I haven’t really tried it much myself, so I couldn’t say. It seems like something I would be too lazy to bother with.

I’ve never used an airbrush, but my grandmother uses one with her Clinique foundation. I have to admit, it creates a flawless, natural finish!
I would LOVE to try it! I want the TEMPTU AirBrush System, but I’m waiting to save some extra cash to even consider it!
I haven’t tried it, but I’m curious. To be honest it seems like it’d be overkill for anything except maybe weddings or photoshoots.
agreed
No. I would LOVE to (I am too damn lazy for my current foundation routine…it takes too long @.@), but it’s too expensive. I was Tweeted once by an airbrush company that was saying that airbrush isn’t “really” cost-prohibitive (anymore), but I was just thinking like, Umm…my foundation and brush together cost less than $30; what does a compressor cost, again? mmmmmhm.
I’ve never tried it, but it looks cool!
No, I haven’t. It seems rather extravagant. I’ve only seen makeup artists use airbrush makeup on celebrities. I don’t even know how they get the makeup exactly where they want it. It looks like it would make a mess.
Not personally, though I will say certain types of airbrush makeup hit me right in the uncanny valley. The women start looking more like dolls than human beings. It weirds me out.
I received the Dinair system fro my husband last Christmas. He is so good about getting me the one special thing I want. I love mine. It is so easy to use and takes me no more time that it does to use a brush to apply foundation. I recommend it to anyone looking to try airbrush.
My husband bought me as a gift the TEMPTU machine… I never even tried it myself before then because no reason to tease myself! But it’s amazing! I thought it would be a whole complex machine but they really made it easy for regulars like myself.. lol. It takes around 2.5 min to create a flawless foundation!
I want a system really bad, and I’m using the excuse that I’ll be doing my friends’ wedding party’s makeup as the justification for spending $200-300 on a system. I’ve finally found the best way to apply my own makeup, but I do requests to do others, and I want to have something that is versatile.
I’ve always been intrigued by airbrush makeup, but I’ve never had the opportunity to get it done.
I know there in no chance of me ever using one on myself, a really bad experience with using airbrush techniques in art class scared me off using them, especially near my face.
I don’t airbrush myself often, but my clients seem to love it! They prefer it over other foundation types.
I use it for makeup at conventions and I think it’s fantastic. It’s sanitary for use between clients because no applicators touch the skin, and enables some awesome effects!
Airbrush makeup really is phenomenal…especially for mature skin. You have to see a side by side of regular foundation application (eg sponge, fingers, brush, etc) and airbrush applications to really notice the difference. It is costly, but the results seem worth it to me. Yes buying a compressor and gun are costly, but they will last forever and the foundations lasts a very long time too. the initial cost is pricey, but it’s something you will have for years to come. For people who just dabble and don’t really wear makeup it is a waste of money, but for those who wear foundation every single day then this is definitely something you really look in to.
If you are going to venture into airbrush try the iwata smart jet compressor, temptu sb35 gun, temptu sb foundations or occ water based foundatins. Those are my favs
Yes! I am using one of Dinair’s Pro kits for weddings etc. I like to use it on myself too! There are many UPSIDES to using airbrush.. but there is alot to learn too. I used to paint with an airbrush, so I already know how to hold it, apply makeup and clean/troubleshoot. THe one thing that annoys me is these “how to” videos are by experienced users which make the process look so easy. It is, after a bit of practice.
once in grade 5 when my friend had like a “makeup party” and had a professional do our makeup, but, honestly, I didn’t notice much difference and would be too lazy to bother with it on my own. plus, it’s expensive!!!
I’ve the airbrush system from Dinair and I love it so much. It’s much better than any brush or something like that.
I haven’t! It seems to be pricey and I’m just too lazy to bother trying it right now… I’m just going to try some mineral foundation. ~
Same. Im far too lazy for that, plus I can create an airbrush finish myself. I prefer traditional applications. Especially if you have more problematic skin..
i have the temptu pro system, and i LOVELOVELOVE it! its amazing, a little much to clean, but you have to clean your brushes too! Gives you good results. . definatly consisder it
I don’t really want to take any chances since my hands are too squeamish for airbrush.
I just got my compressor and haven’t had the time to relearn my old airbrush skills (paints rather then makeup back then.) It’s like uing a spray paint can but more precise.
I have played with Kett,Dinair, and Temptu airbrush foundation and the formulations seem promising ^__^
I’m looking into them right now. Mostly I think it comes down to the product, not the actual system. I have heard from Pro’s that they use Iwata compressors and guns. What I would also like to know, if you use the kind like Iwata or Dinair can you put any product in it??
Yes, as long as you properly clean your gun with either s/b cleaner or alcohol in betwen each use you should be fine. You’ll know if it is not clean if your gun is spitting the foundation or if you bent a part of the gun. I would really go for the iwata smartjet. It’s not as pretty looking as the other compressors, but it is the industry standard and MAC even uses that brand and model for its airbrush. You can push any product through the gun as long as you dilute it down the consistency of milk or thinner. Also, dont mix water based foundations with anything other than water. S/B (silicone based) can be mixed with alcohol or sb thinner. Good luck =)
Thanks Stephanie!!
I have the Temptu system and I am honestly too lazy to use it…The coverage is wonderful and it lasts forever. I have it stored away in a closet. Maybe I need to break it out and use it.
wish i was in your place, haha 😀
No, but I want the Luminess Airbrush machine really bad. Just can’t seem to bring myself to cough up the $300. I guess I could consider it an investment
NO, but i want to 😀 very curious
i probably gonna use it on my future clients lol
I use TEMPTU S/B Foundation (same formula as the pods, but in bottle form) WITHOUT an airbrush! I use a stippling brush to apply and it gives a near-airbrush effect. You do not need an actual airbrush to use an airbrush foundation and you can achieve virtually the same result. I’ve been using TEMPTU for years now and have yet to find the same results with any other foundation!
I bought a Dinair about a year ago. I loved it at first, it is the best for covering acne. Now my skin is clearer lately (I’m pretty sure it’s because of my Renee Rouleau products) I haven’t touched my airbrush in quite a few months. I think I might have to get mine out and use it again too…
I have, and I found I got similar if not better results with my regular, non-airbrush foundation (NARS Sheer Glow). It began to be a hassle to do, and I could never seem to even get a light, even coverage, so I returned my system. It was fun and such, but it just wasn’t working out for me.
I’m a makeup artist so I airbrush on the regular. However airbrushing is so over hyped, you can get the same results with a sponge and a brush, it’s slightly quicker but not much. It’s pretty much impossible to do on yourself though and make it look good.
Thank you so much for saying that!! I’m also a makeup artist and 90% of my brides request airbrush…At the trial I talk most of them out of it by doing hair of their face w/ airbrush and half with regular makeup. It IS a hype and frankly I get WAY more flawless finishes using regular foundation and a brush. Ive found it only looks great on those with amazing skin to begin with. It’s terrible for anyone with large pores, mature skin, or anyone needing a lot of coverage because it actually gives a very sheer coverage…yet still tends to look cakey. I’ve tried 4 different brands of airbrush makeup and I hate the way they all look!
