I like thicker, more opaque concealers like Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer, Amazing Concealer, or Cle de Peau concealer. I use the 217 to blend it out and then pat on loose powder to set.
Got a question idea? Submit yours here.
Does the Cle de Peau concealer live up to its reputation?
Not in my experience.
I agree !
OMG YES! Best $70 I ever spent!
SEVENTY BUCKS!?!?
Benefit Stay Don’t Stray followed by Benefit Boi-ing #1 concealer.
I think ill try that!
Benefit Erase and Paste
i love erase paste, the creaminess, the consistency, everything, but it seems to wear off super quickly!! great coverage though.. while it lasts..
MAC Face and Body, layered on a bit thicker than the normal foundation routine. It gives a healthy-skin glow that helps diffuse the darkness without making it look like I’m WIDE awake cuz other concealers do that to me. I only wanna look natural and rested lol.
that’s the hardest thing for me to do because mine are very dark and a bit swollen but i’m pale…no concealer i ever had covered them entirely…plus i gotta do touch ups all the time cause for now i can’t afford a good full coverage one 🙁 i just put foundation, then stick concealer in 2 rows then powder
I also have very dark circles and occasional puffiness, which I hate, and I apply mac pro longwear foundation nc25 + bobbi brown corrector in light bisque, followed by bb pale yellow powder…and it works, for a few hours haha
more recently i have been layering thin layers of concealer (mac select cover up+ napoleon perdis one), smashbox undereye brighter underneath and loose powder on top!
my attempts for the kim kardashian bright under eye look. it helps if the top layer of concealer is a lighter shade. but you still need a normal/darker shade underneath to cover the darkness of dark circles.
i agree! the smashbox stuff is great on top! i used to use it underneath as a primer but it works way better over top! and i use the nc20 select to correct then the nc15 to conceal and brighten.. we are very similar =]
I use a concealer trio from Viva La Diva (Swedish brand). It has three colours: natural, yellow, orange-brown. I use the orange-brown one under my eyes at the moment.
It works just fine, but it creases quite easily, so I’m thinking of finding something else.
At the moment I’m using MAC Studio Sculpt or LORAC Double Feature. For the Studio Sculpt I use a taklon brush that came with a Laura Mercier kit and the LORAC Double Feature is a stick concealer with a rollerball to blend it in. I like that delivery system because the whole thing is in one convenient package. It also has a very nice warm highlighter, too!
I’ve tried MAC’s Select Moisturecover and Select Cover-up, but haven’t found anything perfect yet! I’ve also tried Laura Mercier’s famous undereye concealer but I wasn’t blown away.
I want to try Korres or Jose Maran next!
Skip Josie Maran’s – it does not cover anything at all – I got it with her Tinted spf moisturizer that I do like a lot but forget the concealer that came with it. Try Lara Geller’s Real Deal Concealer – it lasts forever. Also really good at the concealers by Tarte
Helena Rubinstein Magic Concealer
Laura Mercier secret concealer n°3 (orange) with a blending brush
Bobbi Brown’s creamy corrector and concealer. The texture of the corrector is very similar to eve pearl and works brilliantly.
MAC Pro Longwear in NW 15 or 20 (I have both), applied with a 224 brush and then set with loose powder (either TF Primed and Poreless, Benefit Powderflage or MAC P+P setting powder) I’d love to try some of the peach toned products you mentioned, Christine, but neither one is available near me.
Try EBay!
I actually nabbed one from there.
Good luck 🙂
I use my ring finger to pat on Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer focusing on inner corner and blending outwards, then set it with Benefit Powderflage on a Paula Dorf Eye Blender blush.
Being darker skinned I first use Bobbi browns corrector in dark bisque, on top I’ll add mac pro long wear concealer! Inuse my fingers to put it on the warmth seems to help it , last I dust bare minerals all over my face..
Same here! Bobbi Brown corrector and MAC Pro long wear are matches made in heaven!
I usually apply the YSL Top Secrets Flash Touch Wake-up Eyecare, which is a moisturizer/primer with a ball applicator, so that I can massage the area. Then I apply my concealer, which varies depending on how much I’ve studied the night before and then I set everything with powder or with a skintone-salmony eyeshadow. Now that I’ve started wearing glasses I feel like my undereye cirlces are getting worse and worse, but maybe it’s just an impression :/
I use Bobbi Brown’s concealer with setting powder. I bought the base but don’t use it as often. I do like the concealer.
I use a Bobbi Brown corrector first, then I layer MAC’s Prolong Wear concealer on top. I blend it out using a Sephora #57 Airbrush Concealer brush. Then I set it with a translucent powder.
I can’t wear heavy concealers because they aggravate my millia but I like to use the garnier roller ball, which I let sit under my eyes for a few minutes before rubbing it in, then giorgio armani master corrector over top in the areas with the most darkness then i set with bare minerals well rested! amazing lightweight coverage 🙂
ive tried the BB corrector. is the armani comparable? im looking for a correcter, that isnt Bobbi lol.
I use MAC Pro Longwear in NW20. It’s the only one I’ve come across so far that doesn’t crease (well, not a lot). I’ve tried the Bobbi Brown, but it creases like crazy! Does anybody else have this problem? I have these fine lines under my eyes and they’re not from old age or anything, because I’m only 25 and have had them for as long as I can remember. Nearly every concealer creases under my eyes.
I pat the MAC Pro Longwear under my eyes (and next to my eyes and on my lids, because the whole area is darker than the rest of my face) using only my ring finger and set it with a tiny bit of powder.
yep BB creased like mad as well.. blegh then the snow white powder it came with didnt help! PLW is great.
I had that problem before. Now I use Smashbox’s Filter with Dermaxyl underneath my MAC Studiofinish Concealer, then set with Skinfood’s Salmon Under Eye Brightening Powder.
However, I think the Smashbox filter pen has been discontinued. You can still get it from their site under “Final Call” category for half the retail price, or try hitting eBay for even less. If you really can’t find it anymore, I believe Clarins makes a comparable product, only pricier.
Hope that helps! ^^
I have the same problem with the BB creamy concealer so I’ve switched to MUFE Full Cover. It doesn’t have the BEST coverage or texture but it doesn’t move and the colour matches better than my MAC Pro Longwear 🙂
I use Erase Paste by Benefit and thn I set it with a little powder.
I have yet to find a concealer that is actually opaque in one coat. If it requires more than one coat, it’s not concealer, and buildable coverage is BS. So, I have not found anything that covers mine.
My under eyes area is weird. It’s like.. uneven and I have THIS fine line (not a wrinkle please i’m 20 aha), where the concealer just migrated into. grrrrrr.
Also, light concealer (the ones with a wand) are too light but some thicker one are too cakey. So yes I’M on the hunt for the perfect under eye concealer.
This morning I try the Prep + Prime Vibrancy eye by MAC, then the select cover up. I set it with a powder foundation from Illamasqua that is very pink(cover great my dark blue circles!) and it look great!! I’ll test it out more days but maybe it is my lucky combo ahah
I use MAC select coverup concealer in NC20 (: I love it! Also works FLA-MA-ZING on blemishes..
Then mayebelline dream matte powder
I like YSL Touche Eclat to light up any darkness but I find in not covering enough for dark circles. For really dark circles, I use Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer; it’s a bit more opaque.
I’m also really pale with relatively dark circles, and struggled for a looong time to find the *perfect* concealer for undereyes. I used to use Boi-ing by Benefit, but it was really dry and tugged, then I found Laura Geller’s Real Deal Concealer! It is amazing! A teeny bit goes a long way, so it’s worth the money.
I use a MAC eye primer with a concealer brush and then dust with translucent powder.
I use Benefit’s Erase Paste. I just got Hard Candy’s Glamoflauge Concealer today so I’m excited to try that out too :)I heard it’s amazing!
I use benefit lemonaid.
Tartes ceaseless cream concealer, powder. Light reflect pen from PF
Amazing’s concealer is….amazing !
looking forward to reading the posts on concealing undereye circles because I am forever looking for the solution.
Me too. I’m interested in concealer application techniques.
Bobbi brown corrector followed by smashbox hi def concealer, then set w fusion of color eye brite (like BE. Well Rested but peachy)
I’m pale and thanks to heredity, have really dark circles. I have two methods to cover them up.
On most days, I can get away using Hourglass Pearl concealer (corrector and concealer in one). Works great, has the perfect consistency, and is very pigmented (which is what I need). If I want to powder, I do so with BE Well Rested, but I find the Hourglass still lasts long and stays crease reistant without the powder!
If it’s one of those really extreme dark circle days or if my picture will be taken, this is what I layer:
Hourglass primer on undereye area
Bobbi Brown Corrector
Bobbi Brown Concealer
Maybe a touch of Hourglass Pearl, but usually the Bobbi Brown covers about everything
Set VERY lightly with BE Well Rested
If you really have trouble with concealer lasting, try a primer first (as well as setting it all with powder). It totally helped my Bobbi Brown last ALL DAY. Also, when layering, really wait for each layer to dry and set before adding the next. I know they’re all cream products, but I’ve found this to really help my application look better and last longer.
are there any other notable correctors out there? similar hues like how BB is slightly orange or whatever, besides BB?
oUU!! i forgot to add that the Smashbox Camera ready stick concealer is so creamy and GREAT for concealing undereye circles.. i never would have thought a stick would be so great, but i highly rec. it.. it has that slightly opaque coverage that will actually correct and conceal in 1 step!
I use Graftobian HD Corrector in Soft Orange and follow it up with either NYX Concealer in Stick or NYX Concealer in Jar and then I set it with a mineral concealer – thus, giving me a full coverage concealer to hid my raccoon-like under eye dark circles.
I have bought sooo many and gotten so discouraged along the way. Covering my undereye circles would make my whole face come alive, I feel, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. The problem is creasing but also just that the products seem to emphasize fine lines and wrinkles that otherwise were invisible as others have said. What I’m on now is lancome platineum eye&lip cream with benefit lemonaid patted lightly over and possibly set with translucent powder. I think I may have been barking up the wrong tree with the salmon thing. Yellow may work better. I’m NW15.
Benefit Lemonade is really good – but I mix it with something else that is more skin toned – but starting with Lemonade or fixing during the day with it works well too.
Oh ya, but I also keep hearing about Covergirl anti-age Concealer. So maybe I’ll try that next.
I use Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer in Dark as the first layer, dust a little bit of MUFE Matte Loose powder on top, than I add a bit of MUFE Full Coverage in #14, then dust a little bit of the MUFE loose powder on top. The loose powder between layers is crucial to ensure good and long-lasting coverage. I have CRAZY genetic undereye circles, and this combo is fantastic to cover them up and stay put all day. If I want a bit more brightness, I dot a little bit of YSL Touche Éclat very lightly on top and the whole looks amazing!! Many people (including my bf at first) were shocked to see how dark my circles are when I’m not wearing any makeup. The before-and-after looks are quite shocking, lol!
I use Tarte Maracuja oil concealer in light – then I lightly brush over either BE original Bisque. I also like and still use the older Tarte concealer that comes in a pot and has it’s own powder in the same pot on the bottom to set the concealer. Before that I found Benefit Boing that I liked but I had to be sure I had a light eye cream on first. No powder over that one.
I was wondering what color to get in the Clé de Peau concealer but I don’t know which one! I’m an NW20 in Mac’s concealer. What do you think?
