The more readers who share their recommendations, the more powerful our Makeup Recommendations system will be!   You can also browse through recommended products, and you can look for specific types of products or for recommendations by things like skin type, skin tone, age range, and so forth.  For example, I might want to find out what coral blushes others with a light-medium/medium skin tone recommend.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Deep Truth, Plumage, Red Brick. Very disappointed that they discontinued the Matte2 formula. Copperplate was my favorite and they do not have another shade that compares.

Agree about copperplate. Don’t have a lot of Mac shadows, comparatively. But the initial favorites show why warm neutrals remain the predominant force in offerings from all brands. Of the ten selected by readers, seven are warm neutrals. Guess that’s why I only have copperplate, fathoms deep, and lucky green, lol.

I recently gave away most of my MAC neutrals (several on the above list) because I was just over-saturated, I couldn’t make use of them all and that irks me. I think the only ones that survived were Malt, Blackberry, Deep Damson, and Sable. And a few LEs. Deep Truth and Plumage are my must haves.

Well Pooh on me, I totally forgot all about Vex and Savant until I just now saw both recommended. Vex was my very first MAC eyeshadow. I literally wore it to death that 1st winter I had that gem in my possession! Paired it with Nyx’s Root Beer and Beanie for a very dreamy, yet smokey purpled taupe look that made my eyes glow. And how did I forget that???

Not surprised a lot of the faves are in the Veluxe Pearl formula, their best one in my opinion.

PS All that Glitters makes an amazing highlighter – it was all I used to use before highlighters exploded

Veluxe Pearl is one of my faves too but they axed some of their really excellent formulas – the Matte2’s, all the original Pro Longwear shades, Starflash and the Mega Metals – all of these were really outstanding but of the formulas remaining, I also like the VPs the best.

Woodwinked is one of those eyeshadows that doesn’t look that special in a swatch but looks amazing on the eye. One of those ‘one and done’ shades that makes it look like a complex eye look when you’ve only used one eyeshadow. I didn’t realise it was Limited Edition though (indicated as such in the list above).

As it turns out, I have 7 out of the 10 eyeshadows listed here! My all-time favorites include expensive pink, coppering, all that glitters, amber lights, soft brown, brun, woodwinked, rice paper, and satin taupe. I’ve branched out to other brands of eye shadows over the years (UD, Colourpop, etc) but I’m still a total MAC girl at heart.

Soft Brown, Cork, Saddle, Embark, Brown Script, Naked Lunch, Sumptuous Olive, Coppering, Nylon, All That Glitters

I wish Folie wasn’t discontinued. It was my favorite for the crease.
