagne, it’s beige, it’s rose gold–it’s really a mix of pink and champagne with threads of gold micro shimmer to give it that metallic finish.  It was opaque in two coats.   Zoya Pandora is less metallic, more shimmered, and not as pink. Rescue Beauty Lounge Plie has a similar softness but is a cream finish and has no gold.

This is one of the easiest metallics I’ve worked with; it’s not too thick and the brush strokes easily pull into straight lines–no wonkiness. There’s a lot of inherent shine in the finish even without a top coat (though I’d still recommend a top coat for prolonged wear).  The polish applies evenly across the nail without bubbling or streaking.  I’ve had good luck with Deborah Lippmann’s formula–her shades typically wear for a week with minor to minimal tip wear.

Please check out what metallic finishes look like, not just in polish, but real life – http://www.advancedgrilles.com/finishes/metallic I just googled around but that site had several decent images of it. It’s not streaky, which is when color applies unevenly – you can see brush strokes, but to an extent, it is part of the finish itself!

This has been my go-to polish for fall!!! I was disappointed with orly’s rage, which everyone called rose gold, but it leaned to cool and didn’t look rosy to me! Loooove the glam life!!!

It’s a metallic finish – maybe you are unfamiliar with it – but here’s a good site with several images: http://www.advancedgrilles.com/finishes/metallic. That’s part of the finish – they aren’t streaks but the metallic threads that give it the dimension of it. Streaking is more when the color does not apply evenly so it has a streaky look.

this took her three years to finish?! The color’s not bad, but it just seems too dupe-able. I guess frosts are always streaky, even Lippmann ones. Pass.

a very similar colour would be chestnuts about you by sephora for opi. it’s has more of a shimmer/metallic feel to it but the rose gold is the same and it doesn’t show brush strokes.

Hmmm…I just cannot like this. It feels “grandma” to me also. Reminds me of something I would have worn in the 70’s.

Love your website. I could spend hours here!

It’s a metallic finish – it’s supposed to be a brushed finish – just google “metallic finish” and see what real metallic pieces look like. Maybe if you have stainless steel appliances or brushed satin nickel fixtures in your house, you could look at those, too 🙂

Ok I had to mark Love it because I have it 😉 I am a sucker for anything 1)DL and 2)rose gold.

That being said, I do not think this is the best representation of the color. Butter London Fairy Lights NAILS IT (pun intended). I was so much more impressed with that shade than DL’s. (just swatched both the other day).

I think this polish is perfect! I’m 21 and it didn’t even cross my mind that this would ever be too ‘old’, its also so smooth on it feels like a gel manicure! Rose gold is my obsession at the moment and this is exactly what i was looking for and more 🙂

It looks like a slightly rosier and less copper version of Butter London’s Old Bill. This is a very pretty, antique looking color. But my butter london is a little too close to this to buy this one.

Mann, such a pretty color! It’s unfortunate because so many metallics have such beautiful colors but it’s just so damn hard to get them to apply right. Even with Glamorous Life, I hate that you can still see where the brush strokes were.
