I would say for women just starting a stash? Same thing over and over and over from every line.
Agree completely.
i like this set for a couple reasons. First, it’s a great travel palette. I love KVD eyeshadows, but the Shade & Light is too big to take on vacation. Second, I have and love this eyeliner. The shades in this palette look nicer than her previous quad palettes. I might have considered getting this if I didn’t already have a few good travel-size palettes.
The price for this set isn’t anything special, though, as her eyeshadow quads sell for $15 and the liner is $20.
This way out basics UD naked basics. I know what Linda means, but I think one ‘graduates’ or steps up to KVD, if one is an average jane/joe makeup newbie. Maybe a twenty + newbie. Are the young ones stuck in the warm neutral trend, too? To a certain extent, they are forced to be….by the offerings out there….and that helps Too Faced a LOT! I’d be looking for cute, colorful, and multi as well, given the endless stream of neutrals/browns/warms. This holds zero interest for me, but I was interested to see kvd teases, (crush eye palette soon) and that a metal/matte 2 is in the works.
If you have Metal/Matte, the mini may not be worth the hassle. The 5 mattes are *all* in the original, and 4/5 metals are permanent, with Flash rounding out the 5 (Synergy is also in there). The mattes are all neutrals.
Looking at this, I was immediately reminded of a Physicians Formula quad I owned way, way back. I wound up just using the darkest shade for filling my brows, the lightest one made for a decent matte browbone shade, the other 2 usually got ignored. I think that in itself conveys my thoughts on this.
I have that PF quad! I bought it on clearance a while back, before all these mini matte palettes became available. However, in my case, the darkest & lightest were ignored (I prefer satin/shimmer brow highlight, and pencil-back then-for brows), but the 2 middle shades applied all but the same.
As “basic” as this quad is, I’m glad to have it, and I’ve actually done several completely different looks using it alone. I know neutrals aren’t “exciting” to most people, but there are those of us who actually prefer them, especially with all the primarily colorful and/or shimmery mega-palette offerings this time of year. As beautiful as they are, I just can’t use my UD Heavy Metals & KvD Saint + Sinner palettes alone; having these mini matte neutral palettes on hand make me more willing to use them. I envy those who can get by with colorful, complex eye looks on a daily basis, but I don’t have the time, nor does it fit my station in life.
I also picked this up a couple of weeks ago on KvD Beauty, along with the liner, and Bow & Arrow lipstick and lip liner for $54 USD (the bundle is now $64 USD), so I pretty much got the quad free, plus a mini Trooper as a GWP.
Side note: the dark (Define) shade is actually a beautiful deep brown with very fine gold shimmer running through it, while the other 3 are completely matte. The Base shade is a pretty melon, not the beige it appears in the promo image, and really brightens the eye (especially having deep-set eyes).
You’re making me want to get this palette!!
I have Bow ‘n’ Arrow…it’s one of my favorite nude lipsticks.
I’d been wanting Bow & Arrow for a while, but it was always sold out whenever I went to order other things (I could never justify having one small item shipped in a huge box!), so I jumped on the chance to get it, along with the lip liner, which just those 2 would have been about $40. The palette alone is $22 on KvD Beauty, but shipping is a bit high, so if you have Sephora Flash, it may be better to order the Sephora bundle (unless you need to replace Bow & Arrow!).
The formula of the quad is the same as the others, which is smoother than the large/original Shade + Light palette.
I want this :O !!!
This is quite a boring little palette – the shades are hardly unique and I think there are better little ones around.
I think Nars Duo Eyeshadow in the shade “Cordura” is a much better color, if you’re looking for a neutral travel eyeshadow.
