Urban Decay Shakedown Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Shakedown Eyeshadow ($17.00 for 0.05 oz.) is actually no longer available, because Urban Decay has slowly but methodically discontinued their matte eyeshadows. I took these photos several months ago (ah, yes, the never-ending backlog!), and while it’s not conventionally available any more, it does still pop-up on retailers like HauteLook.

It’s a grayish brown with a cool tone and matte finish. Urban Decay’s matte eyeshadows are soft and silky but can sometimes be a little powdery. Shakedown is only very slightly powdery, but the silkiness of the texture makes it a cinch to blend. It makes a great crease color for neutral looks. It’s similar to: theBalm Celebrational (shimmery), MAC Street Cool (cream-based product, frosted), MAC Double Feature 3 (satiny), and Inglot #342 (lighter, more caramel).

I ordered this during the UD sale, they didn’t send it out to me. So well they replied it was out of stock when I asked. Such my luck, I love this color

Why would they methodically discontinue their matte shades? D: I’m not too familiar with UD and their practices and how well certain products perform, so I’m curious as to why they’re doing that.

I use this shadow for my eyebrows. It’s absolutely perfect for that. 😀 I hope I never run out of this, because I don’t know how I’ll get a hold of another one!

I wonder why they’re discontinuing their matte eye shadows? If they’re revamping you’d think they’d get rid of their entire eye shadow collection and maybe release new versions in new packaging, or just stick to palettes.

Oh the joy in my heart when I see a good matte. The burning sorrow when I find out it’s one I’ll never get to have in my hands. Sad day. Do you know why they’ve been killing off their mattes one by one?

I was lucky enough to get it during their sale and I absolutely love this color. The texture is amazingly smooth and silky, I don’t have any issues with it being powdery. I really do hope they bring their matter eyeshadows back.

I didn’t get this one in the UD sale because it’s similar to a lot of the colors in my Naked Palette, but I got Purple Haze and Chronic. The texture is beautiful. I’m sad they’re discontinuing the mattes. Anyone know why?

Also, Christine, I’ve used your blog several times to make decisions before purchasing new makeup. Your swatches and photos are always fantastic. Thanks!

I also got Shakedown during a HauteLook sale and I use it almsot exclusively for filling in my brows. The coolness keeps it from going orange or auburn on me like many products do.

I’m a true cool tone, and this is my absolute favorite contour color (yes, I do mean for my cheeks). I’m going to miss it so much.
Why are UD discontinuing these? They are the best matte eyeshadows available. No competition! Everything else UD makes can be substituted. Well, in my opinion anyway.
