Doesn’t settle into the fine lines and it isn’t thick.
Specifically formulated for mature skin. That would grab my attention immediately.
Agreed
…with an A+ rating from Christine, of course!
I think when a concealer gets hype for being hydrating my interest tends to peak! ๐
One that — from actual reviews, not hype or advertising or false claims — actually covers dark circles. I have yet to find one that does without looking like spackle.
Claims (and reviews that back up the claim) that it covers very dark circles and comes in a very light shade.
It must have great staying power, NO creasing in my fine lines, and it mustn’t oxidize! Also, it has to come in a shade that melds with my foundation shade, yet a little bit lighter. Is this too much to ask?
“Doesn’t settle into fine lines.”
*slams fist on table* GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.
Seriously, this is like my biggest lifelong peeve right here. My undereye area is the only place I currently have fine lines, and I’ve had them since I was a kid, so I’m sure it’ll get worse with aging. I also have dark circles, though, so it’s the one place I always wear concealer. It’s such a constant bottle trying to find the level of concealer application without using too much powder to set it.
For me the biggest factor in trying a concealer is the ability to cover my hyperpigmentation and then set so it doesn’t migrate off my face. I don’t get much creasing in lines surprisingly, since I do have wrinkles and fine lines but for whatever reason, I never have a problem with it. I have more difficulty keeping my hyperpigmentation covered. Nothing seems to help. I have used color correctors, think concealer, thick concealer, patting, stippling, you name it and nothing seems to really cover it up.
All of the above. That said, I will try anything that isnโt UHE. I do about 3 concealer layers. Or more. They have to play well with pre-existing HG products….the FAB triple duty and Paula long name TM. I wear those, even on no make up days. If they break down with those simple products, or are drying, like CP, they are out. Just counted my concealer bag. 15, not including the pencil products or concealer primer just under-eye concealer, brightener, corrector. Basic worry area.
Apparently the word concealer alone sets my brain to mush.
I have an area in my storage which I call concealer shame.
Tarte just had a sale and I bought more.
I like light app of shapetape as base h/l for undereye/nose/cheekbone triangle before foundation.
I like NARS soft matte for undereye after foundation.
Why I buy more is beyond me? WTF is wrong with me?
Because you have so much experience with concealer, Wwendy, can I beg your assistance?
The Nars Soft Matte: better than Nars Radiant Creamy? I’ve been using the Radiant (seems easier with the wand), but I’d be willing to try the soft matte. Mature skin, some fine lines. Also been interested in Shape Tape, but I’ve heard it’s quite thick and I don’t have dark circles for the most part.
Thanks!
Hey DVa: The two Nars are such different beasts.
Radiant creamy is a respectable concealer for everywhere but the eyes. It does not provide enough cover for me (see caveats below). I also do not find it as effective at covering my redness issues around nose, chin. Again, a pigmentation issue. I go with shapetape for that reason; better adherence, better coverage.
Soft Matte:. I only like it around my eyes. It doesn’t adhere well at all around my nose, chin. I find it my perfect finishing concealer around eyes. I start with a light layer of shapetape. Then I buff Soft Matte to finish.
Something about the texture allows me to apply a light layer while giving excellent coverage and it does not settle into lines. I am 54 and have mature skin, but not much in the way of lines under my eyes.. very fine at best. I set with LaMer powder (hoarded old version) using Goss Air Brush.
Caveats: I have discoloration and deep eye troughs so I need industrial strength help in that area. I use NYX eye primer after moisturizing. I then apply shapetape to the back of my hand before applying to face. I never use the wand. It gives an insane amount of product. I literally use less than a dime sized amount of product, dab with concealer brush on skin and then use heat of my fingers to distribute. That small amount is enough to do my concealing: under eye triangle, nose, a bit around mouth and chin hollow.
Hopefully something helpful in there! ๐
Thanks Wwendy! I’ll try the soft matte for under eye and maybe test the shape tape next time I’m in store for shade!
a genuinely “radiant, creamy” finish (like NARS promises but doesn’t deliver for me) – something that doesn’t go dry and cakey, something with good coverage and that doesn’t settle into under-eye lines, showing up ones that I otherwise can’t even see. Is that too much to ask (clearly, it is!)
All of the above.
I don’t use concealers, but if I did I would want one that was light enough and not emphasise any fine lines under my eyes or uneven colour patches on my face. It would have to have a very smooth finish too.
I have yet not used them or those funky color correctors things but would like to find a light one yet that will match my under eyes. I think the wrong party stuff and I would call more attention to under the eye area. Sometimes with allergies or stuffed nose, headaches I could use them!
One that doesn’t budge. Tbh, I’m not really into concealers. I just pick one
Blurs fine lines, does not crease, lasts 8 hrs, is OPAQUE (covers my dark circles) and does not dry out my under eye area!!
It would have to be thin but cover the dark circles and also be hydrating. So far, I havenโt found one that looks ok. They all seem cakey and aging.
Ok ladies , I get it and agree with some comments about Nars radiant concealer so which one would recommend for mature skin ?
I rarely use concealer, but a color selection that actually includes very fair/porcelain shades and neutral undertones gets my attention. Also, it has to stick to my oily skin. Most concealers just melt off. So far, Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in Barvarian Cream has worked best for me. E.l.f. Maximum Coverage Concealer works great on me, too, but it appears they discontinued most of the shades, including Porcelain (mine).
For under my eyes, I occasionally want to cover dark circles due to insomnia. I like something thinner that dries down quickly and doesn’t crease. I also like a brightening yellow to it. E.l.f. HD Lifting Concealer in Brightening was my HG for this, but again, they discontinued most of the shades, including that one. ๐ I haven’t found a concealer replacement. Besame French Vanilla Brightening Powder works pretty well, though.
