How do you handle fall out from eyeshadow?

How do you handle fall out from eyeshadow? How do you clean up?

If it’s really bad, I generally use a makeup remover! If it’s not too bad, then I brush it away with a fluffy brush and usually foundation will cover any residual amount.

How do you do this? I mean, I really want to know. I’ve tried to do it, but I’m scared concealer and foundation might ruin my carefully painted eyes. 🙁

i love using sephora shadw shields beforehand if i know im using sparkles and stuff like that… otherwise if its just a bit, a q tip with remover is fine =]

I assess the damage: a few flakes gets a fan brush and more gets a swipe of baby wipe. The fallout issue is why I don’t usually put foundation on first. If I have to, I put powder under my eyes to catch it so that I can sweep it away.

If its glittery fall out, I use a bit of scotch tape. If it’s regular eyeshadow,I either wipe it up with a baby wipe or makeup remover pad, or sweep it off with a brush, depending on severity. If it’s just a little bit of shimmer from a soft highlight shade, I let it go.

I usually put under my eyes so the eyeshadow falls on the powder and not my face. Pls I’ve learnt that patting on eye shadow instead of sweeping it gives less fall out. Also, you could shake off excess of the shadow on the back of your hand before applying.

I always try to minimize fall out by gently patting on eyeshadows that are prone to it. If if doesn’t help carefully brush it away with a soft small blush brush I have and eventually use any product left on my foundation brush to cover smudges.

I also do my eyes before my foundation for this reason – I spray MAC fix+ on the back of my hand and roll it up with a qtip because it takes away the fallout without leaving any residue on my face. Love it for this purpose, and use it everyday!

I always apply foundation before eye make up. So I apply some extra loose powder under my eyes. If there’s any fall out I can just brush it off with the extra powder afterwards. This has always worked for me.

I apply my sparkly/glittery eyeshadows first, then I use a makeup remover to remove anything under my eyes, if I still see glitter reflecting, I work up a really good lather of my facial wash and wash under my eyes and cheeks. I pat to dry then I apply my face creme, eyeliner, mascara, and under eye concealer, blush and lipstick. It works like a charm every time since I don’t use foundation unless it’s a very special occasion.

For more bold looks I do my foundation last. Unless is like clown makeup (Red Queen) and I just over powder my base white to knock off the fallout later.

If it’s a more natural look and let say I get my liner on my cheek (use powder/mineral liner somedays) I take a cotton bud to remove the spot and go over again with my foundation brush.

I usually try to swipe it away with a paper towel. If it doesn’t get rid of all of it, I pat a little bit of my colored face powder over the area (whether it’s shadow fallout or glitter).

Becca Avatar

I usually don’t have really bad fall out (but if I do I generally just leave it there) because I hold a tissue molded to underneath my eye while I am patting on glittery shadows.

I apply eye makeup first, then foundation. That way, if i do have to use makeup remover to get rid the fallout, I won’t be disturbing my foundation.

Prevention is the key for me – it’s amazing what a good job a post-it note can do as “shield”. I’ve also got Too Faced’s Glitter Glue which works but I’m not all that thrilled with it as it makes it hard to blend other shadows. The best thing I’ve found, though, is Sephora’s glitter gizmo (it’s billed as an eye shadow brush but it’s not really a brush at all). Thanks to this little wonder, I can actually wear Maui Wowie now!

I apply my eye makeup first. I’ve never understood why people do face makeup first. When I’m doing my eye makeup, my hands are right against my face, which would smudge foundation and such. Clean up is also way easier when you can just wipe eyeshadow right off without worrying about messing up foundation.

Kleenex under my eye, if it’s glittery or dark eyeshadow. If it’s a light color, I’ll apply loose powder under my eye and then swipe it away with a brush.
