Anselm Reyle for Dior Collection for Spring 2012
Anselm Reyle for Dior Collection for Spring 2012
Christian Dior once worked as a gallerist and kept art close to his heart throughout his career as a visionary couturier. In tribute to this history, Dior has collaborated with German artist Anselm Reyle to create the limited edition Anselm Reyle for Dior Eyeshadow Palette ($110.00). This striking palette features a camouflage pattern in shades of silver, grey, charcoal and violet. In addition, there will be five limited edition Reyle-inspired shades of Dior Vernis ($23.00 each) available: Ultra Violet, Pink Graffiti, Electric Blue, Metallic Silver and Untitled Black.
Anselm Reyle was born in TΓΌbingen, Germany in 1970 and currently lives and works in Berlin. Reyle’s stripe paintings are instantly recognizable as responses to the formalist vocabulary of Clement Greenberg that defined the art of the 1950s and 1960s. Reyle references iconic abstractionists ranging from Kenneth Noland to Otto Freundlich. Reyle’s “objets trouvΓ©s,” a reference to his multi-media installations that include sculpture and found neon lights, are in constant dialogue about the role of modernism today. He is one of few contemporary German painters examining the lessons of abstraction and their place in contemporary painting at a moment when figurative painting has gained critical momentum.
The palette and Vernis shades are part of a larger Anselm Reyle accessories collectionβfeaturing bags, shoes, and jewelryβwhich will launch worldwide as well in January. Reyle immersed himself in the heart of Dior and was given cart blanche in the design process. He played with colors, shaking up the codes of the mythical Avenue Montaigne Couture House, which offered all its savoir-faire to serve its imagination.
βMost of my work builds on object that already exist, which I then transform. I applied the same philosophy.β — Anselm Reyle
availability: January 2012 at Saks Fifth Avenue and Dior.com. It will also be available at Dior Boutique Art Basel.

Nice but the prices are ridiculous….
Not only do I love Dior, but I have seen and Anselm Reyleβs sculptures and paints so I will totally be getting this! I kinda dont get why camo? I havent seen anything camo heβs done but maybe Iβm not up to date. I wonder if it will be like the Mitzah palette though and sold out the day it comes out!!!
That eyeshadow seems like it would be a pain to use.
$110 !! definitely a piece for collectors!!,
Iβm soo eyeing the Pink Graffiti nail polish
Far be it from me to pass on a Dior collection but that shadow palette looks like it would appear quite murky and Iβm pretty sure those nail polish colors have been done before.
Wow, Iβd love to have that eyeshadow palette due to the cute camo design ^_^ but there is no way Iβll pay $110 for it!
The palette looks amazingβ¦until I see the price and choke. LOL. Just could never spend that much on a single palette.
Wow 110 for this palette is insane! I couldnβt bring myself to buy this palette, but who ever does i hope it really is their moneyβs worth. I do like the navy print its got going on there, sense it has that design that probably why the price is so high. This is kind of a dior version of Mac mineralized eye shadows, it looks pretty in the pan but wouldnβt the colors just create a big blur when mixed? I have a feeling so. I find the polishes easily dupe-able,can find those colors at any drugstore or walmart. will save you the extra 23 dollars.
I hope that purple turns out to be a jelly-cream, because Iβve never senn one and would really like one!
I just saw a swatch for the purple one – it looks gorgeous!
Oh my… That eye shadow palette is amazing. It’s definately a collector’s item! I’ll probably purchase it. I’ll definately pick up some of those nail polishes. Those colors are great for spring. I’m tired of pastels for spring.
This is the eyeshadow palette of my life! It includes the colors I wear every day and adore! And the nail polishes are also wonderful! Really left me breathless π
The pink and blue polishes next to each other instantly make me think of Flickr
Well this is all very ” Let them eat cake!”. I do genuinely hope that many enjoy this collection, but I surely will not be one of them. I’m burnt on the founder stories of Dior and Chanel so I’ll pass on giving them any more of my plebeian funds. I feel as though we’re caught in some vortex of rapidly increasing vanity pricing and it is running unchecked in the midst of a horrid economic climate. What can I do with a $110 palettes? Let it sit in the drawer with 5 million other palettes. Super meh for me.
I totally agree Emily. I already have a ton of these same colors & I didn’t have to spend a fortune on them. I can do much more with that kind of money, rather than spend it on one eyeshadow pallet. I love looking at these review’s, but that’s about it.
Precisely π
I loathe camouflage so looking at this makes me physically sick. Such a miss for me.
no no no no and no.
this, also ! π
The only good thing about this collection is the blue nail polish.
HOW DARE DIOR (Bernard Arnault) STEAL WARHOL’S CAMOUFLAGES WITH THE HELP OF ANSELM REYLE AND PRETEND IT’S COOL???!!!!! MΓME CASTELBAJAC ISN’T SO LAME.
