Haul: somewhat unplanned UD haul, taking advantage of today’s buy two vice lipsticks, get one free code: Vice lipsticks in Hideaway, Accident, and Rapture (a staple for me, this is a repurchase). Wanted Love Drunk but it was OOS.
Plans: spending time with the kids, getting together on Sunday with some friends who live a couple hours away (we’re meeting at a midpoint), whom I haven’t seen in a year.
Hot Drink: Mocha.
Haul: I haven’t hauled much in a while, in preparation for VIB sale and the most recent Ulta sale. But I received my Ulta order so I have haul-able things! TF BTW powder, TF Hangover Spray, 2 of the new UD Glitter liner shades (punk rock & stix & stones), 2 Dose Satin Lipsticks (Lava Cake & Parfait), the Ofra Vintage Vineyard set and the Tarte In Bloom palette. I wanted to try tarte shadows and everyone seems to love in bloom…from some brief time with it, I kind of get it- simple, but beautiful.
Weekend plans: I am painting my body blue tomorrow- genderbent Hades here I come. So a Halloween party my friends and I throw every year…it’s going to be interesting.
What’s your favorite hot drink?: I am normally a cold coffee person, but when the true cold hits I love coffee with almond milk or coconut milk…maybe add a schnapps of some kind if it is night time.
OMG the party sounds like fun! Have a great time!
Thank you, it is and I will. A lot of people keep their costumes a secret so it adds to the excitement.
Good score on the Ofra. The trios are up to 50 on Ofra’s website. Recently got the espresso set. Really like the Ofra formula. Blue? Great!!!
Right, I love buying their sets, especially at ulta! I was contemplating espresso, but Bordeaux drew me. And yep blue… it’s going to be interesting…
Enjoy the party Joan!
Thank you!
Haul: BITE Lavender Jam lipstick and Youth to the People superfood moisture duo (still trying to find that HG night cream!). In not-makeup – I traded in 2 of my old kit lenses and bought a Canon 35mm f/2 lens for landscape photography.
Weekend plans: Buying a new truck! We finally closed on selling the old house on the 16th, and now that the check has completely cleared and the old mortgage is paid off, it’s time to trade in the Titan for something that won’t break down once a month.
Favorite hot drink: Black coffee. But I’m also a sucker for a good mug of hot cocoa with marshmallows!
Good luck finding a new truck you love!
Haul: Tarte Make Believe in Yourself palette and Tarteist Contour Palette vol. III should be arriving in the mail this afternoon.
Weekend Plans: Dungeons and Dragons tonight and tomorrow, church on Sunday, and lots of naps and Netflix since I just got my wisdom teeth out yesterday.
Favorite Hot Drink: That’s a tough one! I’m always down for an unsweetened latte, but this time of year those packets of instant spiced cider from Alpine really hot the spot!
HAUL: I picked up the Full Orbit Mineralized eyeshadow quad from the MAC Goodbyes. I love this palette. Workable grays, builds easily, and it wears all day on me. Most shadows crease on me, even touted long-wearing cream eyeshadow and even the great powder shadows. For some reason baked formulas work well for me, same with the Chanel quads. I will be on the lookout for future mineralized quads.
WEEKEND: Really need to do some cleaning and organizing…
FAV HOT DRINK: Damn fine cup of coffee, black as midnight on a moonless night 😉
“Damn fine cup of coffee, black as midnight on a moonless night” – I LOVE IT Ginny! This should be on a coffee shop banner or something!
Twin Peaks quote?? I’m going to a Halloween party tomorrow in a Double R diner waitress dress!
Courtesy of Special Agent Dale Cooper:) I found coffee mugs with the first part of the quote (Damn fine cup of coffee) but not with the entire one.
Haul: Nars The Veil cheek palette at Ulta with the 20% off code, plus a few Morphe brushes.
Weekend plans: resting, probably a hike, and celebrating our anniversary!
Favorite hot drink: earl grey tea. And I’m never against a good hot chocolate as long as it’s unsweetened!
Happy anniversary!
Thank you! 🙂
Happy anniversary!
Haul: Both sets of the Laura Geller Luster Lip Gloss Top Coat Duos (“Diamonds” and “Pearls”) – I was a little worried because I haven’t tried their glosses before and didn’t know if the texture would be good, but I am impressed! They are really pretty and right up my alley in terms of finish. I might drop into Ulta today and pick up the UD Afterglow Highlighter Palette. Not that I need it, but at $17, plus 20% off, plus $6 in rewards I can get it for less than $10, so…
Also trying to decide if I want to try out the latest Special Edition PLAY! Box from Sephora – this one is luxury skincare focused so I am sorely tempted. To try SK-II, La Mer and Tatcha along with a few other goodies for only $20 seems like a pretty good deal.
Weekend plans: Still trying to get everything back down to the basement that we had to bring up during the finishing project. And STRANGER THINGS 2 BINGE!!
What’s your favorite hot drink? Flat White
Haul: Nothing so far. I’m tempted by the In Your Element: Water palette that’s 50% off at Ulta right now, though. Those are my kind of colors.
Weekend plans: Our local gin distillery is having their second anniversary party tomorrow. We did a tasting there the other week and really liked the owners so we’ll probably swing by, have a drink and buy a bottle of gin. Otherwise, probably going to mostly stay home, binge watch Stranger Things and work on belly dance costuming.
Favorite hot drink: TEA! I drink it every morning, even on the hottest day of summer. What kind of tea varies a lot depending on my mood and the season. In the fall and winter I tend towards deep, rich black teas, especially chai or chocolate tea.
Resisted water, but after placing my 20% order, can probably points haul it. I like air, too, and they swatch pretty well. Belly dancing, wow! You must be in really great shape. Professional, or learning?
Not as good as shape as I would like… my love of cookies and my love of belly dance are at war over the shape of my body 😉
I belly dance at a very dedicated student level. I perform a lot but it’s generally not paid work. It is, however, a very good excuse to go overboard with the makeup!
Haul:
*Urban Decay — Vice Lipstick in Wildfire and the Aura Afterglow Highlighter birthday gift (which is really big; I was surprised).
*NARS — Man Ray collection blush in Fetishized. (OMG! So stunning!)
*Macy’s — NARS Man Ray collection Glass Tears Eyeshadow Palette. (I’m loving this way more than I expected to! )

*BH Cosmetics — Take Me Back To Brazil Palette; Liquid Lipstick in Icon; GWP: Modern Neutrals To Go – 6 Color Eyeshadow Palette, Bliss Lash Mascara, and Sculpt and Blend Mini 2 Brush Set.
*Medusa’s Make-up Beauty Box for October: Cosmic Glitter Dust in Ziggy (a gorgeous magenta with red flecks), Limited Edition Eye Dust in Night Owl ( a beautiful dark violet with micro sparkles), MetalAF Lip Gloss in Kiss Me Deadly (actually a liquid lipstick in a metallic, shimmery purple that complements the Ziggy glitter really well), and Witch Lash Mascara (I’ve gotten this before; it’s really wet and smudges easily). The information card was a gorgeous skull-design postcard that I’m going to frame.
Weekend plans: Taking my son out to celebrate his getting his High School Diploma! He had one credit left to make up this school year, and he just got done Tuesday. He lost a year of school to thyroid issues caused by a rare medication side effect (now fixed). He was further behind just due to his Aspberger’s Disorder and other issues. He never gave up no matter how far behind he was, and he worked hard to catch up this past year. I’m a very proud mama!
What’s your favorite hot drink?: I love tea, but I don’t say no to the occasional hot chocolate.
Congrats to your son!
Thank you!
How did the Glass Tears palette totally escape my eye….. I thought there was only the larger palette. This is beautiful.
Your son should be proud of himself!
It’s such a great palette. The shadows blend like butter.
Thank you; my son is very proud and happy.
Even though I’ve said it before, I cannot say it enough; Big congrats to your son, and you, too, Rachel! Finishing high school and being on the Autism Spectrum is a formidable challenge, therefore I’m feeling proud of his hard work and that he never gave up, too. But he has an amazing, strong lady for a Mom who stood by him through it all: You! ?
Thank you, Nancy! You’re too sweet.
Nancy said it so well! Congrats to you and your son, so proud of you both!
Thank you, Katherine!
Yay for your boy! Long, Hard work on both your parts.
Thank you, kjh! The hard work was more than worth it.
Congrats to you and to your son Rachel! Your son must be so proud; it requires a tremendous determination and strength to go through all the hard times he had. This makes his accomplishment even greater. I’m sure he takes after his mama 🙂
Thank you, Nicole! You’re too kind.
Congratulations to you and your son.
Thank you!
Congratulations to your son, and just as importantly, you!
Thank you, Amy! I know you can really appreciate what we had to go through.
There’s lots of momma support to congratulate in that great news! So happy for you both. Huge accomplishment for him, and I hope he’s super proud of himself.
Aw, thank you, Linda! He’s very, very happy and proud.
I showed my son everyone’s kind comments. He says to tell you all, “Thank you.” He was very surprised, and blushing by the time he got done reading! 🙂
Haul: I William try not to visit Sephora or any websites as my Viseart Golden Hour should arrive soon.
Weekend: I’m free! Hubby & kids visiting family, so it’s just me and my cats chillin’ together!
Hot drink: Hmmm, a very chocolatey hot cocoa with little Swiss-miss like marshmallows.
Haul: MAC Classics Snow Ball Mini Lipstick Kit, got it on Sunday morning in store. 😉 It’s been over a year since I’ve bought anything from MAC (but I have backups of staple products).

Mugler Alien trial size – 0.2 oz/ 6 mL
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation-Milkshake in and Panna Cotta & Creme Brulee. I unfortunately have to return all of them. While testing I had an eye reaction I sometimes get with perfumed products, that got worse over the course of two weeks testing the different shades. 🙁 Nothing needing medical attention but booooo.
Weekend plans: More work….
What’s your favorite hot drink?: Hot chocolate definitely! But I’ve been enjoying Latte’s because I don’t need to add sugar to them for them to taste good (milk Espresso and that’s it). It’s kind of hard not being able to drink sugary drinks anymore during the cooler, colder months as they are my favourites. 😛
Haul: I got a vanity! I set everything up yesterday and I feel so fancy! Very happy.
Weekend plans: Doing a volunteer thing at my local national park on Saturday, housework and errands on Sunday. (Pretty much what I do every Sunday.)
What’s your favorite hot drink? I’m a big tea drinker.
Haul:
-bumble and bumble invisible oil, shampoo, and conditioner.
-first aid beauty coconut smoothie primer/moisturizer
-elizabeth and James nirvana rose roller ball perfume
-too faced peach perfect setting powder
-jack black lip balm in grapefruit.
Weekend plans: nothing much! Just relaxing and staying out of pain! 🙂
Favorite hot drink: I’m partial to mint green tea, and coffee (I’ll take it double double please!)
Aw, he looks like he’s waiting patiently!

Dermstore (10% off and then 20% off): Besame Cosmetics 1938 Cream Rouge (Crimson) – Backup. I couldn’t resist a deal and while I hate Dermstore, Sephora doesn’t have this item for me to wait for their sale.

Sephora: Ciate London Glow-To Illuminating Blush (In Too Deep), Ciate London Liquid Chrome (Nova), Huda Beauty Highlighter Palette (Winter Solstice) – I have the Ciate but not the Huda yet since it just released today.
Sephora (point Redemption): Make Up For Ever A Twist on Modern Art Canvas Print – Is being delivered today. Can you believe I actually got a point redemption over 500 points?!
Ulta (20% off): StriVectin Multi-Action Stress Defense Hydrating Water Gel, Tarte Bliss Blush Palette – shipped but not received. I had a sample of the StriVectrin from my Macy’s Beauty Box and it makes a nice change off from my regular Kate Somerville retinol.
Urban Decay: Nagel Vice Lipstick Palette (Sunglasses – 2: I bought 1 for my friend who loves Nagel; Rio, Untitled) – First swatch posted this morning. Will be posting the other two Sat/Sun.
Weekend plans: Tomorrow I need to pick up a jacket I had tailored. Then I’m meeting the girls at Ulta to check out some new releases since I have another 20% off coupon. I might go buy a new mattress.
What’s your favorite hot drink?: Coffee. Sorry, I’m boring.
Nothing boring about coffee. I think if they were to take my blood, it would have a caffeine reading!
Hahahaha – same – coffee is life!
Another coffee fanatic here! Black, unsweetened. Love an americano but honestly I’ll drink any variation on it…
Coffee is anything but boring:) . I love coffee in all shapes and forms.
My phone case shows a cup of coffee with a pair of hands grabbing the cup’s handle and w/ the message “Coffee – Makes me sane for a moment or so”.
Couldn’t refuse that big wet puppy nose or those sweet, gentle eyes even if one tried! ?
Haul: I found (and bought) MAC Elle Belle at Macy’s yesterday! Strange part? I have my name and number to BOTH our local MAC Store and directly across from it, Macy’s. As I headed out of Macy’s, I had to pass MAC, they had restocked all the holiday collection. BUT: even though I had pre-saled items, they never called me. Needless to say, I’m not so thrilled about that. Especially since I had also been in there Monday to buy the Rossy de Palma Lipglass trio (LOVE IT!), and had asked if there was any word on a restocking!
Weekend plans: Taking care of my much neglected nails. I’ve actually gotten very lazy about doing the entire process each week even though I always put down that I’m going to do them. Going to my meeting on Sunday. Baking some chocolate chunk brownies later today!
Favorite hot drink: Stephan’s Mint Hot Cocoa with loads of whipped cream on top! Almost in a dead-heat tie with that is chai latte!
Mmmmmmmm chocolate chunk brownies! Glad you got Elle Belle. That’s a gorgeous shade for you! Sorry MAC never contacted you….disappointing!
Just looking at the package of brownie mix had me salivating in the supermarket! As for this particular MAC, it has changed a lot ever since they promoted 2 really wonderful mgrs., Julie and Tyler, to positions outside of this store. Very glad to have gotten Elle Belle anyway, and can hardly wait to wear it!
Mellan looks serious about his treats!
*Haul – NARS x Man Ray Love Triangle -I like the mini sizes -Impassioned Blush (pretty soft pink, on the sheer and dry side but applies better over foundation/primer) and Anna (pretty cool pink). NARS x Man Ray Les Amoureux Lipstick Coffret –Nordstrom’s exclusive -like the artwork, the black case is big and substantial in weight, it can be displayed or re-used as container. The lipsticks are minis in peachy browns/nudes, hoping I can pull all of them off. Sigma Crème du Couture palette -haven’t swatched yet but online swatches/reviews look promising (thanks for the rec Michele!), and a big MAC Snowball order coming today, will report on it next week
*Weekend- dinner with friends, lots of swatching/testing makeup, getting my makeup list together for upcoming holiday sales
*Used to be coffee, which I loved, but I had to quit, so now it’s tea
Haul: I got MakePrem in shower mask at Tarjay and an oil mask.
Plans: Finishing up the birthday plans this weekend. Ramen tonight, wine tasting tomorrow, and then chores/shopping on Sunday.
Favorite Hot Drink: A soy Chai from Sbux or any tea, really… I do like drinking chocolate too!
How do you like the in shower mask?
Haul: Not too much as I’ve received my VIB 20% discount and am waiting til Nov. 3. But I did purchase a La Roche Posay toner (the alcohol free one for winter use), Soap and Glory Sugar Crush body lotion and 2 products from GOSH as everything from them is marked down 50% and being discontinued – I got another backup for the Metallic Brass pencil liner (I’ve used it for ages and love it) and also a Forever Metallic Eyeshadow Stick in the shade 04/Brown
Weekend plans: gym tomorrow and getting down the Halloween decorations from the attic. Then a friend is coming to stay and we’re going out to celebrate my and my hubby’s birthdays
Favourite hot drink – oh gosh, there are so many…. Flat White from Detour (they make the best), Pumpkin Spice and Vanilla Bean lattes, mulled cider and especially mulled wine!
Haul: I picked up the L’Occitane Almond Home & Away set because my skin is hella dry and I need some winterizing for that.
Weekend plans: Rest up and recover, play around with my Ninja blender (I have the one with just the smoothie cups and have been making some form of a green or root or somesuch healthy smoothie/juice daily for a week or two and it’s been making me feel a lot less tired and a lot less prone to snacking, which is good for the whole pain and disability recover thing.
What’s your favorite hot drink?: I really, really love a good cup of proper chai. Tea in and of itself is good (I drink at least 3 mugs a day, but they’re repours usually so only one cup is actually caffeinated) but really authentic chai brings me tons of memories and a just good warm feeling. Once it gets to fall/winter, I am a sucker for mulled apple cider (I don’t drink but if I did I suspect mulled wine would be on the list) or good hot chocolate, preferably with Ancho chili in it.
Haul: Three new Essence polishes (& My Flaky Cat, & My Matte Hat, and & My Satin Poodle)
Weekend plans: Getting my act together and cleaning up my apartment, as well as shopping with my mom and playing Digimon Links
What’s your favorite hot drink?: Caramel latte (but I’d rather have it iced lol)
Mellan, baby. How about some Trader Joe’s chicken jerky? Haul: BM ready 18.0. Quite cool friendly. If you have a lot of Ready, there are many repeats. I don’t and think it will be a good neutral workhorse. Shea moisture men’s 3 butters lotion. It’s very lotion, and dodo expected more buttery, so nearly had a disaster. Decent and huge. Burt’s bees original beeswax. Used to like it. Now, think the limonene, peppermint, and rosemary irritate. Call it the Paula effect. About to place the Ulta 20, which will crank my points. Might use those for the Nars Man Ray eye palette, as folks here like it, though I wish I could get the GB one! Plans: with Patticake in full recovery and cranky mode, working half days daily, to be able to accommodate her med and changing schedule. Her rear legs are coming along, but the right front isn’t great. I just want clearance to take her out in the stroller. Making the appt. hot drinks. Total love. Dark roast black coffee, TJ sipping chocolate (less sweet,) ginger turmeric tea, other teas. Seldom without a mug of hot drink.
I wouldn’t be able to resist giving Mellon some treats with that soulful expression in his eyes!
Haul: I was in one of our beauty shops, Priceline, to pick up a new setting powder, when I saw that they had one of their fabulous GWP bags up for grabs. Spend $70 and you get $270 worth of products (plus a beautiful navy striped bag) for free. The products are always great quality ones: La Roche Posay, Burt’s Bees, Sukin, Essano, Olay, Biore, Antipodes etc. Needless to say, I obliged by stocking up on La Roche Posay’s Sunscreen, Sukin’s Chia Seed Oil, hand creams, daily moisturisers and serum. Plus Rimmel’s Insta Fix Stay Matte setting powder in translucent. So a very happy haul.
Favourite hot drink: Tea, especially decaff tea for the evening. But I really LOVE my cappuchino in the morning, followed by a latte later on.
Weekend Plans: At the moment, I think it’s going to be a quiet weekend. We’ve just had our new air con installed into our kitchen/meals/family room area – a huge unit that will preserve us during the hottest days of summer. We’ve also got an evaporative unit for the whole house, but it doesn’t really work on humid days – and we are getting many more of them in the last decade or so.
Wow, that was such a good deal that you’ve got at Priceline, Genevieve! I love Sukin and Antipodes brands and I’m so happy I can find them here in Canada (I’m contemplating buying the Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum from Antipodes, I’ve heard very good things about it).
I’m preparing mentally for the winter here; last year it was not that bad until the beginning of January when we started to have heavy snow and temperatures around -20C/-4F and lower. It’s worse when we have icy rain. The winter lasted almost until April, followed by a very short spring and then a mostly humid summer.
I think you have quite an extreme climate in Canada – brutal winters and hot, steamy summers.
Wow, nice score with the GWP bag!
Haul: SEPHORA: Givenchy – Le Rouge Mini Duo (I’m in love with both colours, a berry red and a coral-pink); Nudestix – What’s Your Matte? Nudes+Reds kit and Dr Jart+ Best Face Forward set (contains the Ceramidin Cream and the Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream).
CLINIQUE: Bare Pop Pop Lip Colour + Primer from the Jonathan Adler collection (beautiful brownish- pink with some golden shimmer); Airbrush Concealer in Neutral Fair.
Weekend plans: nothing special some shopping, studying, cooking, cleaning and doing some work in the backyard and garden (my hubby will take care of the grass and leaves and I will be preparing the garden/perennial plants for the winter )
Favorite hot drink: Espresso macchiato (and coffee in general). I love an authentic, good, double or triple shot espresso macchiato, which I usually find in Little Italy in Montreal. However, I rarely go there, except for some shopping during the weekend, so I have to either settle for my own EM prepared at home if I have time in the morning (I’ve been using for the past year the Canadian brand Kicking Horse – Cliff Hanger Espresso; it has a rich body and aroma) or take one from Starbucks. Ethiopian Coffee is also excellent and is best known for its complex and pungent taste.
For the coffee: I never put sugar in it.

Haul: another ABH Brow Wiz. MAC I’m Glistening lipstick. Kevin Aucoin 210 Sugared Peach/ Rusty Brown eyeshadow duo. MAC I’m Glistening lipstick. Elizabeth Arden Lip Primer.
Weekend plans: It will be cold… somewhere warm. My daughter has to find interesting places to take pictures for her class so I will have chauffeur her around 🙂
Favorite hot drink: Caramel macchiattos
Haul: Smash box Cover Shot Ablaze e/s palette, Smash box Primerizer, UD Color Correcting fluid in Lavender, Too Faced Lipstick in Pink Chocolate, Clinique Moisture Surge face spray and two Becca blush splits but which two I can’t remember! !!
Weekend plans: Just completed an IME and I am still out of town. Pain in my back following exam is to bad to drive the 3 hours home. I will see how I feel tomorrow. Probably have a quiet weekend.
Favorite hot drink: I have 2 favorite teas, Cream Earl Grey and Chocolate Bourbon Ginger.
HAUL:
IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Hydrating Gloss Stain in Inspiring Red. This is my second stain in this line, and I love it as much as the first. Over a lip pencil, this lasts and lasts. And, finally, it is the product that has fixed the constant desiccated feel of my lips. I’ve tried BITE mask, Burt’s Bees, Clarins, oils, Vaseline — you name it, and nothing has worked like this. Thumbs up for this little product!
That’s it for this week.
Weekend:
Trustee committee meetings last week Mon-Fri. I had to present for 30 minutes each of those days. Then breakout sessions to go in depth. It ended yesterday with a 13 hour day, which included dinner. Even though it’s social, you’re still “on.” It was so much work, yet the week was exhilarating. It went so well, the energy was s positive, everyone was pulling in the same direction. But now I have to launch a major web, print, and video project on November 6 that is 18 months in the making. No let up yet.
Long way of saying that this weekend I want to either veg and stare at the four walls or walk in the woods with the dogs. That’s all I have left at the moment. 🙂
Hot drinks: Mochas, but I don’t have them very often.
That picture of Mellan warms my heart.
Haul: 2 weeks to report: MAC holiday eyeshadow/mascara bag (gift), mini lipstick set (gift), Peach/Show Gold face bag (for me under the tree) mascara/liner set, Shimmer & Spice and Holiday lipsticks, I’m Snowing and Stylishly Merry eyeshadows; MAC brushes (Macy’s 50% off): a few for me (including the 182!) and a good starter eye & face set for my niece for her birthday next year. Christine, to help me buy a nice assortment for my niece, I combed through your extensive MAC brush reviews, lists and recommendations – thank you sooo much for this wealth of information at our fingertips.
Weekend Plans: A major decluttering effort along with unpacking long sleeve tops as the temp has gotten cool of late.
Favourite hot beverage: I love espresso drinks like an American Misto and cappuccino. When we go out for sushi, I enjoy warm sake. At home, a hot toddy soothes when feeling under the weather.
